better than I expected to be honest.it still fries the bejesus out of me he is an exclusive but like Catwoman Ill deal. Im liking the way he has elbow articulation(due to the re use of Darkseids arms I think)and he will make a great addition to the SEVERLY ANEMIC ranks of the JLU villians

FYI they also have smaller pics of the slimey variant and in deapth description of the packaging.
Well Im thrilled of course (and pray I can actually obtain one w/o needing a second mortgage?). I dig him but perhaps the anticipation ran too long and too high? Im stoked but I didnt hear any Angels singing personally lol. Surprizingly I actually think I really like the variant Slimey one a lot better!? And the packaging, as cool as it is... is it really Nec? all those bells and whissles? no wonder they complain about "not making any money on it" lol. Dream would be a MOC Slimey and a regular to open! Im not holding my breath but certainly crossing my fingers. I'll take this opotunity to make my plea for assistance to Anyone fortunate enough to attend either show to help me out here. Pay for fig, S+H and trouble of course. Better you benefit for a good deed than a scalper any day!

Wow...
He's really great! I have a connection at the SDCC that is going to get one of these beauties for me...(at least he'll try)...
I really hope he gets the NON-slime one. I like the standard Grundy a lot better.
Just can't wait!

If you're patient enough, eBay isn't too bad. I was able to score the Catwoman exclusive from last year off of eBay for $20 (same price it was at the con).

Well, having never formally been myself, I understand despite the "lottery / raffle" design, they have pretty much never failed to have and sell off the always abundant remaining stock the end of the last day (which I'm sure is where/ when the vultures swarm and get their scalper stockpile?). I'm sure in this case with there being Two supplies there should be double the chances to get at least 1 version or the orther after the fact.

Ohh kaay, so now the rumor is the slime Grundy will be uber double super hyper exclusive variant?... "one" per show!? Any truth to that would require a big ole collective cry of WTF!

Wow - really blown away by this one. Frank Varsela wrote on these pages that this will be a figure that you will never want to take out of the packaging - he wasn't kidding. I've never been a religious MOC'er with exclusives, but if this Grundy package is as good as it looks (and sounds) it may be a notable exception. ;D

Hey, I'd be interested in getting a couple of the normal vesrions of Grundy in the black jacket w/out the slime. I've never been to the SDCC, what are the chances of getting a "lottery" SDCC figure at the Con? Somebody said something about them selling left over figures at the end of the Con? How often do they do the raffles? And you pay $20 for the raffle? Would somebody take a moment and explain how it works? I'm definitely interested in getting this figure!

Thanks Matt. I appreciate the compliment. Coming from you it means a lot to me. I didn't even know that the images for Grundy were posted until today. I have to say that the images you see at Superhero times came from my presentation to DC for concept approval. So, the images are not final. In fact, they are just photoshop renderings. However, I did get samples of the package today, and I'm 80% satisfied with it. Only 80%, you ask? Yes, well, I'm afraid my own personal standards are incredibly high. So, anything is going to fall a little short of my own personal vision. But, Boy Wonder really digs it, and so does my team. To create a package like this, there is a lot of lobbying, compromise, lack of sleep, and pulling your hair out. The easy part is just creating the final art.
Anyway, I think it was Batlaw who said that the package was a bit overkill, and he may be right. However, it is my understanding that the majority of collectors never take the figure out of the package. So, with that in mind, it's my own personal goal to give the figure an environment to live in (just as I did with Catwoman). It's not just a toy and a package. It's more like a frozen moment in time (or more accurately comic book time). Plus, if I can make that moment come alive, then it really isn't just a toy and a package - it's an experience. Something to set on a mantle and look at like you would a really cool painting or a lava lamp. At any rate, if I met the objective or not is up to you guys to decide, but that's the goal. Moreover, there's always the desire to out do what you did before.
I post so rarely it seems that when I do, my posts are always a little long winded. At any rate, on behalf of myself, Ben the Brain, and my team here at Mattel, I hope you will enjoy Solomon Grundy, and if you do, WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR!! Thanks guys!
P.S. I'm going to be part of the Mattel panel at Comic Con, and its my plan to work the booth too. So, if some of you are planning on going to SDCC, please stop by and say hi.

Thanks for checking-in Frank! I hope to see an actual final version of the figure packaging soon!
Congrats on being on that comic con panel! I hope you get some well deserved fan attention. There is no harder workin' man in toys than Frank Varela people...he goes to great lengths to try and make the fans happy, and I really appreciate that!
Thanks Frank!

Thanks for checking in, Frank. The package is coming along nicely, and we all appreciate the work that went into it.
Though for the record, I think you may be wrong about the majority of collectors not removing toys from packages. In my lifetime's experience, most of us rip things things open as soon as we can. Just something to keep in mind for the future.
Best,
Casimir
