howsabout new accessory packs? I'd love to see a bat themed pack with hair pieces, weapons and capes...especially that yellow Robin cape. Great idea Blocko; I'd pick up two of those, especially if they include capes and an extra bat-cowl that I could paint blue! And thanks for those Viking sketches Bonven! You minifigure designer guys do great work! Was that minifigure torso in the middle even used? I don't remember purchasing a Viking with that design (the fur is a nice touch!).

Here's a general design question, Bonven. When you're designing an in house non licenced minifig character, do you try to include (read:sneak in, lol) elements or styles of characters that you'd love to have made into official minifigs. For example, if I had to do an adventurers line I'd include an Indiana Jones. leather jacket wearing character and a ripped shirt Doc Savage character.

....but howsabout new accessory packs?
Unfortunately our contracts goes for construction based toy in a certain scale. Accessory packs are not construction, even though you can give a figure new hats and other costumes items.
Besides if we started doing something like this, less people would buy the boxes with those items...(yeah I know, it's sneaky)
Is Robin really that popular? would you like a small box with him on some small vechicle? I can't guarantee it will happen, but it's something i can suggest for the next series.
Was that minifigure torso in the middle even used? I don't remember purchasing a Viking with that design (the fur is a nice touch!).
To me it looks like the torso of the guy with the yellow upper body, minus the fur.

I always try to sneak in stuff...But usually not something for figures we don't have licenses to. For examble, you can be certain that when you see a number that's 5 digits long, that its some designers employee number. For the Train station (4513) I snuck in the old space logo and for the xxl crane (7249) i made one of the figures to look like myself (same face that i use for my avatar).
Sometimes I do try to make some decals that can be used for something known, like in the 4511 Train set, there's a black upper body with a white shirt and black tie. Perfect for a Men In Black.
For Batman I kept the in jokes within the Batman universe, except for one place. There's a Gotham city map on the big screen in the Batcave. That's really the city I live in.

Thanks for the answers. A Robin w/ Redbird car would be great or howsabout a Robin vs Harley ? Personally I just really want the yellow cape for MOCs.

Bonven, the Batman minifig shown w/ the dragster at the NY Toyfair has the "capsule" belt however all box art shows the pouches, which Bats is included in the set? You can see it HERE . Also, now that everthing is out in public could you let us in on the surprise re: Batman's cowl?

Bonven, A question about minifig head design - When you come up with a new sort of head design, such as the Exoforce heads - do you test it with existing hair/hat pieces to make sure it looks right?

Hello! I'm new here and my son and I are very excited about the new Lego Batman line. In reviewing the NY Toy Fair photos, Batman's cowl looks "rough" or speckled, instead of smooth. Also, some of the Batman uniforms don't match the final box art we've seen recently. Were prototype figures used for the Batman line for the Toy Fair?
Thanks, Steve

Thanks, Steve Yes, those are prototypes that were used for Toy Fair photos. As an example, the blue & grey Batman shown in the Batwing IS NOT being released. It was initially in the assortment, but was pulled. (Damn shame too if you ask me - I REALLY want the blue & grey one - but I'd settle for owning one of the prototypes...hint hint! ;D ) Hope that helps!

Hey Bonven, did you design the Spngebob Minis?
They look really good, and I might pick up a few sets.

Hey,Bonvon two three quick quistions.... 1) Why do lego mini figs never have boots ,like on the Batman? I can answer this one. I asked why Robin had all green sleeves - rather than short sleeves and gloves, while I was in CT. I was told that the additional cost for paint apps are cost prohibitive so arms and legs usually are one solid color. (Please correct me if I'm wrong on this Bonven. ;D )

Ill proberly put boots and the gloves on using a black marker! And the small section under the belt ! So there's no grey bit showing !!! ;D And I would be glad to do it for everyone else!! (thats of course if Bonvon doesnt mind)

Sorry ive been away for a while... Have a quick question about Harry Potter Lego... Will we be seeing additional sets to the Goblet of Fire? i felt a little cheated when Cedric Diggory didnt appear as a minifigure in the graveyard scene, also would of been nice to have the girl with the chairot set. A Maze lego piece would of been cool too.

I always try to sneak in stuff...For the Train station (4513) I snuck in the old space logo... I would like to personally extend my gratitude to you for that. The new space torso has got to be one of the coolest minifig designs I've seen in a while and with nothing spacey but Star Wars on the shelves since 2001, good ol' LEGO Classic-Space fans needed a boost of morale. Thanks, Chriss!(Now, when can we see them in some other colors? )

Welcome Draykov. That space jacket design is one of the better minifig torsos to come along in a while. I agree that different colours would be great for different ranks or divisions.

Thanks, Blocko. It's good to be here. Whoa Draykov....I'm thanking you! now which sets did you buy to get all those (if all of them are from the trainstation you should get a medal or sumpthin) No, no...nothing like that. I found a Bricklink seller who, apparently, scored a bunch of them from the local LEGO store in California. She was selling them at a very reasonable price, so I couldn't resist the urge to create all the minifig manpower needed to man a fleet of yet to built spaceships. It's a great design! Just the right balance of classic space and Star Trek.

[glow=green,2,300]Hey Bonven, I'm new to this discussion but you said there was not going to be spider-man 3 sets? AHH no venom. Also one thing I would like to see is sets that feature origins such as ace chemicals for joker and two-face.[/glow]
[glow=blue,2,300]Congrats to the man who created two-face's hair and head. Oh, that would be you.[/glow]

Designed and designed...I made a quick sketch and found some pictures of Two-face which i gave to our sculptur Dan Serber, who then made this. It's Supersculpee modelled in 400%, which afterwards is 3d-scanned and redrawn in the computer by our engineers

Thanks for sharing that. I'm curious how the mold will be able to be reused in another fig, or even if it will be.

I'm curious how the mold will be able to be reused in another fig, or even if it will be. Oh, come now. One need only look at your avatar to see that the Exo-Force line is all about asymmetrical, crazy-hair. Surely, the good guys in that line could use another nutty hair-do. Besides, if LEGO ever acquires a "Back to the Future" license, they won't need a new mold for Doc Brown's hair.

Bonven,
Do you know if the instructions to the alternate models will be posted anywhere, such as the official Batman LEGO site?

Mr. Freezes body is all blue with no prints on it (and black hands) it is covered by a big black chestpiece, so you wouldn't be able to see that much print.
Sorry, no building instructions for the alternative models, there wasn't time. But it is something that we do more of (Exoforce). But keep an eye on the Lego club magazine, they sometimes make models with building steps.

Also, will we be seeing any of the smaller Batman sets, same size as Darth Vader's Transformation or the Exo Force Sentry or Uplink sets? Have the alternate instructions been created, though. If so, and if permission could be granted by TLC, posting a set here would.......INCREDIBLE!
