Mine would have to be one specific Christmas morning where my dad and I played for hours while trying to set up my Mego Planet of the Apes treehouse. I've still got parts floating around my parents basement so thats gotta say something! What about you, what is your most cherished memory?

I have many toy related memories from my childhood. Whether it was getting the SWAT tV show toys for Christmas. Or going to Richard's Hobby Town with my Dad and getting a new Corgi Batmoblie almost every month. Or when my dad would take us (my friend and me) with him to Hi -Way Hobby on rt 17 and he'd buy us each another box of Airfix 1:32 Army men. I have lots of great memories. But I think most consist of playing in my backyard.
My backyard was 250 yards long with a raised driveway that wrapped around the house. The Driveway was 4 feet higher than my backyard. And just beyond the in the right hand corner of the driveway was a fish pond/fountain and a large tree. So I spent many a day in the right hand corner of the driveways rock wall. Because it was a great area for Megos, GI Joes & little plastic Army men.
It was a great little world...Mego Super Heroes would be saving the world from PotA... Star Trek would beam down to the PotA...or just PotA.
Action Jackson/SWAT and GI Joe would be crossing the jungle and lake in search of treasure. Or trying to make their was to the "bad guys" mountain fort.
For army men the rock wall was filled with "caves" Or the Calvery or Marines had to make it through the canyon without getting ambushed by the hostiles waiting in the mountain rocks.
I have many fond memories of playing in that corner whether it was with my friends or by myself. Because the yard was so big I spent lots of time in the backyard, playing wiffle ball with my father and friends. Or playing army with my friends in the woods that surrounded the backyard. I guess if I had to pick one "Christmas" memory it'd be the year I got the LJN SWAT Van loaded with the SWAT team (in back) & the Rookies (driving) along accessory from the TV shows. PJ

It would have to be the hours I spent playing with my Mego figures. They went everywhere with me - I had a little suitcase that I used to carry them around in. I could count on getting at least 1 Mego on holidays and birthdays every year. The other would be my Reideen Shogun Warrior fighting with my Godzilla Shogun. There hasn't really been anything made like them ever since.

Yep, these are all great memories and I really enjoy hearing about them. I guess in a way it draws us a bit closer together since we are sharing some of our most cherished memories with each other. By the way PJ, I loved those little plastic green army men. My brother and I would set them up for what seems like hours only to knock them down with a tennis ball. Oh, the pains of war! ;D

Oh, the pains of war! ;D My dirveway was filled with little blue stone chips (maybe 1" long)...and that's what we would use for our ammo. ;D Needless to say my dad was never happy when he was running the lawnmower as his shins would get dinged up by stones the mower would kick up. ;D PJ

I used to collect the little 1:72 Airfix soldiers,i had thousands of them and used to have epic battles in this massive Sandpit i had in my back yard.I spent hours setting up for these wars and the one thing i clearly remembered is you always killed the boring soldiers first. You know the ones i mean they were marching or doing something equally dull rather than in some action fighting pose. I was like Reid too,i had a little suitcase with larger figures in it.I remember i had Megos, some Cowboys like Jesse James and Bill Cody,Pirates, not Mego i can't remember who made them. There was Lone Ranger,Tonto and Butch Cavendish,GI Joes,Action Jackson,Knights,Big Jim and his friends and i remember having a Muhammed Ali in there too. That suitcase went everywhere and i created some interesting fights using all these different characters.

I was like Reid too,i had a little suitcase with larger figures in it. Yay! I thought I was the only one that was like that when I was a kid! ;D Those were probably all from the Gabriel/Hubley/Marx line of action figures released in 1973? (I'm guessing those are what you had, since we're similar ages. ;D) I had a Lone Ranger myself - it was a very nice figure and I still had his guns (all that remained of the figure sadly) up until I sold all of my Mego related items about 9 years ago. Muhammed Ali was probably this one from Mego? (pic thanks to John Bonivita.)

Yeah that looks like the one Jeff,he came with a punching bag and a handle thing that you put on his back and he would swing his arms. As for the brands of the others i don't know but they were very cool.I also remember now i had boy characters from the Lone Ranger line. There was a young Cowboy and Indian, don't even think to ask me what their names were.If i remember rightly they were related to both the Lone Ranger and Tonto.
Most of these figures ended up customised at High School for a huge Gladiator Arena Diorama that i made.I never took them home again unfortunately.

