Lets talk about the Batman: Brave and the Bold comic book from Johnny DC.
Discuss the upcoming issues, what you hope to see, etc.
To start it off, I have a few scoops!
Firstly, the solicited cover to issue #1 is not, in fact, the actual cover..but just some promo artwork that James Tucker did for the show.
Also, the comic WILL feature characters that aren't on the show yet!!! They don't have to wait like Batman Strikes did! So, this should be interesting!

Here's a look at the cover of Batman: The Brave and the Bold #1 (featuring Batman & Power Girl) from the Johnny DC line, coming to stores next week. However, this pic must be an early version of the cover. If you flip open any of the Johnny DC Comics in stores this week, they show a small pic of the same cover, but with 5 additional heroes... Power Girl Mr. Miracle Superman Bronze Tiger Captain Marvel

I know who all of those characters are except for the guy directly beside Bat-Mite. I look forward to one day seeing their version of Superman and Captain Marvel.

I know who all of those characters are except for the guy directly beside Bat-Mite. That would be Jack Kirby's version of the original OMAC (One Man Army Corps).

Interesting. I've only ever seen the modern OMAC's. I didn't even know there was an old school version. That is something I like about B:TB&TB, I'm always finding new characters that I'd never heard of.

Is that supposed to be Huntress or Batwoman above Blue Beetle. I hope its Batwoman. I'd really love to see her show up.
This cover looks really cool. I might just have to pick this up.

Cool! i am really enjoying this new series. Manly because I love a laugh! Luckily this series delivers! Are the comics supposed to be just as funny as the show? Not sure how funny the series will be, but the first four issues that have been solicited is written by animation show writer, Matt Wayne, who also pens this friday's "Journey to the Center of the Bat" episode.

I've read the first issue of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, "The Panic of the Composite Creature", as written by Matt Wayne. Fun, little old school good guys vs. bad guy story also with a 2-page teaser featuring Batman & Aquaman vs. Carapax (First Appeared in Blue Beetle vol. 2 #1-1986). The main story teams up Batman with Power Girl as they fight to take down a Composite Creature in the streets of London, as part of a devious plan put together by Luthor!
Much like the Superman comics of yesteryear, Lex Luthor is only referred as "Luthor" and is patterned after the power-mad, evil scientist (complete with labcoat) that he was back then.
The issue includes a page of Bat Secret-Files, brief paragraphs explaining Luthor's & Power Girl's backgrounds.
Again, the story was fun, but not earth-shattering or original. It does try to capture the flavor of the show, but maybe a bit pared down due to the limitations of the format. I'm not sure how I feel about Andy Suriano's artwork yet. After seeing the awesome cover by producer James Tucker, you're treated to Andy Suriano's much more exaggerated style. It'll take some getting used to.
