I just read the Killing Joke and I have to say that novel was so sick. In a good way of course. My question is that what do you think happened at the end of the novel?
The ending is pretty ambiguous. I like to think when Batsy placed his hand on Jokers shoulder; he snuck him right in the face. lol, but that's just me.

LOL You know what? I once wrote a topic on exactly this! And I asked the same exact question. But I love this One-Shot! I'm looking to get the special hardcover edition of it! But still to this day I do not get the end! But I'm pretty sure he didn't sock the Joker in the face!LOL But I suspect he took him to Arkham!

Well i have the delux edition and guess what they have a back part explaining the story and what not. In the begining it states something of how he can only use 800 words or he will have to start cutting out pages of art. At the ever end it starts to say how it ends, "Speaking of which, its time to revealed what really happened at the end of THE KILLING JOKE: as our protagonists stood there in the rain laughing at the final joke, the police lights reflecting in the pools of filthy water underfoot, the Batman's hand reached out and......" it cuts off there (really pissing me off) But of course the ending will probably never be revealed, i love how it ends in the story though, brillant story

yea who would have thought of all the corny jokes joker throws out there that he scored a laugh with the light beam joke. it also shows how committed batman and Gordan are to going by the book. any other cop would have tried to kill the joker after doing that to their daughter

I have to say I do LOVE this comic it's really great and everything. It's a fantastic Joker comic really one for hte books. I mean it's just real great.
Though I would have to say, it is definately not TTHHEE greatest thing in the world. And I know everyone is probably looking at me like I'm retarded or I just don't "get it". But I got it just as much as I get that hte sky is blue and hte rain falls down. I understand the cyclical idea of "evil" vs. "good" and how it's really a fantastic story (more so for probably the Batman and Joker relationship) because for a moment during the end of the one-shot, Batman and Joker are SHARING A LAUUGGHH!! That is incredibly...well...incredible! Two forces completely opposing one another are sharing this moment of intmacy. And hte endding, of course Batman drags his behind back to Arkham, but in that moment of silence it's almost, as if the world does not exist anymore for hte both of them. Like nothing matters, that they UNDERSTAND eachother if only for that second.
But of course it has it's flaws, starting with that "canon" Joker past. That just, really, doesn't float my boat at allll! I don't like the fact that afterwards people considered that to be his TRUE past when in fact I visualize it as more of that "one way it could've happened" bit. Not to mention it kind of felt a little rushed to me, but that probably because they did only have 800 words to do this. I mean, Gordon got over hte fact that his daughter got paralyzed pretty quick. I mean if I was him, I would be on Joker like white on his skin! Not to mention Batman's also abrupt forgetfulness on Barbara when he shares a laugh with the Joker.
Not that I'm saying it isn't good because I do LOVE it and APPRECIATE IT and would hug it to bits if I could. I just think too many people put it on too high of a pedestal.

This thread proves that The Killing Joke is an all time classic comic book because even after all these years people are discovering it and are finding out what a great piece of story writing and artistry the book is.
You gotta love Batman

Personally I prefer the Jokers past in Lovers & Madmen when he is shown as already being a psychopath. Although I really enjoyed the killing joke overall, despite the flaws mentioned.

Kilowog, how can you not like it? ? Its great, if not for the Killing Joke I would have ended up never reading comics. I personally love it, without being rude but maybe alot of people dont understand it because it was written by an Englishman, Alan Moore can be a little odd at times. the lightbeam joke is pure genius and fits in very well with the storyline. I think it is on par with The Dark Knight Returns and a Death in the Family.
