Hey Everyone! I hope you all had a nice holiday.
I wanted to post here and let you know that we're coming back strong in 2007 with an updated look and a renewed focus.
I'd like to start a discussion here about what you enjoy about LoG, what you'd like to see come back and what you need out of a Batman fansite!
Do you enjoy the interviews? Do you need your comics news fix? Here just for animation news and pics or do you come for the toys?
Let me know here what you need and what you want so I can keep that in mind while my nose is buried deep in the computer screen for the next while!
and of course we'll keep the forum up and running so we can still share news and chat!

Fantastic! I'm glad I was able to find my way back cause I was lost for a bit lol. I'm excited for whats you have in store for LoG in the new year Matt.
For me, the single greatest and most enjoyable aspect is the interaction within the forum.
I especially enjoy the toy news/updates personally and I really enjoy the interviews with industry folks you manage to hook us up with.
Nothing against it, but I think the most expendable area would be the regular comics news. Major info/announcements, changes, and such of general interest is all thats really needed imo. I think if you care about the information, you already know most of it or at least the particulars.

UPDATE:
ok, tonight I consolidated some of the boards here and re-worked things a bit. Let me know what you think. The forum banner and backround will obviously be changing soon.

So far its hard to say. I cant really see any obvious changes to the boards and much of the site is still wonky on my end due to the construction lol.
I dont think I particularly care for the "bullet" icon / image being used on the left of the boards at the moment (if it's staying?). Its cool but kinda odd and can see it getting old fast.
I think at this stage too, some boards could easily be condensed. Thinks like the toy questions and reviews and the bat gaming, Legos, and retro toy sections could be consumed by other more active related boards?

Wel im very glad it's back cause when i went to legionsofgotham.org it said server not found, but im glad its still alive. I really like the colors and symbols, i like that they are more modern batman. The interview i think are what makes this place great because the bat industry come here to give the scoop. My favirite part is seeing the reactions everbody has to episodes, movies, casting, comics, and then getting there ideas on what they would have changed or what they want for a sequal.
As for the comics, to me there are so many comics coming out every week that it's hard to keep up on a forum. I think maybe a topic that just states new comics coming out without discussion and then discussions topics for individual series and/or issues.

this is the first time Ive been able to access LoG in 2 days, and I still had a heck of a time with it. I finally managed to find a link on Google that allowed it to load. Im also getting alot of Red X's. I mean, ALOT.
I think a revamp is gonna be cool. Just hope the bugs get worked out.

I have been having a great holiday. Final Fantasy XII is AWESOME!!! But for suggestions, I don't really have any. The only thing that I would like is if there were more Batman related things going on. We are down to only one Batman related cartoon and a long wait for the next movie. My interest do not go to either the toys or the comics, so I just want there to be more things going on. Anybody want to produce a Batman pilot with me? lol

For me, the forum is the only section of LoG that is indispensable. Member fiction, artwork and such could find a better home than in here. Movie news is something that batman-on-film. com does better. I like the product galleries, but again, that info is available elsewhere. I do dig seeing other collections of LoG members, and that should remain part of the new site as well. As far as the comic news, it's not something I regularly check, so for me personally I wouldn't miss it. The strength of this forum has always been the members, who (for the most part) are thoughtful, knowledgeable Batman fans. The member forum should exist for discussion, questions, trading and such, but keep it Batman-related only, with no Spidey, no wrestling, no Star Wars, no Superman, no "Family Guy" - all cool topics, and we all love 'em, but let 'em have their own forum! |

I, too nearly had a heart attack when I saw that "server not found" message. For me, the most important parts of the LoG forum and site are the Batman comic book section, as I enjoy sharing info on upcoming titles and stories, reviewing and seeing reviews of comics, and generally discussing the first medium from which Bats emerged, and of course, the toy sections, since there is so much great stuff coming out in that area, and it's essential to have a big section for news, opinions, and findings regarding the action figure and toy lines, IMO. Although those are my mainly frequented sections, I get so much out of the movie boards, and greatly enjoy the animation sections and everything else. In a nutshell, I come to LoG for news and info, and stay for the members and the discussion. So glad to see LoG is still going strong, and going to make 2007 another batty year. |

Wow, what a mission it is to get on. I had to piggy back onto google searches. Didnt realize that this site is like crack to me now...i just needed a fix ha ha ha ha. 2007 is going to be great for all of us!!! I am looking forward to the revamp of the site...but why fix something that aint broke? Yeah design is great but you folks have done such an amazing job then why tinker with it? Here is to 2007 and all the endless things for Batman that are coming out!!!

