Another Great Episode! I like how they are incorporating the different costumes into the cartoon as well as the toy line.

[shadow=green,left,300] Hmph....good episode despite the fact the whole "Nora Fries" storyline was eliminated...Fries was a good scientist before becoming Freeze but now just a common thug criminal?? Oh well, I enjoyed it anyway, despite the story being changed around. He was one Bad Mofo...almost as awesome as the Batman Beyond Mr. Freeze...in fact, he was exactly like the Batman Beyond Mr. Freeze. I rate the episode 8.5 out of 10.
I was curious about how they were going to handle the Firefly episode...you know, Garfield Lynns working for the singer and became Firefly...after watching the Freeze episode, now I know I can expect a complete story change.[/color][/shadow] [shadow=green,left,300] EDIT: Oh, yeah...Batmans Artic Freeze suit was the shizz...totally awesome.[/shadow]

[shadow=purple,left,300]I did enjoy this episode, with the exception of Nora Fries's MIA. I think if I try my best to ignore his past, I won't be so annoyed with Freeze's origins. Oh well...
This episode was filled with great action and animation, like always. Mr. Freeze was awesome in action, more agile and fight-worthy if you ask me. And his new look rocked! I give this episode an 8 out of 10 [/shadow]

[shadow=red,left,300]First off, let me just say that I did enjoy this episode. This new incarnation of Freeze is excellent. His origins are different than what many of us have grown accustomed to. No Nora Fries to weigh him down, this one was just a run of the mill criminal. In a battle with Bats, he accidentaly gets locked into a cryofreeze chamber, all the while being electrocuted. The Mr. Freeze that emerges has no need for a freeze gun, as his icy powers are now part of his genetic makeup, due to the accident. I really like that, as in all honesty, how in the hell will they be able to contain him. He can create ice at a whim, so I don't see where he'll need his suit to help him bust out of Arkham. But, I'm getting ahead of myself here...back to what I liked about this episode. -Seeing a more indepth look at how the Batmobile left the batcave. -Mr. Freeze himself. Much more dangerous & I like how the powers are his own. No need for a freeze gun here. -Batman drives right through Police, gung-ho style, and crashes through Freeze's icy dome. -The white, arctic suit Bats sports in the final showdown with Freeze...it was well executed and useful, except for one exception (more on that in a bit). -Bruce's connection to Fries...he's taken him down before, and in doing so led to Fries' transformation. More conflict for Bruce, as he's questioning his role as Batman. -Another flashback of that fateful night, another reminder to Bruce himself (& the viewers) of why he is doing this. -The Gilligan's Island jab at the beginning..."Skipper", "Little Buddy"..I thought those were sorta funny.
Okay, a few things that bugged me...keep in mind, these didn't ruin the episode for me.. -The cold, icy, snow, etc..related puns. "Have an ice day." When I heard that it brought back bad memories of Schwarzenagger's potrayal. Same goes for Batman, as he spouted his own puns, or comebacks. -The mini ski popping out of Batman's boots. I was taken aback by that..thankfully he didn't have to click his heels together for them to pop out. ;D
Again, this was a great episode. Clancy Brown did an excellent job as Freeze...I can't wait to see this villain make another appearance down the road. [/shadow]

[glow=blue,2,300]Okay, let me get this off my chest. In my opinion, maybe the reason why Nora Fries does not a appear in the story is because it may be way too early for Victor to marry Nora. At this stage, they may as well be boyfriend and girlfriend. Hey, who knows, you might discovered that Victor can be a thief first, then he marry is girlfriend, Nora, then she gets sick later and Mr.Freeze dicided to dedicate his life to science so he can find a way to cure Nora. FYI: DId you guys saw the picture of him and some chich (could be Nora) in the car during the flashback chase scene. ;D [/glow]

like stated before the past of freeze was changed well i didnt like that o well either no passion or desire no sense of cause. but hey freeze was awsome i liked the fact he didnt need his freeze ray and i loved batmans new suit i love the way they incoraprate the toys into the show vice versa batman is so cool dealing with teh fact he is new and he hasnt completey come to grips that he is BATMAN and he did not create but defeats the evil that is. I must say it just gets better with every epsisode.

another awesome episode, though the Man Bat one is still my favorite.
in addition i can now safely say after watching every episode of The Batman numerous times and also reflecting back to BTAS (which i have both the Columbia House DVD collection up to DVD 14 to this point and also the WB box set) that i actually prefer the "look" of The Batman. Bats looks incredible in this series. Great job, Matsuda!!! also, Romano is doing an incredible job. Conroy's are hard shoes to follow but props to Romano for a great job!!
can't wait till next week!!!

I'm split on how I feel about this episode
on the one hand, it sure was fun to watch with lots of action and good pacing... on the other, they took away everything that made Mr.Freeze special and knocked him back down to "generic ice themed thug", it seems completely counter productive.
I like bad puns so I could tollerate that (althought I'm upset he didn't say "Have an ICE day!" or bite into a pop-tart and yell "So hot they're cool!!! You can FREEZE 'em and eat 'em!") but the reference to Nora kinda upset me and wish they had just left it out (it seemed like the pictures were thrown in as an Easter egg to fans of his BTAS origin rather then meant to mean anything to his past... I mean, if he's so revenge driven he froze the hobo, you'd think the fact he would have lost Nora/whoever that girl was would have erked him off real good)
Oh well, I guess what I'm saying is I liked this other origin better, but the show was fun so I'd be willing to look past such as long as all future Mr.Freeze episodes are so entertaining

fun episode, but the fact that he was a common thug before made me angry and it takes 5 pts from this ep...
5 out of 10
other than that, it was freaking awesome.
i love the batmobile how its in every episode.

