Chris you are a genius along with Terry and the crew but, I still have yet to figure out who did the cover now it looks like Jeff's work . The riddle I believe that wasn't answered in the story I knew "what goes around the world but stays in a corner?" A stamp great job everyone this is the best one I have read!!! Ha, I just love that dumb riddle the henchwoman asked Hench:" What do you call a caped crusader who falls from the sky?" " Splatman! What do you think, Riddler?" Riddler:" Keep your day job let me handle the mental heavy lifting." lol Thank you Chris I will try to scan a pic of the cover. [/glow]

I gotta be honest; I've never gotten any of the Batman Strikes comics. AT ALL.
I don't know why but I guess it might be because I'm not very interested in comics based on TV shows, even though this comic is above the show (as I've been told).
If anything, I'm gonna start with #18. Because it has a Number One issue cover.

By all means, give the series a try. I'm sure the book isn't for everybody, but then what book is? If you like it, may I recommend the handy-dandy digests collecting the first 10 issues in two volumes. A third volume with issues 11-15 should be out in the spring.

And I hero you as well, Mr. Jones. Its good to hear that more digests are on the way...I really prefer that method. I buy my issues, keep 'em nice and rough up the digests with contstant reading and reference.
I definately recommend this book. Its not an adaptation, its an expansion on this new animated universe. If you dig the show at ALL, you should be reading Strikes!

He's an amazing talent. We have a Ben10 thread up where he's been talking about the show with us. He'd love to hear your comments...you can find it here: legionsofgotham.proboards70.com/index.cgi?board=bringonthebatman&action=display&thread=1135671756

I still can't get my hands on it. Waldenbooks is the only place in town that has a selection of comics, and they didn't have it on the 11th, or even a week later. Maybe I can get it real soon, I'm just glad I don't have to deal with this kinda crap all the time. Comic book stores rock. Does anyone know if perhaps this issue 'ties-in' with a batman episode? I just mean like if they try to time them coming out, like ex: the Dracula issue and movie, the following Joker issue with a Joker ep, etc. Is there a Riddler ep waiting to come out?

[shadow=green,left,300]Good question I think Riddler might have an episode soon but I have no idea when. I mean come on, they didn't put him in the theme song 3 times just to make him look nice, he deserves the spotlight too. The comic might relate to an episode but with Batgirl and Robin soon to come I doubt it. I am trying to get some scans of Batman Strikes #17 at the moment I have a few to go if I can I can send them to you and LaughinCats sometime. [/shadow]

Batman Strikes #15 with the Batman vs. Dracula tie in is the only issue that has had that degree of connection to a specific story from the TV show. We try not to contradict the stories from the show, and don't use a villain until they've had their first appearance on the show, but the comic book stories are completely original and don't fit into any specific episode-by-episode timeline.

Finally!
It's nice see some renewed action on the STRIKES threads.
I'm glad that most people enjoyed this issue....
Riddler was fun to write. A lot of work, but Jeff, Dwayne and the team on the show have created a fun take on the character. I even have another Riddler story rattling around inside my fabled gray matter.
Patience, grasshopper. We have not seen the last of him. And on the coming attractions front:
The next two issues are another notch in the pencil case of Chris. His Batgirl and Grundy are so sweet... I can't wait to see them with Terry's inks.
How they manage to get better every month, I don't know. But they do, and I'm fortunate enough to have their abilities grace my scripts.
BTW, I'm opening it up for any questions, comments and stock market tips that the LOG masses have for me. I appreciate everyone's interest in the book, so don't hesitate to leave a post if you feel so inclined. I'll respond as soon as possible.
And, as always, a shout out to the big man giving us a place to discuss all things The Batman & Strikes: Matt MacNabb, the champ behind the chat.
Thanks again. Keep reading!

[shadow=green,left,300]Oooh Mr. Bill Matheny I loved your story on Riddler I am quite impressed on the riddles as well I loved the FBI riddle. I have memorized each and every riddle in # 17 along with the cartoon, it is good to know that Riddler will be back! Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions, here's mine... Did you come up with the riddles? How long does it take for you to come up with a story? I was amazed on the riddle leading to Gotham's second largest Military base seeing I too was having a hard time, until I thought that would be too easy going to a baseball game. Thanks again.

Thank you for the kind words, Riddler! Props from the #1 fan are coveted.
As far as the questions go:
1) I do come up with the riddles... and it's not easy! Riddler has been the hardest villain to write, but that made for a fun story to construct and deconstruct several times. Hearing kind comments such as your's help make the challenge worthwhile.
2) Some stories take longer to write than others. I tend to agonize over these scripts for quite a while. I'm a bit obsessive about capturing the flavor of the series...
I've written and/or edited dozens of animation scripts and even produced a show or two along the way, and I have to say that getting the opportunity to work on Strikes has been a blessing. It ranks as one of my favorite professional experiences.
Both of my editors, Joan Hilty and Nachie Castro, have been very supportive in a myriad of ways. I owe them both a large debt of gratitude. Nachie has guided Strikes for a long time, and he deserves mucho applause for his keen editorial skills. He's the man behind the curtain.
Whew! That was long winded. Did I manage to answer your question?
Thanks! Bill
