I've had lots of free time to read comics since my divorce I've noticed that it would seem that the writers are running out of ideas for the "Trinity" of DC: Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman( I also noticed some issues with the Green Lantern as well) I'm guessing that since the three have been out for so long (Batman:1939; Superman 1938; and Wonder Woman 1944) that there's not alot of story line left for them. , and as much I hate to say this, maybe it's time to retire the "Trinity" with dignity.

The lack of ideas isn't just in comic books. Look at tv and movies. What was the last just great original think you saw ? Been awhile hasn't it. There's just no new blood in entertainment these days. And until we stop buying and consuming the unoriginal stuff they put out, we won't get anything original.
If its not broke don't fix it. It it's bringin in the dough, why strive for something better. stuff like that.

Good points all around. it's just I'd hate to see the Cornerstones of the DCU become just fodder for wallet lining. They deserve much better

obviously none of you have heard about Final Crisis. the Fifth World hasnt been introduced before this event, so that's a new idea.

I'll give you thats a new idea. But its not really that original. Its just to easy to think "well what if somethings above that ?". Also this kindof changing of the guard always happens. Power Rangers have been doing it since the begining. Theres always that one bigger bad out there... every new season.
Also part of it to me seems that every original idea entertainment tries to parade around in the end is nothing but a publicity stunt. Thats what I feel Batman RIP is, nothing but a publicity stunt..

There is of course some truth to the fact that more "original" ideas are fewer and farther between than ever before (in every aspect of life and entertainment). But I think its more the fact the owners of these particular properties are just more inclined to maintain the "status quo" than anything else. This is true of all such properties but DC/WB always seems to play things especially safe. These are long standing money making franchise characters which DC/WB aint about to take any real risks with. They rarely ever have.

Ah, yes the so called "Final Crisis" (Geez, how many many freekin crisis does DC need?) Killing Batman would I think be retarded but then hey, Wonder Woman and Supes have "died" but again, killing off a major char isn't new.(And yes as one of those who paid to have Jason Todd killed, I'm fairly butt sore about him being alive again, I feel as if I wasted my coin) Which is why I really feel that they should retire the old war horses.
