Its been quite a ride, hasn't it fans? Just think, a year ago we were just welcoming this show to the air, and to very mixed fan review...now, we're all excited for season 3! Bring on Poison Ivy and The Batgirl! remember to visit our industry interaction board to submit questions to Piera Coppola, the voice of Ivy. I'll take questions til Saturday night!

just based on the lead-in...I'm PSYCHED!
this is fantastic.
I suspect reactions to the new theme will be mixed. I've had months to get used to it, and I dig it now...but it took awhile.
Piera - you ROCK!

ok I have mixed feelings. 1 the theme is reminiscent of the 60's tv show. But cant stand it. Pierra rocks! Best Ivy I've ever seen. Babs is perfect. A mix between the old school & well something. The episode was top notch. & I know a little about Temblor now. Very good ep. one of my favorites. 9 out of 10

Just got done watching and it was another great episode. Poison Ivy is GREAT AWESOME JOB PIERA! ! ! I am glad to see they are sticking with Poison Ivy having something to do with being an environmental activist, great twist with the hiring of The Tumbler, who was pretty neat as a villian.
Even though he has only been on two episodes Commissioner Gordon is slowly becoming my favorite character on the show. Any chance you can get his Porkchop recipe /\/\att (just kidding)
I am not sure I am sold on Batgirl, my feelings on her are well known I am not a fan at all, but watching today's episode I didn't mind seeing her so much, next week's conclusion will tell if I can be turned to liking Batgirl.
My question is why didn't they have an hour long episode to welcome in the new lineup? That would have been cool.
I like the new intro theme to The Batman
8.0/10.0

You know how the WB is. They always keep us waiting with the 2 parters.
Anyway, I have mixed reviews. I liked the episode, but I didn't really like the new opening. I mean, the entrance was great, but I would've kept the old theme.
When Temblor was talking to his boss, I actually thought it was Bane. It sounded like him, right? But next week, we'll finally see Barbara in her "debut" as Batgirl and what happens with her, Batman, and Ivy. Piera did a good job as her. She was alot better than Uma Thurman.

Wow! I was blown away! I watched with my six year old daughter and she was glued to her seat as was I. The theme is like the 60s version but I think we'll get used to it. I really liked the theme by The Edge but they've taken it up a notch. Higher paced for kids. As far as the epidode, I knew nothing going in and liked how all the characters were tied toghther in some way. I'd say it moved fast, had nice twists, Gordon and Babs relationship was outstanding, still plenty of Batman and Alfred to go around, just SUPER!

[shadow=purple,left,300]I thought "Batgirl Begins" was a pretty cool episode. I found the first few minutes extremely slow, but luckily it picked up around the middle. It was nice to see some true character development between Gordon and his daughter.
I thought the Temblor was a great addition to the show. It goes to show that the crew has the same abilities as the BTAS team to expand the Batman universe beyond what's already been established.
Adding to that, I think their new spins on both Babs and Pam Isely worked perfectly for "The Batman." I'm looking forward to next week's conclusion to see how well they portray Batgirl and Poison Ivy.
I give it an 8.5/10.
By the way, the new theme is awesome.[/shadow]

It is, indeed, hard to believe that it's only been a year since The Batman's debut and already it has become a better series with a more mature tone and stronger storylines.
Good episode.
I missed "Night and the City" so seeing Commissioner Gordon for the first time was awesome and took a bit taking used to, especially the Batsignal part.
Good interaction between father and daughter.
Temblor was alright. Nothing spectacular, but definitely necessary for the story.
Interesting Poison Ivy origin- I prefer it over the one involving Jason Woodrue.
Can't wait for Batgirl's origin next week.
The new theme will take getting used to. I was hoping for something darker or more heroic. Any chance we can get an mp3 of the new theme, too?

Excellent episode.
-- I liked the new Hawaii Five-O meets Adam West Batman theme although it doesn't really fit the sensibility of the show -- especially when the incidental music in the episode is the same as before. Still dig the tune though.
-- I very much liked Barbara and I liked her relationship with single dad Gordon. It felt right. I also liked the Barbara-Pamela connection.
-- I had my doubts about Temblor going in but he was a pretty good villain. TAS added to the mythos so I suppose it's only fair that this show try to do the same.
-- Pacing was very solid and the storytelling was more complex than some other episodes. Having it be two parts allowed the story to unfold in a deeper way, relatively speaking.
An all around nice job. I very much look forward to next week's episode. A healthy kickoff to the third season.

amazing work The Bat team!!
batgirl! the only thing that bothered me was her facial expression. she seemed lost.. not in control. maybe that's her current state in moving into Gotham. ;D
i like the highly animated plants. they were scary :] i really like ivy's facial expressions. she knew what she was doing throughout her scheme. :]
temblor. amazing. just a little bit, he reminds me of bane. :[ however, i like his abilities to shake the ground!
the bat intro. the music was interesting. i would have to hear it again. i only wish they created an entirely new intro. on a second thought maybe not.. it works. we will all have to get use to the montage.
good work guys.. i can't wait for part 2