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone. Keep it coming! its really very helpful.
One of the problems is that I tried to create a one-stop Batman shop, and truly a site like that, when dealing with such a huge and epic character, lose a lot of quality.
Our new focus will be narrowed to the roots of this site and my true passions.
Movie news - yeah thats BOF all the way. No one will deny that. There really isn't point in anyone else having it. We had a few scoops for Batman Begins, like the first pic of Christian Bale in the suit, but these days, Its just better to let Jett handle things on that end.
As for comics, that is only one board and it will definately stay, as will probably our comic book bios and other small details. This is a character that is rooted in the comics and we'll definately have some small areas dedicated to that.
but honestly, our focus will be toys, merchandise and animation. We've been the top spot for 'The Batman' since day one and most definately for Bat-merchandise as well.
I'd love to hear more about what you all thinK!

Question.. ...does anyone care about the Superman board? To tell the truth, I could personally do just fine without it. I enjoy Superman almost as much as I do Batman, but a Superman board on LoG will always be limited to pretty basic, generalized Supes conversation, IMO, since the character is not the focus of the forum, so I would definitely understand if you were to remove it. Superman comics are discussed in the comics board, and I feel that's enough. |

I for one, am happy to hear that LoG is going back to it's roots. The number one reason I came here was to meet other collectors, share our finds, admire one anothers collections, etc.
Toy news is an invaluable part of this site, current or old. I do hope that the merchandise archives make a return as those are an invaluable guide to collectors.
It seems that over time that aspect of this site has been pushed to the backburner. Mind you, I enjoy movie news, updates on upcoming comics, tv shows, etc. Anything doing with the Bat. But collecting and interacting with other collectors is where my heart lies when it comes to this site.

Glad to hear that LOG will be back!
I personally love the interviews, weather it is toy related or based on The Batman!
For me the board is very important for THE Batman tv show, because it was from the beginning very open minded about it and I can talk here in a positive way with other fans about it!
With the time, other sites also talk positive about it, but only here at LOG, people didn't bash it!
So, the toy and tv show related things are the most important to me and I also would mind to talk here more about Batman comics and games!
I would like to see it as a "Batman only" board...

Superman board I never really looked at or was interested in I like supe's but was never bothered about new news apart form maybe the odd movie related stuff.[/glow]

I agree with everyone about superman. I dont
think it need its own board. If there was some
huge news about him, it could go in The Gathering
with most other superhero news.
I like the new logo as well.

How about maybe partnering with other sites to cover everything Batman? Something like a link on LOG sending people to BOF for Film news, Newsarma for comic, etc. it return for a link back to LOG.
BOF could do a link to LOG sending people here to see the new movie toys and so on.

I dont think that would work. i think something great about LoG is our discussions and we should be able to discuss everything here. Removing any big part of the Batman universe, like movies or comics, makes the forum incomplete. After all not everyone here is into toys or movies or cartoons, so we have to appeal to every batfan. |

Alright the Supes board is gone for now.
Damn boyscout!
I've been working overtime on site design. I'm working on some unique ideas..the site will definately be more catered to my personal style rather than the boring template formate I had going before. I'm sure not everyone will enjoy it..but I will! lol.

Matt, if I may make a suggestion while you are redoing the site. If you still have the domain legionsofgotham.org (which I assume you do) and hosting for it, it might be a good idea to just make an index.html that redirects or configure the domain itself to point to the forums instantly when you go to legionsofgotham.org That way those who are still lost and not savvy enough to either have the boards in their faves or find it my other means could still get here. Just a thought.