Basically, it was a great episode, I liked "The Man Who Would Be Bat" better, but this one is about an 8 out of 10, just because they really messed with Freeze's origin, and Nora is out of the picture (as far as we know...), I do like Mr. Freeze's new look/attitude in general, and the waythe "anti-freeze" suit came in kinda like the figure was a nice touch. The ending was a tad "rushed", IMO...but other then that, I'm definetely looking foward to "The Big Heat", next Saturday!

Cool. The absence of Nora turned me off a bit, too, but I still like this Mr. Freeze and this episode. Love his ice powers, no gun this time, anti-freeze suit was awesome, great action, neat how they keep having Bruce think he might be influencing these villains, and the Batmobile rocks! I still like the Man-bat ep best, but this on gets a 9/10 from me, although I might be too generous. ;D Love this show!

I enjoyed this episode, the action was top notch and the anti-freeze suit was cool (no pun intended). I think they were smart to change Freeze's origin because it would have been impossible to top Paul Dini's take on it. I don't think any Mr. Freeze story will ever live up to "Heart Of Ice" but this episode was very good in it's own right.

Another great episode! When I first heard that Mr. Freeze would be starting out as a bank robber, I wasn't to shore how well that would come out. But the episode was really good. Mr. Brown did a great job with the voice work. I wonder if the woman in the photos with Victor is named Nora.

[glow=red,2,300]My favorite episode yet! This new god-like freeze i could definately get used to, especially when he claims himself the true emperor of Gotham. This Freeze was a bad@$$. Perhaps one of my favorite parts of the episode was when he explains to Batman the stages of hypothermia (it's is tight how he knows the extent of his abilities). Though many miss the Nora-themed motivation, i found the new origin as a nice refreshment to the story of Victor Friez. Freeze IMO is one the most dangerous villians now in the Matsuda universe. I have always found myself fascinated by ice themed characters (Sub-zero, Mr. Freeze, Ice-man, etc..) so this episode just kept gettin' better when Freeze made the ice dome. Before i end this i can't stop from sayin' at least one bad pun, so here it goes: I guess you could say that Freeze was a cold-hearted killer of hobo's. [/glow]

While I think that the endless comparison of this series to the previous Batman series is invevitable (if unfortunate), I think it's unfair to talk about how they "eliminated" Nora Fries or "changed his origin" from the B:TAS version, as the Nora and the sympathetic/tragic take on the character were ORIGINAL to B:TAS. The origin seen here I think is actually closer to the original Mr. Freeze origin from his earlier Mr. Zero days.
Of course the original spin from this incarnation is the alteration of Freeze's nature - with Freezing powers rather than a need for sub-zero cold for survival.
I think the challenge with this version of the character will be to create interesting motivations for the character in future stories. Stealing diamonds is going to get old pretty quick. In his current state, what would he do with them?

Hm. I may be completely wrong about this, but wasn't Nora an invention o B:TAS, which the comics adopted later? I think I heard that somewhere.
If that's the case, then it doesn't make sense to complain that she's not there.
But, whatever.
They've changed so much of the rest of the characters, and the thing that's a problem for you guys is there's no woman in an icetray somewhere?
Pfah!

Hm. I may be completely wrong about this, but wasn't Nora an invention o B:TAS, which the comics adopted later? I think I heard that somewhere. That's correct Ralph. I posted a synopsis of how Freeze originally started out - it's around here somewhere. Really, the Freeze we saw today is much closer to the original than TAS was. Found it. Here's some info on Mr. Freeze, or as he was called in his first appearance, Mr. Zero. "In “The Ice Crimes of Mr. Zero!” (Batman #121, February 1959) Batman and Robin first encountered Mr. Zero, a criminal scientist whose research in creating an “ice gun” backfires when he accidentally spills the chemical solution on himself, lowering his core temperature and forcing him to live in a zero-degree environment. With his air-conditioned costume and now-perfected ice gun. Mr. Zero goes on a chilly crime wave in Gotham, even succeeding in freezing Batman and Robin in solid blocks of ice. Batman manages to escape by rocking his ice block into a heating pipe, engulfing the room in hot steam, which coincidentally manages to cure Mr. Zero in the process." He started out pretty lame if you ask me. Really, it wasn't until the TAS "Heart of ice" ep that most people really liked the character.

Gonna take some time to get used to this new thug version of Freeze. It's an interesting take on the character. As for the diamonds he's stealing, I'm wondering if they're to power his suit/weapons [like in [shudder...YES, I'm gonna mention this...] Batman and Robin.
Anti-Freeze Bat-Suit looked very menacing and ninja-like! The heated gauntlet fins and explosive batarangs were nice to see in action.
The Mr. Freeze in other incarnations wouldn't have fallen for the exhaust of the Batmobile trick. ["I didn't go to evil medical school for seven years to be called Mr Evil!"]
It's a great show.

yup, it was good.
still, i would have at least loved if he was a scientist before. and the hobo blasting thins was soooo freaking funny! how he just saw him and whoosh! he's forzen!!OMG,t hat cracked me up..it was interesting how he blamed half the thing on the poor hobo. lol.
but the norah and the non scientist thing but a common jewel diamond thief thing turned me off...manbat is the best episode ever...now...let us home that firefly hs a good story to tell. i hopoe he's a pyromaniac and not just a guy who dresses ina light up christmas suit.
