As a 22 year collector I was wondering what the M.O. is for fellow collectors out there. I remember when I first started there was nothing if anything out to get and the few Batman items one could find in elementry school were true treasures; then Batman came out in 1989... At my peak I was amassing anything and everything. Promotional displays, action figures, branded food, school supplies and even the odd statue. As the products increased and the quality decreased by the time Batman and Robin hit I stepped back quite a bit. As I got older I sold off anything that became "junky clutter" in my mind. I still find that one can easily get "buried by the bat" as I have 600 sq. ft of display space in my batcave that can easily become overrun. I now tend to stick to collecting higher end merchandise like statues, prop replicas and occasionally dabble figures akin to Movie Masters (if they ever show up in Canada ). As I typically always have I steer away from the "Adam West" Batman era as it is just not my cup of tea. Late 70's to 1988 Batman is my favorite. Love the Nolan stuff for the most part. Hopefully we can all share our perspectives and perhaps some pictures.... ...and if you ask really nice I still have some amazing promotional materials in the rafters of my garage looking for someone to love them....

A great thread.
I was much the same in my prime, collecting any and everything Batman. If it had a batsymbol..it was mine! lol.
Unfortunately, my financial situation does not provide for this, so its not the case anymore. Nowadays I tend to focus in on certain things.
-Food premiums. I really love fast food toys, cereal, fruit snacks, that kind of thing.
-Batman Beyond. I have a special affection for this show, so anything related to Beyond I'm into.
-Animated Batman - I tend to gravitate more towards animated Batman items.
-Thrift stores/garage sales - I watch for nice, cheap deals on bat-gear when I'm out junking with my wife.
-Keychains - for some reason I love keychains
-Coloring books
Would love to see some pics of your batcave cdncapedcrusader

i collect all comic related Batman figs and alot of Timmverse figs as well, but mostly comic figs and mostly DC Direct, as i feel Mattel does a half fast job with their figs and the sculpts are usually wrong, mostly due to them not being based on specific artwork, but how they see the characters. DC Direct has really spoiled me with figures. i love the artist specific figs.
