The LA TIMES has an interview up with Christopher Nolan about the possible 3rd Bat-film and the Joker....

"GB: I winced when I read a lot of the political messaging that people said they detected in your film. I think a lot of that says more about my industry than it does yours."
Political messaging? I didn't really get any political vibes form the movie, I mean, I would love ot read some more into this, anyone got any article about hte politics behind this movie?
"NOLAN: If the story is there, everything is possible. I hope that was a suitably slippery answer"
That's good enough for me Nolan - that's good enough for me xD

There isn't really a question about whether they'll make Batman 3. TDK made too much money. Its just a matter of the story and when.

Nolan just has to do Batman 3, or else we may get another Schumacher. With Nolan at the helm, a third movie in this series will surely top The Dark Knight, even if it seems impossible.

[shadow=red,left,300]^ I agree with All-Star Batman!
Nolan has to be the guy in the director chair! He knows what he is doing! I like the fact that he only concentrates his efforts on one movie at a time. [/shadow]

The Dark Knight sort of set it up for Batman to retire. So maybe this is the last one. But there always is the threat of a supervillain attack. It would probably be called 'The Dark Knight Returns'. The Dark Knight was good, but I didn't get that 'that was a really good movie' feeling i've gotten from lots of other movies. Probably becaue I had heard how good it was so I expected it to be unrealistically good. One thing I didn't like about Batman Begins is that Talia wan't in it. Wouldn't it be great if the Demon's Head returned with his daughter?!!

TDK is still the character evolving.
The Batcave we all know and love hasn't even been built yet. A traditional appearing Batmobile has yet to debut, heavily hinted at though with Wayne taking care of business with his sports car in TDK. The Batman does not remain hunted, his name will be cleared. The Batsignal will return to Gotham.
I even suspect, that the costume may become even more like the comic.
In TDK that process had already begun, it needed to be more flexible, and lighter, and they did that.
Well, I would say it is possible for some tasks, Batman would want something like in the comics, something that is not armoured.
I still consider TDK... Batman Begins in a way.
He is still not quite at the apex where the comics have him. Not just yet.
By the ending of the next one, It should bring all the elements together, and The Batman will be triumphant. That is the way I see it.

Bruce may feel that his transportation should be fast and sleek just like his new suit is, but still durable in tense situations.

I hope they do batman 3 but they recast batman... i know that probably wont happen but come on, in TDK he over did the voice to the point that it was just annoying. He barley had any lines. And whats up with these's new batmans and him not using any of his gadgets? Has he hasn't used a batarang or smoke pellets or anything, not like in the ones Tim Burton directed.

its true the utility belt needs an upgrade. but I agree wit cessnadriver in that he's still developing. with the events in tdk he's learnt more about how to go about he's two personalities. but yea the movies need to pick up on batmans gadgets and the voice could use a little twick. but as far as tdk goes nolans got the movies on track and god willing will continue to stay wit the franchise.

I'll admit that the next one should show more of Batman using his gadgets and more of his detective side, but I have no problem with Bale's Bat-voice. And how dare you suggest they recast him. He's the best on-screen Batman we've ever had.

Yeah, he has been the best playboy/batman yet. But there are alot of other people who could be a better batman.

He's the best on-screen Batman we've ever had. Everyones entitled to an opinion and he has every right to suggest something he thinks needs changed. I wouldnt want to see Bale recast, simply because I hate it when they change up actors in a franchise. Especially the main character.

i still think Micheal Keaton was the best batman. but bale did the Bruce/batman combo the best so far but as long as bale wonts to reprice hes role i couldn't be happier. the only thing was between begins and tdk he made the voice much more horse in this new installment. but yes bale does a great job as batman,no question. that and i hope they can find someone able to play the joke half as well as ledger for another appearance in later films.

I walked out of TDK almost not wanting a third part. Thinking about it however I do want to see Batman returned to hero status to tie the series up, but only with Nolan. Otherwise start with a new director and direction.

Nolan has to direct the 3rd instalment. When franchises start going with diffrent directors and lead charaters it kill's the story.
Burton/Keaton Batman anyone? Could have been good and then Batman Forever & Batman & Robin. Killed those line of films.
Not to mention Nolan & Bale understand the Batman charater to a tee.

If they didn't make Batman 3, that would be a real slap to the face for the viewers. C'mon guys, it's a cliffhanger! I would wait about a year until I get worked-up about Batman 3. With a movie like 'The Dark Knight,' you know you can't get much better, and we'll probably end up being dissappointed anyways. On the re-cast matter, I say absolutely not. Christopher Nolan has worked hard to build up a near-flawless continuity (cough, cough Rachel Dawes). I'm concerned about the Joker, too, although archived footage may be of some reassurance.
No re-cast, however, shall top that of Joel Schumacher and his Michael Jackson-eque transformation of Harvey Dent.

Yeah, he has been the best playboy/batman yet. But there are alot of other people who could be a better batman. He may not have had the best Batman voice, which I'll admit it was overdone, but Bale is definitely the best Bruce Wayne and has the best Bruce Wayne/Batman complex that has been done in any of the movies.

I do want to see Batman returned to hero status to tie the series up, but only with Nolan. Otherwise start with a new director and direction. Thank you! *Bow* That is word for word what I feel! I mean they just left it with everyone thinking Batman was the bad guy! They can't do that and then stop and leave it like that forever!! I mean come on!!! Come out with a Batman 3. I agree with Matt, they can't not come out with a Batman 3 with the success of TDK! There's too big of a chance of getting close to, and equal amount, or more than TDK. And I agree with the people that say ONLY Nolan can and should do it!! We can't just switch directors in the middle of a franchise, I mean just take a look at the older franchise! And the person that said to take away Bale for the third Batman, should take a second look. He is a GREAT Batman! I have no problem with his voice, I actually really like it. That's what I would imagine Batman's voice to be (besides Kevin Conroy), I mean it furthers Batman from Bruce Wayne cause the two voices are so different. Not to mention Batman is supposed to be dark and brooding and scary, he's supposed to scare the criminal underworld, and that voice is very dark and scary, let me tell you, if some guy dressed up as a bat came up and attacked me in the dark, hung me upside down, whatever, and then started yelling at me in that voice, it would scare the living crap out of me!!!! LOG is the REAL Batman Homepage!
