Well I went to one of Wal-Marts today and NO ONE had a clue to what I was talking about, even the manager. Frustrated I went accross town to the other Wal-Mart and the greeter gave me two coins but I couldn't find any displays in that store. Man I hear ya!! I went to FOUR stores and NOTHING!!! One store had the Batman stand up and that was it.

[shadow=red,left,300]Question: What do bikers, cowboys, & Scooby Doo have in common? They all took out Batman. My local Walmart had no kiosks set up, no photos being taken...nothing. Before I left, I asked a greeter if they were have their Batman Begins event. She said that they cancelled it due to the fact that we have a rodeo in town, a biker festival being held out at one of the local casinos, and some moron dressed as Scooby Doo at the store taking pictures with the kids. All of this causes the cancellation of a Batman in store event? She did tell me that they were giving away the coins though, so I managed to snag one. This event sounds like it's turned out pitiful for everyone. [/shadow]

[/shadow] I wonder if there's some way to contact WB about the pitiful job Walmart did in promoting both the event and Begins in general? I'm sure it won't do any good to complain to WM - if they don't offer health insurance to 90% of their employees, they sure aren't going to listen to us.

We went to a few local Wal-Marts today that all had posters up for weeks promoting the event...and all of them had taken down the posters it and claimed to have no knowledge of any event. I mentioned to them how they had the posters up for at least 3 weeks promoting it and it was on the website. And again I was told that there was event planned. PJ

[shadow=purple,left,300]Well, my Wal-Mart experience wasn't any different. I was Father's Day shopping, forgetting all about it. Luckily, they still had posters up around the store to remind me, saying that it's scheduled for June 18. There were no kiosks set up at all. When I asked my cashier about it, he said that he had no idea what I was talking about, and that it was most likely 'hype' or it was cancelled at the last minute.[/shadow]

This is highly disappointing. The posters disappeared at our wal marts a week ago also...then last night both reideen and I tried calling around...nothin'.
Today I went and was able to score the folders w/ the medallion, but thats it.
For SHAME wal-mart! I'll be doing my best to pick up all my figs from Super Target in the future!

Yet one more reason to hate Wal-Mart...I went there this morning and there was NOTHING....and when I started asking several employees about the coins and the kiosks and getting pictures taken with Batman they all looked at me like I was insane....it probably didnt help that I was a big guy in sunglasses with no kids ranting and raving about Batman at 11 in the morning...its a wonder I didnt get hauled off to my local "Arkham"...I hate Wal-Mart p.s.-I went to 3 other Wal-Marts in my area(cause God knows theres one on every corner)and NONE of them had any idea or would admit to knowing what I was talking about.I even mentioned the posters that were up as recently as Wed and got nothing but blank looks. If the event was cancelled, fine, but why the massive cover up???

well i might as well add my sad story. went to good ol' wal mart to find all the promotional signs down and no displays or hand outs. i had my son and his friend with me so i called for the manager to ask what was up. the reply i got was that the "promotion" was just to advertise the toys. when i tried to elaborate on the info that was given about the "in-store" event he also looked at me like i was crazy. now, this is completely stupid. i was there 2 days ago and saw a big cardboard box marked for Batman Promo Event sitting on a cart in the toy section. i asked about that and again got the clueless look. i shook my head and walked out.

For SHAME wal-mart! I'll be doing my best to pick up all my figs from Super Target in the future! I love Target. In fact one of my favorite movies (Career Opportunities) takes place in Target. Yet we don't have one here. Whenever we go to the city (OKC) I make a point to stop at Target. Hopefully we'll get one here soon. I wish Wal-Mart was a LOG member so I could smite them. LOL

I wish Wal-Mart was a LOG member so I could smite them. LOL [shadow=purple,left,300]I share your sentiments. I think I'm going to be a very attrocious Wal-Mart customer from now on. Maybe get a cart to carry around a single polymer eraser?
Or I could just burn the store down. [/shadow]

I had better luck at my Walmart. It's only been open for two months , so they are still gung ho about helping people. I got my picture with Batman and about 25 of those plastic Batman coins. The coins are cool. The manager also let me have the big cardboard Batman they used for the picture. Sorry for all that were cursed by the Walmart monster of "I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU TALKIN ABOUT"

Perhaps you'd consider sharing with some of the less fortunate members... as for LoG, we've put together a little feature on this debacle of an event, including some cool images and extras www.legionsofgotham.org/BEGINSwalmart

I got off work at 4 PM and got to the Walmart at about 5, thinking that it was an all day event.
When I arrived there, the girl didn't really know what I was talking about and directed me to the customer service desk. The girls over there said they think the promotion ended at 4 and would check with their manager. They thought I was with the promotion crew because I had my Batman polo shirt on.
The manager told me that it was a scavenger hunt type thing that they had going on but it ended at 4. He said I should go see if the standee was still at the photo department and maybe I could take a picture.
When I arrived at the photo department they were waiting for me and took my picture and the manager asked if I wanted to take the standee home.
So I missed out on the promotion but at least I got the standee...not too bad though I would have liked to have one of the coins and books...

(vVv) I asked about the standee at one of the stores I went to and was told they weren't allowed to give them out. Apparently they used to, but WM corporate came down on them, so now they just destroy them. Seems that nothing is consistent when it comes to WM.

Ha! You're right. I saw the cardboard set up in electronics. They told me it was there when they came to work, but they had no idea what it was for. I asked them what they would do when they were done with it. They said they will have a silent auction on it in the back. I was then ushered over to the photo lab not photo studio where someone said when the event was over they would let me know. Hmmmm. I wonder what event they wre talking about since they had no clue about any event 5 minutes prior. Anyway I gave them my name and phone number, but on the way out tof the store I wondered if I would ever get a call.

I made the rounds yesterday, there are five wal-marts in our area, only two had the packets and knew what was going on. When personell at the other three stores were asked they looked at me like I had a third eye in the middle of my forehead. Wal-mart is VERY inconsistent. At least I wound up with eight of the coin packets though.

Hey, to anyone that got the standee, we could REALLY use a nice pic of it. Also, if anyone got pics of them or their kids taken with the standee, post or email 'em over and we'll add them to the memory page for the walmart event!

Well i just remembered it today (being monday). I'm dissapointed to hear all of this. I'm gonna ask my sister if she can score me a display after awhile or maybe check for more coins. Sometimes they have extra. If i can get any coins i'll give LOG as many as i can. BUT no promises.

Well I had a similar experience. Went to all 4 WallyMarts in my area and NOBODY knew anything. Two of the stores were doing the pictures with standee, but that's it. No folders or coins! I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to this event for sometime.
Anyways, BruceWest or Matt or Arkham16. If anybody can score me a coin or folder I would appreciate it!! I'm sure I can find something in my bag of Batman goodies to trade with....
Thanks! Kolawan

Well, I e-mailed Wal-Mart Sunday morning with my distaste for what had happened and I got a phone call from one of the stores we went to Saturday saying they were going to send me a giftcard for my troubles. I don't know how much it'll be for, but at least they did something to try and make it up to us. PJ

[shadow=red,left,300]I just called my local Walmart concerning their displays for this "event". I was told they've already been destroyed. Not much of a surprise considering when they had their huge Star Wars Episode 3 displays, I found a note on the back of one of the Vader standees that said "Not to be given away! Will be destroyed after use." Oh well, didn't hurt to try. It's not like they used the displays anyhow, seeing as they cancelled the event in my area.[/shadow]

They could donate them to daycare centers or auction them off for charity.
