Dick Grayson will be getting his own TV show on the CW pretty soon! The show is to take place before Dick becomes Robin, kind of like a Robin version of Smallville! For more info: www.newsarama.com/tv/100801-GraysonsonCW.htmlCan't wait till it comes out! Sounds awesome! Can't wait to hear more!

Thanks!!! I posted this and saw you had posted it an hour earlier. This is real exciting news...not sure how I feel about him being called "Dj" but regardless, it is a step forward in bringing a live action Bats...to the TV realm.

[shadow=red,left,300]I am truthfully, very disappointed! I was hoping that it would be a Nightwing TV Series! Not a a pre-Robin! I have reached the point were I can not stand Smallville! And what do they do? They create a Robin series!I would rather have that Aquaman or Birds of Prey back over this! [/shadow]

I would rather have that Aquaman or Birds of Prey back over this! Be still your tongue! lol. I'd rather have nothing than the above two. I don't know yet about this one. I wasn't crazy about Smallville at first and now I dig it, so who knows. LOG will most definately be covering this one, though, so stay tuned.

I'm torn between "yay! more Batman stuff" and "this is gonna be complete crap". Why does the wb/cw feel the need to take our favorite superheroes and make them into whiny b!+@#s ? "I WANNA BE WITH LANA!!!!!!! BUT I CANT BE WITH LANA!!!!!!! BUT I WANNA BE WITH LANA!!!!!! WHY WHY WHY!!!!!!!!!!" Cause this show would just boil down to a teenage soap opera faster than smallville did. And unless they tap into the gypsy background of the circus and Grayson family, I cant just think of anything to make a story of. But since its Batman related I'm gonna feel sum what obligated to watch it. And Man!!!! If this show makes it Im gonna have to get teen titans on dvd.

Willing to give it a chance naturally, but gonna be a hard sell for me.
I cant see how this could work or at least not without it being something so completely different and unlike the source material theres no reason for it to be connected in the first place. !st of all, how interesting could Dicks life prior to becoming Robin be? How old could he be (they would have to alter him to be late teens). What interesting and or familiar DC characters would/could (comfortably) interact with a pre-Robin Dick Grayson? What "adventures" would/could a pre-Robin Dick Grayson believably get into? (he'd be traveling the world with the circus... sneaking out at night solving peoples problems or fighting crime?).
I think a show about Dicks early days as Nightwing would offer sooo much more and work sooo much better as a whole. Just imagine.
I still say go back to the original and best idea all around(the inspiration for Smallville and BoP in the first place) and do the Young BRUCE WAYNE CHRONICLES!

Whoa! This was unexpected!! I can't say much about Smallville, since I've only seen the first three seasons, but I'm just gonna have to watch this! I think it's not going to be something spectacular, but enjoyable and would perhaps live longer than Birds of Prey. I'll be covering this too, over at "Realm of the Bat".

I think it will be great, I just can't imagine what they will have Dick doing! He's not abnormal like Superman or anything, so I just want to see what they do with it!

How long do they expect this show to last? I mean, Smallville was good at first, but what's the point if they're never going to make him Superman? My point is, this show will go downhill if it lasts about 3 seasons before we actually see his parents die. And how old is Dick supposed to be in this show? Something tells me if this show lasts too long, he'll never become Robin. Besides, Dick doesn't have a complex history like Clark or Bruce. He was just a circus acrobat kid with his family and they were killed, so Batman takes him in. I would rather have a show showing Bruce Wayne's travels around the world before he became Batman. Now that would be interesting. Also, "DJ"?

Sounds cool too bad I dont get CW. Sounds like it could take place around the Batman Begins and Dark Knight timeline

Maybe this is a tricky way of both getting a season four of Carnival AND setting up a Batman TV series? Okay, probably not. I'm probably not going to be interested in an angst ridden Dick going through puberty trying to work up the courage to hit on the dog girl while secretly solving mysteries using his gymnastic skills and keen rapidly forming detective mind.

I wonder if in this show Dick, or DJ will ever run into Bruce (Wayne)?

[shadow=red,left,300]All depends if the producers can get the rights to Batman. Smallville couldn't, so I don't think they will be getting the rights ether!
And personally who ever has the rights to Batman, should guard them with there lives![/shadow]

I hope they can get the rights to Batman (well technically it wouldn't be Batman, just Bruce Wayne), but even so.

I think it'll be good if he meets him, or if they mention Bruce from time to time. To me the show could go a few seasons the way they plan it, but it is going to get repettative. They need to make the later seasons (If it even gets later seasons) something like Batman Begins, but with Robin. His point of view, him going alone from time to time and the hard time living in Batman's shadow.

Agree with jacktheskull the rights are worth the whole world! plus if batman was to arrive in a spin off series (as i see it) it would ruin the entire idea of Batman. Robin was an ok addition to begin with but for me he was only ever there to make Batman look better. I can't imagine what would happen in a Robin TV Series... Who would tell him what to do and the true person behind a crime!? It's simply RIDICULOUS!!! >:-(
Whoever came up with the idea of Robin "Boy Wonder" owning a team himself deserves a jolly good slapping. GRRR
That's what I think anyway and I'm sure many TRUE Batman Fans will agree!
Thanks for agreeing with me those real BATS out there!
Yours Truly ILOVEBATMAN <3 XxxxX <3 ;-)

Thanks for agreeing with me those real BATS out there! Yours Truly ILOVEBATMAN <3 XxxxX <3 ;-) Care to elaborate on that? I believe we are all true Batman fans regardless on our view of Robin. Being a fan of Robin should not detract from being a fan of Batman. Original intentions for characters are rarely prevalent throughout. Just look at the original Batman and compare him to today's. I hold the view I hold on all projects like this, I'll judge it when I see it. Until then, I have no real opinion. My first impression is that they are going in the wrong direction. DJ? That is a red flag to me. I look forward to finding out either way. Robin becoming Nightwing would have been a more exciting show to me, but there is nothing I can do about it.

I think its a good idea but they will need a really young actor. it would be a better idea to make one between robin and nightwing, because that way the actor could grow up and nothing would happen.

Well if it's between Robin and Nightwing, then that defeats the whole purpose. Because then he is already a hero, and we already know how he becomes nightwing and what happens when he is Robin. It would just be a Robin show, no Pizzazz. We need to see what went on before he ever became a hero and he had the tragedy of his parents getting "killed". That we don't know anything about.
