I saw the movie last night (tonight I'm going to my local IMAX). I still can't believe what I saw... I won't give anything away. This movie is an AMAZING PIECE OF WORK. Congratulations to all the people who made it possible.

Being the big Burton 89 fan that I am, I am secure in saying this was the best Batman film to date. Unbelieveable.

My wife and I saw the midnight showing of The Dark Knight last night. I bought our tickets in the afternoon and I'm glad we did because they were showing the movie on at least three screens and were sold out. Needless to say when we arrived about 30 minutes before showtime there was a massive crowd gathered. I've never seen that theatre so busy.
Terminator Salvation peview was cool but the best treat for me was the Watchmen preview. I have seen Batman and Robin but don't recall the Smashing Pumpkins song that people are talking about so I don't have any negative feelings towards it. I thought the song was a nice touch to the preview. The preview itself totally blew away all expectations I had for the film. I've been saying all along it will be a sleeper hit in 09 but I think it really has big potential.
Now on to The Dark Knight.. It's over 2 hours and 30 minutes but never felt long at all. Hats off to everyone involved in the film. They have taken the greatness of Batman Begins and built upon it wonderfully. Yes I enjoyed Jack Nicholson as the Joker in 89's Batman and Mark Hamil as the Joker in BTAS but I also enjoy Heath Ledger's Joker, which perfectly represents the Joker in this world that Chris Nolan makes. That's what is so cool about comic book characters. Depending on the story and creative artists involved you can get several different versions of a character. Eckhart as Harvey Dent is a great cast also. He really nails Harvey Dent, a DA who has the drive and courage to stand up against evil. You wil believe in Harvey Dent. The story flows and the pace is nice. Great character development. Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard did another great job on the score. There are even themes, if you will, for both Joker and Batman. In fact when Joker's music is playing you're on the edge of the seat in anticipation of what he's up to. Maggie Gyllenhaal was a great Rachel Dawes. She made me beleive she is Rachel and I forgot all about Katie Holmes. Freeman, Caine and Oldman delivered outstanding performances also. And Bale as Batman? He's the Dark Knight.
I was greatly impressed and I think this will be considered one of the greatest comic genre films ever.

Oh my F%$#@!@ gosh!!! I loved the film too! I believe that this IS the best Batman movie of all time and no other movie will defeat it!! Except MAYBE a future Nolan film. But only one of his films. I was glad Scarecrow wasn't in it for very long. I loved Heath Ledger's Joker!!!! (I DIED LAUGHING AT THE PENCIL TRICK TOO!!) The Joker is my favorite villain and he was beyond words. Just remember back when we got the first pic of Heat as the Joker, we hated it and were scared and skeptical! Two-Face was excellent! The only thing is The Joker overthrew him! I didn't even notice it was two and a half hours! It was the fastest two hours of my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was never skeptical about this film, I knew it would live up to the hype! I loved the scene where the Bat-Pod came out of the Batmobile! It was sweet, I thought it was going to eject him as in send him flying in the air!
By the way, it makes you proud to say your a Batman fan that TDK broke Star Wars III's midnight showing earnings of $16.9 million dollars, TDK made over $20 million! We're now at $164 million total and trying to break Spider-Man 3's record opening weekend earnings. Just think, we all contributed to that! I suggest everyone see this movie, it's a MUST SEE, not just for Bat-Fans but for everyone! Heck even see it two times, I am! This movie is going to propel comic book movies to another level!!
Can anyone help me? I don't get the end! Why do they break the bat-signal and chase after him, it went too fast for me (the end).
My experience was cool too! I pre-ordered the tickets for IMAX two weeks beforehand and got a hotel two blocks from the IMAX so I wouldn't have to worry about parking or traffic. We had to go to the IMAX three hours early in order to get in line first so we could get good seats! Oh my gosh it was so fun meeting fellow fans and talking excitedly about how we've been waiting forever! Someone even brought their guitar and we played and sang music! Then we went into the theatre 45 minutes early and I was so jittery and excited, then it happened. It was the best night of my life, I will never forget it!!!!!!!!!!!

OMFG! This movie was beyond excellent! It was incredible! Heath's Joker is definitive. He is so getting an Oscar for this, but it's such a shame that he can never do it again. R.I.P. Heath.
Even if you're not a Batfan, people need to see this movie. It's a masterpiece, and no matter what Marvel puts out, they can't top The Dark Knight.

