Hey Gang, I've posted some new pencils on my ComicSpace gallery and you're all invited to check them out: www.comicspace.com/christopherjones/comics.phpAdditionally, I was trying to drum up some more discussion about the book in general on here. I'd already posted some questions, but I think they got lost in a previous discussion thread and weren't widely seen, so I'm trying it again! I'd really like to hear what people think beyond the kind kudos for an individual issue. How do people think the stories compare to the ones on the show? How do you like the balance of plot to action? Do people want to see more of Bruce, Dick and Barbara in addition to Batman, Robin and Batgirl? Considering that we are probably limited to villains that have already appeared on the TV show for the comic, are there any villains that you guys think are overdue for a return appearance in the comic or are otherwise deserving of more attention? With the art, I try to stay close enough to the animation models to keep DC and WB Animation happy, but I still try to move the look of the book as far towards my own style as I can within those confines. With Batman there are very specific style guides from the show on how his cape should look and move, and as time has gone on I find myself straying further from those guides in an effort to not repeat shots and to find shots that look their best as a static image as opposed to animation. Is it working? Do you guys like the cape action? How do people like the looks of the characters overall (I'm talking in the comic, not just the animation designs from the TV show). Batman? Robin? Batgirl? Alfred? The villains? Let me know what you think. I'm not in a position to dictate stories on the book and cater to fan demands, but it's interesting to hear the feedback nonetheless. Chris

Chris [shadow=green,left,300] Chris, I love your style, your Riddler is the best character I have seen you draw in my opinion(I'm not just saying that because he's Riddler lol). For him you literally capture every face expression the guy could possibly have that the show sometimes doesn't express. I love your Joker he looks a bit different than the show seeing he isn't as menacing looking, more along the line of the ever so happy Joker we know. Personally I love the stories but would love to see more combat going on instead of a swift punch and the baddie is defeated. For instance in BS # 17 the fight between Batman and Riddler was cool, but in the upcoming #34 Robin does a jump kick and Riddler's a KO lol. I would like to see more Batgirl at times and just the Dark Knight himself. Personally I love the wise cracks the comics have, I always get a smirk out of that, quips are always nice. I love Strikes but I just wish the villains would get a little more action before it's instant blackout Your doing a wicked job Chris, along with everyone else on the BS team. [/shadow]

Hey Chris
I love your line work! and while I think Terry Beatty's inks are just as good, I like seeing the raw pencils. I think you captured the TV likeness spot-on while still adding your own touch. (i.e. Issue #31's splash page)
I'd love to see Clayface and Firefly show up a bit more in the books and maybe a story about Robin & Batgirl vs the villains' sidekicks

Sup Chris? Anyway the pencils and gallery is coolio!
Here're the answers to your questions: I think the comic stories are awesome! They are pretty much in tune with the show, in my opinion! And I love both the show and the comic! I think the balance between plot and action is balanced enough. In some issues there is more action, and in some there is more plot, some are perfectly balanced! But even if there is less of on I still love the comic! The team is just that good! I think there should be more Batman and Bruce and also the villain since they are the main characters (and they are awesome). I'm not with the whole sidekick thing! I like solo Batman!!! Yes there are villains that are overdue for an appearance like Two-Face, Ra's Al Ghul, (among others). But no I don't think a couple villains are getting to much spotlight! I can see them non-stop. I love the cape action! Batman wouldn't be Batman without it. I love the comic designs for all the characters! They are top of the line and have a certain flare to them. (But I would have to say my favorites are the Joker and Batman. And not because Joker's my favorite villain!). Overall I think you guys do a great job with The Batman Strikes!. Keep up the good work (please, lol).

I picked up the first issue of Strikes & I was completely let down. I skimed through the new issue each month & put it back down, However, I actually started enjoying it when you came on board. At first I bought it for the art, then the stories greatly improved. I'm not quite shure whether I like the series or the book better, they're both great. I like the way you draw the villians better though, & I really can't stress that enough. They look more fine tuned, or maybe it's just that your style, although similar, is more crisp than that of Lopez & the TB crew. However, I wish the stories where a bit darker, they still seem really light hearted. & It'd be great if DC gave ya'll more freedom as far as characters go, I saw that pic you drew of Two-Face for Matt. It was amazing, I'd love to see more characters from the main DCU in the series.
