Happy New Year my fellow Batfanatics! Boy 2008 was a great year for us, huh? The Dark Knight was finally released and became the 4th highest grossing movie of all time! Grant Morrison kept us guessing with R.I.P. with the almost death of Batman. And even though The Batman ended it's 5 season run in March, we got The Brave and The Bold now, and it's just as good.
But it all wasn't that well, the Batman community lost many famous people this year. Perhaps the most shocking was Heath Ledger's overdose in January after he finished The Dark Knight, and he was only 28. But he will live on in many fans hearts as the man who gave us the definitive Joker. Also, Neal Hefti, the man who composed the Batman 60s TV show theme, and it's still one of the most famous theme songs to this day. And just last week, Eartha Kitt, the third woman to play Catwoman in the 60s show passed away. R.I.P. to all you greats.
But now we head forward to 2009, which is the 70th Anniversary of Batman! Some great things to look forward to are The Dark Knight's rerelease in theaters January 23, and it will possibly beat Titanic's domestic gross record! Plus in the comics, a new era of Batman will begin, but just who will win the Battle for the Cowl?
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY! ONWARD TO 2009!
