And if so, can we contact them and make requests to make sure the line doesn't absolutely blow like it did on TDK? The figures weren't bad, but even the best ones had issues from quality to distribution issues (I never saw a Movie Masters Batpod). Also, they continued releasing those stupid small vehicle with a stuck batman. Can't they make those vehicles WITHOUT the batman in the cockpit? remember the Batwing from The Batman? I was so miffed at it. TDKR is coming out with a Batwing. If we get a toy of the ship, I hope to God it will be with an empty cockpit. I also had gripes with the quality of the Movie Masters figures, and the fact that Batman's cape was a piece of plastic hanging down off its back. They could have done something better there. Way better. Instead they gave us that multiple scale figures issue that I totally hate (5' figs, 4.25' figs, Movie Masters, etc) instead of sticking with ONE scale.
I don't mean to make it sound like a rant, but I've been very disappointed with Mattel's stuff since they took over the license, especially when it comes to movie figures, or cartoon figures. The Comic ones are nice, sure, but I'm sick of seeing a ton of repaints with Brave and the Bold instead of more villains and heroes (They could have released a Ra's al Ghul figure, or a Batmite). At least Brave and the Bold has awesome awesome vehicles with open cockpits in which you can seat figures in. Brave and The Bold also gave us the best Batmobile I had seen in YEARS. That toy is fun. Naturally the line was gonna go downhill, but I hope that TDKR steps up to the plate to deliver us excellent stuff like when Brave and The Bold and The Batman started.
And Mattel, if you read this, please, if you do make a Batwing, make sure I can seat my Batman figure in (and not the tiny ones, but the main line ones).
(My writing sucks because I need a new pair of glasses)

I totally agree about the vehicles. As for their figures - I'm really afraid that they are going to be worse. From the pictures we have seen so far the Basic Line figures DO NOT have elbow and knee articulation, which is pathetic!! I was really hoping for a neat Bane figure and maybe Catwoman, but now I'm nearly losing hope...

OK, so I have good news and I have bad news... Mostly bad, though... The good news is that "The Bat" will actually fit the basic figures from the "The Dark Knight Rises" toyline. Bad news... the basic line is being scaled down to 3.75 inch figures! Are they kidding me?! It's bad enough Power Rangers and well... pretty much EVERYTHING got to this scale, but they could've atleast made these to fit in with the figures from the previous two movies. Also, just as I suspected from the previously available pictures - the articulation is crap. Elbow joints - GONE! Waist joints - GONE!! Bane doesn't have knee joints, unlike the Batman shown. Also, there's finally a decent picture of the basic Bane. mattelbrandsmedia.com/images/d7629db0b2a5ebaa70d52352188bf705882cb5b0/o.jpgAnd it looks like a friggin' bootleg!! Seriously, Mattel, are you f'n kidding me?! They'd better do a better job than this... All information is based on what's found at: mattelbrandsmedia.com/product.php?category=0&product=186

Ok, so here's the thing...Mattel operates off of a mixed model still for their toys. On one hand, they go by the old thoughts on what kids and parents will by (ie: the molded batman in a plane, etc.) This is something they need to improve, for sure. Also, the scale down of the figures is happening at ALL of the major toy companies..even the new TMNT figures will be scaled down. Its everywhere. I personally don't mind..I did at first, but then I realized that I personally only have so much space and I'd like to display as many as possible. Plus, this keeps the costs down too for us...I won't pay $15 a figure! $10 is bad enough.
Valid points on this thread. I don't think you can expect to be impressed by this toyline. Perhaps Hasbro will win the license again someday. You never know.

Oh wow that Bane rediculously bad. Maybe not so bad for 1986 though. I actually like the smaller scale. Its always been my preference actually.

I have nothing against the scale, except when it's in a series that's previously been larger - like Power Rangers and now this. Atleast that new "Power attack" or whatever toyline looks good, so far, but still, I want a decent 5.75 inch movie Bane

A Target "Summer sales" booklet arrived in the mail the other day. And I saw this 4" set listed in it so I picked it up today at the Spring Valley store. The DPCI is in the booklet. 087060434 If thet release that Bruce Wayne as a single. I'll pick a few up for head swaps. 1 with Batman for a maskless Batman. I did it with the 4" TDK figure, but had to glue the head on. This new one looks like it'll be a simple head swap keeping moviement. Then I'll swap one with a Star Wars figure for a Ra's Al Ghul.

Thanks for those pics PJ! While I prefer the 5.75" scale, I asked my cousin who lives in the US if she can pick one of those 5-packs up for me. The Bane that comes in that pack looks slightly better painted (especially around the mask) than on the single-packs on judging from the pics I saw on eBay. Should she get the 5-pack for me I might pick up the other 3.75" sets from TDK, they go fairly cheap on eBay. Oh, and that Night Vision Batman is just begging to become a Beyond custom

Ok. Well. I still hate figures below 3.5 (a bit hypocritical since I own many Star Wars figures, and other 3.5's, it's just that most of my Batmen are 4.5 and above), but I bit in when I bought The Bat, and I was pleasantly surprised, because it had an opening canopy, the shoot out Batman, and so forth. I think it's an excellent fun toy, and it would have been idiotic for me to miss out on it. I bought it on clearance (it was on clearance at the time when TDKR came out, how weird!). I also bit in to the Quick Tek figures, mostly because I couldn't pass them at 2.98 at Target clearance bins after the holidays. They have ALL the figures on clearance, and Fred Meyer has the Armor Batpod on clearance. Can't wait to get that. I think they are excellent figures, easy to display (they look like weapon lockers on my Batcave), and they...aren't that bad! They are really fun! I thought the boxes were gonna be terrible for display, but they really aren't that bad, and due to their small size, I can squeeze them in my final pockets of air. So far I got Combat Claw, Saw Strike, and Tank Buster Batmen, and Fists of Fury Bane. All for $10! I'm currently looking for Air Attack and Cyber Glide Batmen, which I consider to be some awesome variants since...a long time. So in conclusion, I thought Mattel had dropped the ball on this one. Well, they didn't. I'd also like to report that they DID make a 5.5 inch tall Walmart Exclusive Bane for two different two packs (One with a TDK 5.5 in Batman with a regular black suit, and the companion Bane has a brown harness, and the other one is a Hover Attack Batman without the weapons, and a green harness Bane). The Bane features elbow and knee articulation, AAAAAND... They also have a Tumbler exclusive (not the mini tumblers you've probably seen), again with Batman and Bane. Tumbler is the Batman Begins one, and it does conserve the electronics and missiles. The gold detailing is gone, but hey. I bought an $80 Batman Begins black tumbler in December before I had this knowledge. Kind of regret it now. If you want pics, go on ebay and look for them, or ask me for pics of the 5.5 Bane. I'm happy to oblige