Man, I couldn't believe how good this movie was! Anyone who's familiar with my posts knows how much I disliked BB and how little I was looking fwd to this. I was VERY pleasantly surprised! Heath Ledger's Joker worked better then I ever thought it would! I really don't think you can compare him to Jack Nicholson's because they're in two different eras and the character had two completely different interpretations. Having said that, for this particular version of the Joker, the extremely dark, malevolent evil version, No one could ever pull off a performance like that(sorry for the long, run-on sentence)!
This version had layers that, as far as I know have never been demonstrated in the Joker before. I almost felt sorry for him when he was talking about what a jerk his father was. I wasn't crazy about the way his hair and makeup looked from the previews, but it fits the tone of the movie perfectly! if I wouldn't have known Cris Nolan directed it, I would've guessed it was directed by Michel Mann. It reminded me so much of Heat and Collateral. I can't wait for the 3rd one!

I almost felt sorry for him when he was talking about what a jerk his father was. Actually, this was something that I loved. Joker probably has 500 different stories of how he got his scars. It reminded me of how the comic has not given him a definite origin and that the Joker prefers a multiple choice history. Me and my friend asked each other back and forth how we got those scars on our faces. It is a fun little game.

It hasn't made $164 million yet, at least not in the US which is where the $151 million Spider-Man 3 record resides. But I think with the big midnight earnings from The Dark Knight it definately has a shot at breaking Spidey's record.

This is a brief review I did for our Batmanmovieonline forum.
Just thought Id share it:
This by far exceeded what I was expecting. It lived up to the hype as far as I was concerned. I went in knowing nothing past what I saw in the teasers and trailers. I wanted to be completely suprised by what I saw, I wanted to experience it as I was watching it without sitting there just waiting for the next scene that I already knew was coming. That was my problem with Begins, I knew everything before it happened and was waiting for a moment that would suprise me and it never came. That sure as hell never happened with TDK. I had the best reactions to this film, something I havent had since 1989.
I expected this forum to be the most critical on TDK because of our love for the Burton films. I am so past that myself. This movie is "of its time", just as 89 was. There were so many bits taken from the comics from the last 70 years and made to fit into this story that Nolan gave us. It was great.
Bruce/Batman...Bale brought a bit more obnoxiousness to the "public" Bruce this time around, imo, which really worked for the characterization they were presenting in this film series. The "private" Bruce was also more developed in his relationship with Alfred and also as this man with a mission. Batman was more vicious and aggressive this time around. He shows up, does what he has to do, and goes. His relatinship with Gordon was the best incarnation that has been brought to the screen. Bales Batman voice still leaves something to be desired for me, but this is the only flaw that I have.
Alfred....He's become so much more than just the concerned butler. He has become a partner, a friend, a voice of reason.
Gordon....Still the righteous cop wanting to clean up the city he lives in the best way he can with the resources he has available to him. He has accepted Batman as an ally ,and without giving any spoilers, this also is strengthened along with a greater trust by something that happens in the film. Defintely the best on screen Gordon we've ever seen.
Joker.....Wow. This aint Jack and it sure as hell isnt 'ol Ceaser Romero. We're introduced to a more maniacle, murderous Joker than what we've seen before. Ledger gave us a performance that deserves praise. He made me laugh when I knew I shouldnt have, he made me jump when I was suppose to. This was defintely a more modern take on the Joker character.
Harvey...I was really suprised by what Echart did with this. I would put it on par with what Ledger did with Joker. He nailed the crusading D.A. to a T and also showed us, even subtly, a hidden darker side that existed within him.
Overall, I thought the story was excellent. The characterizations were excellent. Batman 89 may still be my favorite, but for me, TDK is the best Batman film to date

Saw it last Sunday night. Thought it was really very good. Not a "perfect movie" or the greatest movie ever, but pretty great. I think it was ultimately a better movie than Begins, maybe not Nec. a better Batman movie? Easily one of the best comic book / super hero movies to date IMO. Probably within the top five. I need and want to see it again asap.

Not only did TDK live up to my high expectations, it exceedingly surpassed them. This is withought a doubt the best Batman film ever made, & that possibly WILL ever be made. Heath was incredibly funny in a sick & disturbing way, he aso did something even Mark Hammil never managed to do. He made me hate the Joker, not in a bad Jack Nicholson sortof way, he embodied the character & truly was the clown prince of crime, for once in my life i actually wanted Batman to kill him.
