..so how much did you know about Begins before you saw the movie? Back in '97 before "Batman & Robin" (excuse me for mentioning that profane movie) I had this great idea to read the novel and comic book adoption BEFORE I saw the movie...as a consquence the movie was a lot more boring and predicatble than it already has been. With Batman Begins I wanted to remain a 'virgin', I avoided begins websites, script discussions and refused to watch any making of's or that promo during Smallville. Unfortunately some jerk posted the twist with the Joker card in a spoiler-free thread but apart from that I haven't seen more than the two theatrical trailers and my patience has been rewarded. Seeing Begins without knowing anything about the plot made the experience so much better. I hope I can remain being unspoiled for the sequels...

I was sent a copy of the initial script back in early 2004....so unfortunately, I knew the twist(s) right away. Funnily enough, though..it really didn't take away from my enjoyment of the film.

I gave my best effort in trying to avoid any major spoilers, but sadly in the last couple weeks prior to release, everything "major" became exposed.

For so long, I avoided reading or seeing too much on the film, but in the weeks prior to it's release I made the mistake of picking up and reading the film's storybook, which gave everything away. Even though I would have loved to have gone into the film unspoiled, it didn't effect my overall enjoyment of it.[/shadow]

I had read Goyer's first draft around the time they announced Rutger Hauer being in it as Mr. Earle. Honestly there's something totally different about seeing it. I knew the Ra's Al Ghul twist, and I knew the Joker teaser, but seeing Liam Neeson as Ra's and seeing Gordon holding the card were none less enjoyable. That doesn't mean I don't wish to go back in time and stop myself from revealing Ra's Al Ghul's secret. ;D There wasn't much different from the first draft and the working script, the only major additions were Zsasz and the little kid if I remember correctly. Seeing Zsasz was just cool, and the kid showed me that the makers really do understand Batman the way that I see him.

Yeah I'm SO glad I was unaware of the Ra's Twist, it was a surprise. I'm glad I haven't seen much footage, the visuals were just mind-blowing - especially everything cape/impulse related.
By the way HOW did the script leak anyways? I hope the person responsible has been severely penalized... *evilgrin*

I did know about the Joker card scene but somehow avoided the Ra's / Ducard twist. It floored me, even though I knew that somehow Neeson would re-appear in the film - I just thought that it would be as the Ducard character. It was funny; way back when the casting was announced, I thought that Neeson looked more like the classic Ra's than Watanabe did, but I wrote it off, since Nolan seemed so spot-on with every other casting choice. ;D

I'm happy to say that I was basically unspoiled when I saw it, altho like with /\/\att, I'm sure it wouldn't have made it any less enjoyable or great. But I really enjoyed being surprised by the film.

I was vaguely aware of a few things in the movie but I didn't know the context of them.
Like I knew who Ra's really was going in, but I didn't know how it was revealed. In away I think I liked the movie better knowing the twist since I didn't like that Watanbe had a whole 2 seconds of screen time and it made a lot more sense Batman's training with Ra's was actually with Ra's and not some random dude...
However (FIGHT CLUB SPOILERS AHEAD, just warning the 3 people who haven't seen it yet) I really enjoyed Fight Club, but I didn't know it's idenity twist before watching it and enjoyed more watching it again a second time knowing the twist... so I wonder if the things I knew going in would have been much more rewarding if I had realized them in hindsight. I really wonder if it recontextualizes the movie thinking Ra's isn't Ducard when you first see it.

I couldn't get enough of the trailers and tv spots before it was released, and everyday i eagerly checked comingsoon.net for new ones.
but after seeing all the trailers and tv spots, it dawned on me that i've probably seen most of the movie already!
and I couldn't resist reading reviews and opinions about it, and even when there were clear spolier warnings, i couldn't hold back, and carried on reading. i had been warned by a friend that there is a major twist, after he found out by reading reviews, but I still couldn't help it. I was quite upset when I realised I read what the twist was and that i'd spoilt it for myself.
In a way, I think they gave us too much in terms of tv spots and film footage. a couple of trailers here and there would have been enough, then seeing the movie 'fresh' would have been an even better experience. i've seen the Ducard "criminals thrive on the indulgence of society's understanding" speech so many times, I was almost mouthing it along with Neeson when I eventually saw the film! the same with the "magnetic grapple gun" and Tumbler Test Drive scenes with Fox. when this scene was on, I was almost wishing it would hurry up and go to the next scene that I haven't seen before, and that can't be a good thing.
