So I was watching the Justice League marathon on Boomerang tonight...it has been awhile since I've had any animated Bat since my DVD's are in storage at the moment.Anyway,I was struck once again by just how awesome Kevin Conroy is as Batman. For me,this man IS Batman-more than West,Keaton,Bale or anyone else who has ever donned the cowl.He just GETS the character so well-every line he delivers is spot on perfect. With JLU coming to a close,I can only hope that someone somewhere has the common sense to keep Conroy under contract as the official voice of Batman-video games,toys,cartoons-even if they're not based on the animated series,Conroy should still be the voice.

Personally I'm in full agreement as well. It would be beyond unforgiveable and un-just if Kevin Conroy were "replaced" or not to return to the role.

I remember picking up some Batman toy a few years ago that "talked"-cant for the life of me remember what it was,but I do know I passed on it because the voice wasnt Conroys. After hearing him on the cartoon network promos for so many years saying "I...AM...BATMAN" I just cant get used to anyone else speaking for Bats-and that goes for animation AND live-action.Conroy understands Batman better than any other actor who has ever been associated with the part-hopefully even with the cartoons at an end,he will still be given a chance to speak for Bats in other projects.

Conroy is the Batman, yes. After JLU, there has to be some Batman related media thing going on that he should be entitled to. No one can do it like Conroy. His voice is simply legendary.

This was my favorite quote by Conroy as Batman:
"I am vengeance. I am the night. I....am....BATMAN!"
The one true Batman. Maybe he can do a gig on the Batman. They got Adam West, why not Conroy?

I'd loved to see Mr. Conroy get a shot on The Batman. Perhaps voicing Harvey Dent/Two-Face if he becomes a villian next season...

There was a (fairly crappy) deluxe Batman toy delivered by Hasbro in the last year or two of its license - I think it was some kind of "Mega Armor" Batman from the Mission Masters line - that had a sound feature that played several Conroy Batman lines from the "Harlequinade" BTAS episode. The toy sucked, but Conroy's lines "I don't have time for jokes", "Is this the best you can throw at me?" and "Joker has the whole city wired" made it one of my favorites. He will always be THE voice of Batman.

Kevin Conroy=Batman
Both of his voices (Bruce and Batman) are perfect.
The closest anyone got to him for me was Bale. Bale played up the more messed up aspects of Batman as well as channeling the scary voice that Conroy basically created.

I agree wholeheartedly. Conroy pioneered the idea of Bats using two different voices for Bruce Wayne and Batman, as far as I know, and he pulled it off perfectly...and I love the way Bruce speaks in the low Batman voice most of the time when he's not putting on the Bruce Wayne facade. It really reinforces the idea that he sees himself as(and is) more Batman than Bruce Wayne. His voice really is the definitive Batman voice, and I can't imagine anyone doing it better(though, like The Question said, Bale came closest). Not to mention the fact that he has acted so well as Batman throughout every series he voiced him in. I also love the way Conroy's Batman voice gets lower, raspier, and darker as time goes on in the DCAU(going through B:TAS, TNBA, JL and JLU, and finally into Batman Beyond), and how it mirrors Batman's personality getting darker and darker over the years(I'm sure this was helped by the fact that Conroy's been getting older, too ;D).

I don't see how he could return as the voice of Batman now with "The Batman" and Romano. I just hope sometime, at some point, the powers that be and Conroy agree to do one more BTAS DTV. It would be a shame if that never happened. I also agree that he should get a role as a future villain in TB. Maybe Black Mask? Ra's? anyone

Maybe he could voice Bruce's father, if they ever do flashbacks.

Conroy was the absolute best choice for Batman. Like mentioned earlier, he really has figured out the Bruce Wayne/Batman persona's, and has truly given the character an amazing voice. He has set the standard high for future animated series, whatever they may be.

Conroy is THE voice of Batman, and if they make a Batman DCAU DTV, and he doesn't voice Batman, I will boycott that. Because it's just not the DCAU Batman if he isn't voiced by Conroy.

When i met him in person, this was his opening. It was kinda cool to hear him deliver that phrase in person. He genuinly loved the character. He was very humble with the fans as well, he is a class act.

[shadow=green,left,300] I remember the first time I heard Conroy as Batman in BTAS, it was Riddler's first appearance and Kevin Conroy's voice blew me away! To this day I still say that Kevin Conroy has the best voice talent for Batman. All Star, I would like to see Conroy on 'The Batman' as well, that quote was also my favorite. Conroy could just literally get into his character he is the true Batman. [/shadow]

One of the reasons that I didn't get into The Batman initially was because Conroy didn't do the voice. It isn't that Romano's is bad, it is just that Conroy's is so incredibly awesome

I recently heard that Kevin Conroy WILL be on "The Batman" but playing a role I would never have imagined him playing: John Grayson, doomed father of Dick Grayson in the Robin origin.
As far as I'm concerned, Kevin Conroy IS the voice of Batman. When I read a Batman comic between 1992 to anything today, it's Conroy's voice I hear as Batman. I've read all the novel adaptations of all five Batman movies and envisioned the animated series playing out the movies and I would hear in my mind, Kevin Conroy as Batman's voice. IE: I could hear Kevin Conroy's Batman saying, "You called me here for this? The Bat Signal is not a beeper." Or in Batman Begins saying something like: "Does it come in black?" I especially loved Batman in JL and JLU when it comes to grimness and dialogue, like when he said to Amanda Waller of Cadmus "Mine are bigger than yours." Kevin Conroy rules!! Cheers.

Also I wanted to add that as we got further into JLU and The Worlds Finest, etc. ..Bruce's voice became Batmans.. light hearted, sounding Bruce was no longer alive. I'm sure if Bruce Timm wanted that, or if after all these years of doing Batman voice overs, that Kevin Conroy's voice became darker.
Your thoughts?

Real Batgirl. I read somewhere that Kevin Conroy at some point took up smoking to keep his voice dark. Why they wanted that change I'll never know. Before JL and JLU, The same voice for Batman and Bruce Wayne began on the final 21 episodes of Batman in the Gotham Knights series with Nightwing, Batgirl, and the addition of Tim Drake's Robin. I guess they wanted to show Batman getting darker as a person in both identities. Cheers.

Kevin Conroy is the definitive voice of Batman. They made a wonderful selection for him. However for BTAS, I think they shouldn't have cast Melissa Gilbert-Brinkham as Batgirl. Has anyone else listened to her portrayal lately? I am very happy that they replaced her in TNBA because I don't think I could stand hearing BTAS version any longer. The voice seems so unnatural to the character. What does everyone else think? Did this annoy anyone besides me?

As did Scarface's. Just one of those things I think.

I didn't mind the Penguin's voice by Paul Williams. What disturbed me though was when he was replaced with David Ogden Stiers on Mystery of the Batwoman. Stiers Penguin sounded more like Alan Oppenheimer in one of his many characters he voiced over for Filmation shows. The same crime was committed in Superman: Brainiac Attacks by replacing Clancy Brown and Corey Burton with Powers Boothe and Lance Henrickson as Lex Luthor and Brainiac. Cheers.

Kevin definately needs to have a cameo in TB. I can kinda sorta see him voicing Hal Jordan, or as Thomas Wayne.

Yup, Conroy IS Batman in Mine and many other's minds. Will always be to me. Personally, His appearance in The Batman was fine and not unwelcome, but I would prefer to see him really stretch his wings somewhere within the new DC DTVs. I think he could do an awesome job as some major villain role!
