The comic book is obviously better.
...and yes and no are the same as TDK is better than returns and returns is better than TDK.....

You can't really compare the two. TDK is more realistic with a Joker with smile scars and makeup, while TDKR has Batman beating the crap out of the alien Superman.

This is sort of dumb. you DONT compare these. They're completely different. That's like me starting a poll: Which is better? tim Burton's Batman Returns or the Killing Joke?

The killing joke My point was that TDk and TDKR and completely different and cannot be compared, just like BR and the Killing Joke (but killing joke is obviously better)

I dont think it is submitting my vote but anyway I'll just say what I chose, I have actually chosen TDK... *hides* I loved The Dark Knight Returns, and I have done for a long time, but TDK is perfect for me, and I had alot of personal gripes with TDKR that I won't bother describing... But yeah further to the point, it's a very hard choice for alot of reasons, ones a movie and the other is a comic book... But if I had a gun to my head it would be TDK.

TDK had a better story if that's what you mean However besides the plot the two cannot be compared, but Frank Miller is a worse director than Christopher Nolan

There is no basis for comparison between these two except that they have similar titles. TDK is not based off of TDKR, nor does it feature a similar story, nor does it include the same villain, nor does it explore a similar theme. This is the equivalent of asking which is better between the '66 Batman and The Dark Knight Returns. They try to do completely different things. The two can be compared and contrasted with an emphasis on contrast, but a simple opinion of better or worse would be invalid.
