Thanks for the riddles. You're an expert on the subject, so I'll check them out.
My favorite villains? That's a tough one...
I like several of them for different reasons.
Scarface because I am fascinated by ventriloquists and the visuals of the character(s) are so interesting.
Clayface is fun to write because of his ties with Bruce Wayne.
Catwoman is a lot of fun because she's a villain who isn't quite as nasty as the others. That ambiguity makes for juicy stories.
I also enjoyed writing Grundy.... even though he doesn't say much. His origin and tragic underpinnings are fertile ground.
Joker is, well, Joker! You've got to love him.
And, of course, Riddler. I've got to throw some love down for your main man.
In other words, I'm like a kid in the candy store when it comes to picking a favorite villain!
Finally, while not a villain, this incarnation of Batgirl is a blast. I'm enjoying the chemistry between her and Batman. She adds a jolt of youthful energy to both the series and the book.
Keep the riddles flowing, Bill

Bill - hey, great to see you posting again, man!
I've never encountered a cooler creative team that on Batman Strikes. Chris and Bill and absolutely two of the best guys I've ever had the privilege of interacting with in the industry. And so dedicated to creating something Bat-Fans will enjoy.
Bill - I have a question...with the often lack of backstories, is it within your capabilities given by your editors and DC/WB to create some backstory on any of these characters...for example, could you have a Riddler flashback to his childhood etc?

Hey, Matt!
Thanks so much for the kind words.
That's a good question, baron of the boards!
We've done a bit of that with Bane, and we touch on that with Grundy.
The short answer is yes, as long as I'm allowed to do so. It's easier with the villains who are not in many episodes, i.e. Bane and Grundy. Gearhead's another example, and I'll try that in his issue, too. We have much more latitude with them without stepping on any upcoming arcs or reveals in the animated series.
But, I am going to start to "push" as well with the better known characters when applicable. Nachie has a good sense as to how far we can go, so I'll let him slap my hand if it wanders too far astray.

I really enjoyed your expansion on Bane's past...it still stands as one of my favorite issues to date. Gearhead's episode came off a little dry for me, so I'm looking forward to your expanding his character a little bit. He needs it! Oh, and Chris drawing Gearhead...that'll be a sight to see! His Grundy is absolutely amazing. You know what character I'm wondering about...that great lawyer Joker had in issue #9...what was his name....McDaniel...McMillain...no, thats it...McNabb. Whatever happened to that outstanding pillar of the law? ;D

The last I heard he was disbarred and thrown into the clink for his disorderly conduct.
Why do you ask?

Defence Council McNabb was found dead in an alleyway in the lower East side of Gotham. Rupert Thorne could not be connected to the crime. The case is still unsolved...
