here's my story about my comic book store, alakazam (Irvine, CA)
they had all the fcbd comics on their counter and a jar for donations to some comic book charity. and it went something like this:
Employee A: "if you take more than 2 fcbd comic books, it'll be 25¢ each"
Me: <i was like WTF they are free.. so i continued to look at the fcbd selections, and didn't even look at him> "ooookkkkkay"
Employee A: "i mean you dont have to donate"
<he didn't even say "please donate".. if he did i would have donated........ remember guys, say "please" :] >
Me: <i throw my voice over to the Employee B which is i think higher in job position> Do you guys also have the Batman Heroclix?
Employee A: <looks at Employee B> What's the policy on those?
Employee B to A: <in a lower voice> These aren't 25¢ If they want them, just give it to them.
Employee B to me: Yea, here you go.. <with a smile>
Me: <looks at Employee B> Thank you.
this is free comic book day for a reason. i understand it's for charity but at least present yourself in a polite manner. i frequent this cb store, and they still dont really know me. importantly, i would like to thank all the comic book business for making this happen. i will be enjoying my fcbd comic books and my batman heroclix :]
mister jones, i will be looking forward to your artwork in the batman strikes, and the team's work in the book ;]

I partook of the day, on my kid's behalf. We already have The Batman Strikes! No. 1, so I wasn't disappointed that they didn't have it. Picked up a Star Wars comic instead. That was the best left.
It's a really nice promotion and I made sure I patronized the dealer by buying a comic, too.

[shadow=green,left,300]I agree, /\/\att. I have a friend who's also a Batman nutcase like me ;D and he sent the first three issues of the comic book to every kid on the block about a month ago. He's a real giver. Now almost all of them are glued to the TV every Saturday. Its like the whole world needs to stop for the show. I'm impressed with the outcome. GOOD FOR YOU JACK!!! [/shadow]