OMG Amazing, it's like a whole new show and i love it! Theme song is catchy wish there were more new clips in it, perhaps they will change it when the new batmobile is introduced. Poison Ivy's orgin is the best yet for her charecter, and Gordon is great he brings so much more to the table! and btw Barbra/Batgirl is the cutest thing ever! just based on the lead-in...I'm PSYCHED! this is fantastic. I suspect reactions to the new theme will be mixed. I've had months to get used to it, and I dig it now...but it took awhile. Piera - you ROCK! Youve had it for months and youve been holding out on us?!?! jk

Youve had it for months and youve been holding out on us?!?! jk Yeah we first saw it around March I think? Matt told everyone there would be a new intro coming soon. When it didn't show up at the beginning of season 2, everyone thought he was wrong. I guess it was changed to season 3 when WB decided to brake the original 26 ep season 2 into a 13 ep season 2 and a 13 ep season 3. As usual, LOG is where you get the news about The Batman - months in advance.

Wow, the pics I saw are amazing. The look of Pamela reminds me of Batman & Robin. Her origin sounds great and I like that she is a tragical charakter... The last scene where her eyes are glowing looks great. It looks like all animations has been improved since season 2. The story sounds so great and it looks like everybody like this episode! I read through different boards and everybody says that the series has improved 100%. Even people who don't like the series so far, like this episode a lot. Everybody likes Batgirl, Ivy, Gordon and Temblor! This is great, I think this season will give the series some new fans Great work Matsuda and Bat-Team Can't wait for Part 2 with how Barbara becomes Batgirl and more of Ivy! I feel with you SRA!!!! Even if the series was very succesfull here in Germany (they'll re-run it again in October!), the woun't show season 3 until 2006 But you can see 80 pics on BYTB: www.another batman site/animated/thebatman/eps/ep27/ep27grab65.jpg

Why is this on at 830 in the morning! I only caught the last 10 minutes, and thought they were fantastic. I've never really liked this show too much, but this was probably the best 10 minutes of the show I've seen and now i cant wait for next week's episode.

ive only been able to see a handful of these shows since its debut due to work. the ones i have seen havent really done anything for me, and this episode was no exception. the new intro music is terrible. doesnt fit the show. or at least the show they are trying to present this to be. i did like the link with Ivy and Barbara. Ivy was about what we have come to expect from the character, aside from the young age, but that was overlookable. the eco-fanatic who gets exposed to some type of chemical to her body that transforms her. Temblor was nothing special, Shriek from Beyond had a cooler look imo, they are basically the same character. i didnt quit get the cop/Batman relationship. like i said i have only seen a handful of episodes so it was a little hard trying to figure how he went from being a hunted vigilante to openly assisting Gordon. and it seemed as if Gordon is letting Batman do the work then the cops will show up. all in all i was very un impressed with this one, it was a typical saturday morning cartoon. on my meter id give it a 6/10. something to watch for 20 minutes.

Thumbs up for "Batgirl Begins", I enjoyed it very much (the naration was cute). The new theme...well, lets just say it's going to have to "grow" on me (pun intended), it sounds like the theme from "Hawaii Five-0 to me and that was the stuff! Great job Batman team, you never leave me disapointed!

OMG SUCH A GREAT EPISODE! Piera I love you! New theme is gonna take some getting use too. I agree with that. But the scenes are really cool especially when they had the gallery of rogues! That was cool. Temblor is an awesome villain. I love his action scenes. A great addition. Batgirl and Poison Ivy are unbelievable. I think I have a crush on Barbara >_< haha Can't wait till next week!

Wow - I can't believe the mixed reviews this episode is getting. This is absolutely one of the two or three best episodes of the series so far, and it's only Part One! The Bond-esque opening was terrific, the Babs-as-Patty Duke (the older fans will know what I mean) narration was a kick, a teenage Pam as a daredevil eco-terrorist (with a juvenile record) is perfect...every note of this story, every step in the action, was poetry in motion for me. Temblor was a welcome, refreshing change: this show has needed a no- nonsense, money-grubbing, (relatively) sane criminal, in a key role, for a while now. The plot had some complexity, as others have noted, but still plenty of action; the action had a bracing effect, since it was woven in and out of the story through flashbacks. I loved it! 10/10 ;D
The song was way cool, too - U2 meets The Ventures at a Fleshtones gig.

I told you guys, that theme takes some getting used to...give it some time..it may grow on you...or maybe it won't, lol.
I loved the characterizations of both babs/pam and batgirl/ivy. Their relationship was very developed throughout the episode. I really enjoyed the banter between Gordon and Barbara, as well.
Piera was outstanding. Best Ivy to date, IMO. I loved the new origin.
Temblor - despite using one too many puns, I still dug him. I hope to see him used again at some point. Perhaps teaming with Bane. I'm a sucker for those high-powered team-ups.
Batgirl was wonderful...not too perky or teen...she was just right. I think she's just what the show needs to send Batman into the backdrop a little...to give him a darker, quiter more menacing feel. She'll be a great contrast.
all in all, 15 out of 20
best episode yet.
