As someone who has enjoyed the other DCU movies, I have mixed feelings on All Star Superman.
The book may be well revered but I do not believe its transition to film was done that well. Being the series was 12 issues, they cut out about 4 issues, including Doomsday, Bizarro, and the world without Superman story. What they used was good, but I wish they could have expanded past the usual 70 minutes and incorporated everything. Without doing that, the inclusion of characters like Atlas, Samson, Bar-El, and Lila seemed random to me.
As for the voice acting, Anthony LaPaglia shined as Lex Luthor and Ed Asner was great as Perry White. However, I just don't think James Denton and Christina Hendricks were the right picks for Superman and Lois. I didn't think Denton showed that much emotion and sounded the same throughout the movie. As for Hendricks, her voice was a little too sweet compared to Dana Delaney's and Anne Heche's portrayals.
Overall, I applaud what they tried to do, but the hard transition from comic to film with this story makes it low on my list from the DCU movie line.

I finally bought and watched it tonight. I quite enjoyed it. I would place it easily in the upper half if not in the top few of all the DTV offerings to date. It certainly wasnt flawless and out of them all this one sure isnt for everyone. Its different and rather "weired", but I think that might be why I liked it? The DTVs have all kindve started to look and feel the same to me and this is the first one to "stand out" since the first few.
