I'm still upset that Teen Titans and Justice League are gone. But Krypto? Not so much.

Well, it did make a compelling point about licensing and manufacturing. However, the fact that a show such as Bobobo is still running whereas JLU and TT are not, is purely unacceptable. This clearly states that they do not get as much money from DC or anime. So based on ratings and overall quality, this only reminds me how angry I am at CN. I don't even care for Krypto. It is too childish for me. But the fact that it is the last DC property and the "supposed" reasoning thoroughly upset me.

Thats the hard facts about a show. We, as fans, can say that we want Krypto to stick around for the principle of the thing..but we're not watching it or buying the products...so how can we honestly expect it to survive? Its geared towards pre-schoolers. My little ones LOVE it...and they're supposed to. I can tolerate it because its a DC related toon..it I weren't watching that it'd just be Arthur or Dragon Tales..and i'd rather watch and expose my kids to the DC Universe......
...but fans can't complain..you don't support the show, what do you expect? I tried to get people, especially parents here, behind Krypto and no one was interested much. When I spoke with Scott Jeralds on the phone, I expressed similar worry...this doesn't really come as a shock.

That is true. I currently no one in the age group that Krypto would support. I am not that great with kids. And I can say with quite a bit of confidence that I am a long way off from fatherhood.
As far as support, I put my full support into JLU and TT. That didn't stop them from cancelling. How is Krypto going to survive when it is part of DC and only appeals to a limited audience?

Your points on JLU and TT are very valid...its kind like the whole "if you didn't vote then you don't have the right to complain" mentality that people have with politics. You did give it your best...and we do have the right to complain about those two shows being cancelled.......but in fairness, not much does last past five seasons these days.....and I hope for a bright future in DC animation over the next decade..things constantly flux..and great new things will come our way soon enough!

[shadow=green,left,300] Krypto I actually thought was a pretty nice show for the young ones. I know most people don't enjoy it but this is quite sad, I do put forth support to the show it was good. Now my question is why are they cancelling the descent/ good shows and putting on such crap on tv? I mean I can't stand, "My Gym Partner's A Monkey" and they keep it on the air, I wish they would have kept TT and JLU. But like Matt says, " If you didn't vote, you don't have a right to complain."[/shadow]

Ah yes, the five season curse. Yes, it is true that getting past that in today's world is a milestone. And with a constant ratings war, it does make shows difficult to keep in production. And because there is always new shows, you can bet that a show that you love will get cancelled eventually. But then there will be a show that replaces that one. There will always be something to like. Let's just hope that we get some great new shows that we find just as good if not better than that which has been lost.

You may be too young to remember, but man the 80s were amazing! Its been downhill since the mid-90s. The only saving grace ever was the Timmverse. Now that its gone, there isn't much to bring me into animation! Its sad...but I'm hoping its only part of a cycle and things will turn around again soon!

I'll tell you this they mabye have taken away the Timmverse from us but they can never take back the memories and precious times we've had. I really hope 'The Batman' can continue I put ALOT of support towards it, plus with it's amazing cast and crew it makes it quite more amazing than it is. I have been telling the people on Robert Englund's site about him as Riddler and Faust on the Justice League and some have asked me if figures are possible, they are quite fond of the show now and been trying to get a hold of some merchandise. I know if we help support it we are at least doing our part, hopefully in the future luck will come our way. [/shadow]

What are some of the classics from the '80's? Thats completely subjective...but in my mind: Masters of the Universe Thundercats GI Joe Transformers REAL Ghostbusters Filmation Ghostbusters (just for me) Ducktales Care Bears JEM My Little Pony Superfriends Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles She-Ra Most of these are things that made such an impact on us kids then that they've revived them now.....I highly doubt we'll see a revivial of sponge bob or My Gym partner is a monkey in twenty years...the shows and subsequent toy tie-ins just aren't making the same type of impact.

Since I am nearly 50 I may have a more objective view, as far as a comparison of the cartoons that are produced now and those from past decades...I will say that "SpongeBob Squarepants" is one of the funniest cartoons EVER produced, even going back to the Looney Tunes of the 40s and 50s. I immediately recognized the quality of the writing in that show, and the brilliant characterizations of the different characters. I would venture that "SpongeBob" will be a revered show for a long, long time - certainly longer than any on the list above, with the possible exception of "Superfriends", although that show remains unwatchable for me, as it always has.

Yeah, I was a huge fan of TMNT. I also liked Real Ghostbusters and Thundercats. I really liked Beast Wars, but I never could get into Transformers. I guess I just like animals more than cars.

But yeah a guy who fights weird creatures with kong fu nose hairs and his partner fart lad I'm impressed They seriously need to get Thundercats back and all the classic shows!! I hope they make the new Thundercats like Matt told us a while back, I wish they would put The Batman on cartoon network seeing it's shown on their website and would make it spread more. They say Bane is too violent well look at Zatch bell he has a puppet that can blast people and not to mention his show is boring along with Code Lyoko and Naruto!!! I wish we could do something about it. [/shadow]

No offense, but thats fairly subjective and depends entirely on your view of what is "funny" I grew up watching re-runs of merry melodies and I far prefer that type of humor.

No offense, but thats fairly subjective and depends entirely on your view of what is "funny" I grew up watching re-runs of merry melodies and I far prefer that type of humor. Sure, no offense taken. I know that this type of discussion is totally subjective. I didn't like everything from that era; for example, the Pink Panther cartoons of the 1960s were terrible, IMO. In the 80s I was in my twenties, and it is kind of a black hole in my cartoon experience, since I wasn't up early too many Saturday mornings. For anyone who watches comedy, cartoons or otherwise, there seems to be a simple rule - if you laugh, it is funny...if you don't, it's not. As for the adventure-type shows, such as MOTU or Thundercats, I think that your age at the time that you watched them is a huge factor. I mean, I loved Jonny Quest when I was 7 or 8 years old, but by the time "Superfriends" came on I was in my teens, and I thought it was stupid, about as bad as Scooby Doo (another show I hated). All I know is that I laughed at Foghorn Leghorn, I laughed at "Ren and Stimpy", I laughed at "Dexter's Lab", and I laugh at SpongeBob Squarepants. ;D