The Marines had that cool raft in the box. I always wished the 1:32 box would have it. My favorate 1:32 scale set was the 7th Calvery. I loved those figures. Some stores still have the 1:72 sets, but none ever have the good 1:32 scale. PJ

And the 7th Cavalry set was cool too,i had that one.I didn't get too many 1:32 sets though i always preferred the smaller ones because you got more soldiers for less money.Plus they had really cool Forts and Castles etc you could buy to use with them.

Mine's deffinetely when I got my very first action figure - Manta Ray Batman back in 1996. It was one of the happiest days of my life! Another good moment was when I spent my first big money savings to buy my very first original Batman Vehicle - Jet Blade from Batman & Robin. The 3rd happiest moment was when some friends of my parents brought me from Germany 4 Batman TAS McDonalds Toys and the BatTAS Hydro Bat. These toys never came out in Bulgaria.

My birthday where my mom surprised me with all the Bionic Man "dolls". Buying some Flash Gordon figures for a friends b-day and then convincing my mom to let ME keep them instead lol Buying the original Optimus Prime after earning enough money pulling weeds for my Uncle. Playing with my Corgi Batmobile and 007 cars on the back porch. Me and my brother's toys waging war on, and destroying my sister's doll house(s). Brother and I hiding in the bushes and throwing toys out into / under oncoming traffic lol. My dog eating my entire collector case full of original Star Wars figures after leaving it outside overnight. And yet another later dog chewing up a bunch of Marvel Secret Wars and misc. figs. Performing surgery on my G.I. Joes. Brother and I building massive battle scenes everywhere and anywhere with all our Star Wars toys. Lego car demolition derby's! Going back to the same store to buy the same Batman figure like four dif times. I still have no idea what the figure was but adored it.

Receving Serpentor and his flying chariot for Christmas, along with the ARCTIC Cat vehicle from the G.I.Joe line. Building forts and bases in my backyard for all of my Joes... Having quite a few He-man figures, and getting the playset I had wanted ever since I started playing with the line....Castle Grayskull. Of course a week later my brother broke it.... Begging and pleading with my mother for the G.I.Joe U.S.S. Flagg playset in the store. Of course I never got it, but at least I remember it being on the store shelves. Man, was that thing huge! The first Super Powers figure I ever got was Batman, on my 6th birthday, which planted the seed for my obsession. ;D Having the Playdoh Super Powers set, and making Playdoh molds of Batman & the Batmobile on my front porch.

[shadow=green,left,300] Wow, I remember seeing Batman & Robin in theaters along with Forever with my Aunt, my parent's bought me bubblegum heads of Twoface and Riddler and the awesome sound activated Batmobile. I had a lot of BTAS figures and loved playing with them, my cousins had them too so we all would just roll around the batmobile and shoot toy weapons at each other. I saw the movie again today, it always makes me laugh, it is a good movie it is kind of silly but I will say I love Begins the best. I also remember having some Spider-Man and Wolverine figures, I have no idea where they came from but they were pretty nice, I would always take Wolfy and my bro took Spidey. Power Rangers stuff, and so much more, I miss it. If I have kids I know I will be getting lots of that. [/shadow]

I'm probably one of the oldest LOG members, so my toy memories go back to the 1960s. I remember having Johnny West and a horse (can't remember the name), GI Joes, a big Godzilla toy that rolled around and made sounds, and of course lots of Batman stuff - I specifically remember a Batman-Parachute toy that got stuck in a tree several times, and of course masks, gliders and other gadgets. I have no idea what happened to all of that stuff; I don't think I destroyed it, but at some point (probably around 13 or 14) I just stopped paying attention and was only interested in music and playing sports, pretty much all through high school. I regained my interest later, in my late twenties, when I started reading the comics again. My mom probably sold it off at a garage sale sometime in the 70s. I often browse through EBay and see stuff and say " I know I had this! $100.00? Are you kidding me?"

Another great memory... When I was little and I had 2 action figs only and a TAS Batmobile bottle from McDonalds I spent days trying to figure out how to fit the Manta Ray Batman in it. I also loved the Kenner Batman Forever Micro Playsets (I have the Batcave and Claw Island). I always had the same story when playing with them . My favourite part was when I was "flying" the Batwing and I was humming the Danny Elfman Batman theme. I was also very happy when my Grandma got me the Batman Begins "Battle Gear Batman" figure. It was the first Batman with an original suit I got. And still is the only one if I don't count the McDonalds BatTas one. But a bad memory is how I spent 2 years begging my parents for a Begins Batmobile (The only action-figure fitting Batmobile I have is a bootleg Knight Striker) and they stil refuse me. WHY? Non-Batman toy memories: When I got my first Power Rangers toy - Deluxe Ninja Megazord. It still is my only original Deluxe.
