Will DC Direct or another company (Mattel) ever produce figures based on the 1966 Batman television series?
I would love to see Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Joker, Riddler, Catwoman and Penguin.
Matt, think you could use your insider pull to drop the idea in someone's head?

That would be freakin' sweet! What about a 12-13 inch Batman figure?

Until the dvd situation is solved, I really dont see us getting figures of this show. Then DC and Fox are gonna have to sit down and decide out of the characters that were created just for the show who owns them. ALthough I can really see DC just writing a blank check cause Im pretty sure theyd love to be able to finally add Egghead, King Tut, and others completly to the Batman mainstream. Then even if that gets figured out, who ever is gonna make them is gonna have to go to all of the estates of the actors on the show and ask if they can use their likenesses. Pretty sure Adam West, Burt Ward, and the Gorshin estate will be easy to get, but it will be the Romero, Meredith, Price, and Buono estates that it might take quite a bit of doe to get. And it would probably end up being DC Direct that makes them cause this show has been out of the (I guess you could call it) "main" spotlight for years and it would be a completely collector driven line. Considering that theyre are just to many hurdles, and its been nearly 30yrs since the show ended - I kinda would be surprised if we got a full line of these.

DrGreenEvil pretty much said it all lamplighter.
There are too many 'rights' issues. The closest thing we'll see is those Superfriends figures, sadly.

OK, the rights issues suck. Why not let fans enjoy what they love? Everyone has their own opinions, demands, wishes, and that keeps us, the fans, from having what we want. I understand that one company may own the rights to a show, and another company may own the rights to the characters, and the actor owns his likeness, but come on... Everyone should grow up and understand that there are fans out there who don't give a crap about money issues, demands or whatever, and settle the small stuff, giving fans what they want. Sure, I wouldn't want Adam West or anyone else to get railroaded on the deal, but if the deal is fair, go with it. To argue keeps the products from being produced, which causes fans to lose interest.
That being said, a nice retro Batman line from DC Direct featuring a 1966 like Batman, Robin, Batgirl, Joker, Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler, Mr. Freeze or any other comic character featured in the 1966 Batman line would be cool. It wouldn't have to be called Batman (1966) and the figure would have to look like Adam West, Burt Ward, or whoever... but the costumes would have the same color scheme and design (OK, Batman's costume might have to lose the eyebrows, and Joker's figure wouldn't have a painted over moustache)
