For the most part I am enjoyng the RIP storyline (lil confusing with the order of comics), but I will admit as much as I respect and love Grant Morrison's work, I don't feel as though this is his best work.
I really enjoyed his run with the Son of Demon Saga (or what ever it was called, I can't remember the exact name) that was great.
Quick question though, for the most part the RIP storyline runs in Batman, and the other titles are kind of different storylines that tie in some how? Because I was a little confused when going from Batman to Detective to Robin, it felt like different stories. But I am getting it with Batman.
I just wish that they could keep stories within the title. If they need to help boost sales with Robin or Nightwing or even The Outsiders, they should do something great in those titles. the stuff from the other books are just sub arcs that run off the story in Batman. . Thank You, I was a bit confused thinking I had to get all the other titles and when I did I was a bit confused as they didn't really make sense to what was going on in the Batman title.

i heard that the plan is for Bruce Wayne not to be Batman anymore? If this is true then that is completely stupid. Its not alll about the suit, its the man that wears the suit that makes Batman who he is. it's only supposed to be for a few issues.

Yeah, interest in the character if Batman wasn't Bruce anymore would be very low on the fan side of things,Bats is Bruce not some other guy.

Not a fan of this series at all! really? of Batman? or just of this arc in the title? R.I.P. isnt a miniseries. its just an arc that takes place in the flagship Batman title. if its this arc that your not a fan of, then i agree with you. but if you're not a fan of the title Batman, then you've missed alot of good issues that if you did read them, you'd become a big fan of the series.

I know Batman is meant to be gritty and dark(which is how i prefer Batman) but this current storyline sounds almost depressing. I shall wait for you guys to comment before i buy the TPB in january.

It'll get more interesting near to the climax after Final Crisis, then it will be cliff hangers at the end of every issue.

I'm not a fan of Morrison's Batman run to be honest,he takes way to many liberties with the character, giving Batman a son and all that jazz, too much to soon.

wouldnt it be nice to have stories where Bats just went after the usual supervillains and crooks instead of these earth shattering/does batman live or die/ type stories. keep it simple and exciting and accessible for a wide range of readers. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNGG. He's been going after the badguys for the last 70 years WHY CAN"T HE GO AFTER THE NEW STUFF IN HIS OWN BOOKS?! PEOPLE b**** AND COMPLAIN THAT BAT'S STORIES AREN'T ORIGINAL ANYMORE, BUT HOW MUCH VARIATION CAN ANYONE HAVE IN 70 YEARS BEFORE SOME REPEATS SHOW UP??!?!

thE Batman of Zur-en-Arrh. How many fans know who he is? where in publishing history he comes from??? Grant Morrison is a genius author and I give him NOTHING but praise and glory for this intricate tapestry that intertwines past, present, and future.....

thE Batman of Zur-en-Arrh. How many fans know who he is? where in publishing history he comes from??? Grant Morrison is a genius author and I give him NOTHING but praise and glory for this intricate tapestry that intertwines past, present, and future..... he first appeared in Batman # 113. if you would like a list of all of his appearances and full publishing history i can oblige, just let me know. Morrison screwed up continuity by re-introducing this character. it's not genius what he's doing. all he's done is bring back characters from the fifties and tries as hard as he can to pass them off as anything less than jokes, but it's not working. its a typical Morrison run, it starts off strong, he does something good, and then it goes downhill and ends with him stupidly killing off a character, and then the death has to retconned and it makes his entire run look weak because of it. his run on Batman has been almost identical to his run on X-Men. if he didnt try to change things and make everything how he wanted, and just wrote the characters as they're supposed to be, he'd be a great writer. instead he's a controversial writer who's runs on series' are marred by his insistance on shocking the reader instead of entertaining the reader.

I can't say what Morrison is doing is genius, its no where near the kind of Batman story that it was said to be.
The thing i don't like is that Morrison is making all these change's and its like it took him and him alone to do these things to the character.
I mean he could have told this story and left of the all the stuff that he though might shock the reader and it would have been better.

lol, they can't cash in if you don't buy the tpb.
They are a business in the end. They don't make comics for fun. Its hard to remember that as fans, because we're so concerned with the integrity of the character...but, DC is concerned above all else with sales figures. They have to be, because if they don't do well, we don't get anymore comics.

Could This series then be reclassified as an "Elseworlds"? It would seem better that way than retconning the whole Batman mythos.

Could This series then be reclassified as an "Elseworlds"? It would seem better that way than retconning the whole Batman mythos. once Morrison leaves the title, alot of what occured will probaly be retconned. it happens to Morrison alot. remember when he wrote X-Men and killed Magneto. they turned it into a completely different character that was killed. i can see the same thing happening here.
