[glow=red,2,300]I loved it. Seems like it's just a continuation from the show. The comic has done a GREAT job transferring the show onto comics. The art was terrific and so was the writing. It's nice for the continuation of references on how old Bruce is during the show. I have "bat-fever" here and can't find anything wrong with the comic. I hope the comic stays how it is with doing a good job.[/glow]

[shadow=green,left,300]There were a lot of frames that I enjoyed in this issue, but my favorite, by far, is this one of Bruce and Alfred at the circus..it really gives some depth to the situation...showing the looming dark silhouette of Bruce over Alfred...very symbolic...I love it Chris![/shadow]

Read it last night and probably enjoyed this issue more than any so far. I've found the series (TV and comics both) to be uneven but this had a good story, dialogue and interplay between Batman and Catwoman. Well done. A worthy Batman story.
Nice Irv Novick tribute, too. He's one of those workmanlike artists who doesn't get a lot of props but he helped define how Batman looked to a generation of fans. I was glad to see that.

Thanks for the kind words from all the posters. I'm looking forward to using Catwoman in another story because: 1) She's female. 2) The interplay between her and Batman is fun to write. 3) She's female.
But not necessarily in that order.
And Batdan is right about Irv Novick. I used to try and draw like him when I was a kid. Kind of an odd, angular style, but he understood the mechanics of the human body and was a good storyteller.
Public props to Chris Jones, Terry Beatty and Jeff Matsuda. They deserve to be knighted for their outstanding artwork. It's the heart and soul of the book.
And major props to Mad Matt for throwing a great party at this website. Pony up those donations, men!

Aw, Faithful Butler is making me blush.
Thanks for the kid words. They're much appreciated! BTW, the story that I'm working on now features the faithful butler himself, Alfred. He's a great character, and Chris and I have wanted to give him a bit more face time.
Also, Matt, in the tradition of Miller Franklin, I'll let you know when Adam Neal and O'Neal Dennison decide to appear in a story. Could Aparo James be far behind, either?
Aparo James... now that's a name reeking of cool!

Aw, Faithful Butler is making me blush. Then my work here is done! You deserve the Kudos! How can you go wrong with the equally most important character in the whole Bat-universe besides the Bat himself?Of course i am biased but without Alfred there wouldn't be a Batman IMO!I'm pleased you and Chris feel that way about him. I'm looking forward to reading it,can i have an autographed copy of the issue lol?

Youu two should take Reideen up on his offer. A graded and slabbed book that he's autographed will fetch a fortune on Ebay one day.
BTW Batdan, DC gives us a lot of latitude with which villains are used in the book. Nachie Castro - our very supportive editor - did want to see Joker and Penguin again, so they're coming along in issues 9 and 10.
One challenge with this series is that unlike B:TAS and Beyond, we don't start with 65 half hours of villains to choose from. WB doesn't want us using a villain until he appears on the television series. B:TAS and Batman Beyond provided the comic book creators with at least 15 potentenial villains during the first season alone. Scores of episodes = scores of villains to explore in the comic. We've had to adjust a bit, but we're still living large and loving the title.
Chris and I have talked a bit about picking an obscure villain or two that won't be in the show and doing a "makeover" to fit both the book and the series. That will give us a bit more wiggle room and the chance to make minor contributions to the mythos of this Batman. Maybe the television folks could pick up on the goon and use him in the televion series. That'd be a kick for us.
Will that happen? I dunno, but it sure would be fun to try our hands at it!
Whew. Talk about long-winded! Back to work I go while you savor the fine artwork of TBS #6!

I've wondered about the types of restrictions you have to deal with since it's a tie-in comic. And since you bring it up, what obscure villains would you want a crack at?

We've got three in mind but I can't say which ones or I could be busted down to Bat-janitor.
Thanks to Mad Matt, you guys have a pretty good idea which villains will be appearing over the course of the first 39 episodes. Keep in mind that Scarecrow and Ghul are off limits at the moment because of the movie.
So I'll throw it out to the LOG faithful: Which villain(s) would you like to see "adapted" to the style of "The Batman?"
Second tier villains and obscure characters are encouraged to apply.
Remeber, bid early and bid often!

To me you gotta have Harvey Dent / Two-Face; it's not Batman for me until that happens. For a while I suspected that the writers of the animated series may have been moving Bennett into that role, but now we know differently. Wayne's friendship with Dent, and his guilt over what has befallen his friend is a major part of the mythos for me. And you gotta have Poison Ivy too. As far as obscure villians...I'd love to see a team-up of Killer Moth with Firefly, as was done in the Batgirl: Year One series a few years ago. Aww, what the heck...bring in Calendar Man and The Cavalier, too. They can all team up with the Cluemaster and go bowling.

I'll dispense with the remaining major classic ones right away (Riddler, who is already coming, and Two-Face plus Ra's and Scarecrow down the road).
In addition, I would love to see Hugo Strange and Deadshot. Bring on Silver St. Cloud!
Given Alfred's prominent role in the series and its willingness to take on 10th-rate villains like Cluemaster, I'll put in a vote for the Outsider. Since the show embraces Batman's history, it could have fun with this '60s arc that's now only a footnote.
I'd also like an ep/issue or two where Bats takes on a series of extremely minor villains like Calendar Man, Kiteman, Cat-Man, et al. DC has done this from time to time and can be a kick when done well.

How about Maxie Zeus? There's a character you don't see muc of. maybe an issue where Bruce uses the "Matches Malone" identity. There's alwats Nocturna as well.

hm. the introduction of batgirl before robin makes me wonder what's planned for batman begins 2 and 3...
but i'd like to see some of the more obscure alan grant/norm breyfogle villains. cornelius stirk? mr. zsasz? the obeah man (divested of the robin/drake connection of course...) the ugly american? the skinwalker? pagan? anarky! yessss... anarky would kick butt!!!

First off, I loved #6! The circus flashback was very well done and it seems that anytime you guys bring in an element of Bruce's past, you know exactly what emotional button to hit with your readers. Overall, an excellent effort once again!!
Now as far as some characters I would like to see.......
As far as villians go, I have to say that I am very intrigued by what other members have posted thus far. Of course one huge one that we would all love to see is Two-Face. I would really be interested in how he would be introduced. Honestly, I AM NOT SURE! There are so many choices! I'll have to think on this one!
But what I would really love to see is the incorporation of other HEROES (Superman) into "The Batman's" world. I'm sure there are some limitations out there set by DC in this regard, but I thought I would throw it out there anyway(Superman). Not sure who I would pick just yet, though (SUPERMAN, SUPERMAN, SUPERMAN).... ;D
