So - do you give her another go at it?
I think Uma is a talented actress. I also think that the writing for Batman and Robin was horrible. I just finished watching Batman Forever on DVD - the first of the J.S. films, of course. You could say that Batman almost derailed with the second film - Batman Returns. Too dark? Okay, change directors. Batman Forever. Comedy? .....Batman and Robin. Too much like a comedy? Bury it. My point is this:
A bad script can kill the performance of any actor.
If you wrote another Batman movie that had Ivy in it, could Uma pull it off? If you want a sharp contrast in Batman movies (60s aside), compare Batman and Robin to Batman Begins. I think we are all in agreement that the scripts are quite different between those two. With that in mind, I say that Uma Thurman could do a good job with the part given a better script.
I have noticed that a lot of our posters have commented about her performance and some have mentioned other actresses that could play the role of Ivy. It is hard when "fantasy casting" to not pick an actor that just looks like the character that they are going to portray. I think that Uma's look still works. Her slender build works well, and I don't think that height is really too much of an issue. (although I keep shaking the animated Ivy from "The Batman" from my head since she is so young in that incarnation)
More important than that is the acting ability and the script you give the actress. There is no point in just grabbing an actress that looks like Poison Ivy and saying "Here! This chick looks like a plant!" I originally agreed with them casting Uma as Poison Ivy, but winced when I saw the B&R story unfold on the big screen.
We are in a new era of movie making for comic book movies now. I believe that movies in general have finally discovered that you can't cover a bad script with good special effects anymore.
(Back to comic book movies): Writing has improved. X-Men, Spiderman, and Batman have approached their stories in a serious manner and wow - actually pulled it off. Writing and scripting has changed incredibly since Batman and Robin was released.
So I say give her another chance. The tough part of the argument is the overall weirdness that she would essentially return to a role she has already played, albeit in a reset universe. Also - what other actresses of today could fit the role? Those may outrank her. All the same, it would be fun to see Ivy in the new era of movies - and I think they should give Uma a chance. (Assuming she would want to try.)
Thoughts?

I would love to see Poison Ivy appear in the new films and i did like Uma's performance in Batman and Robin {which is not too bad when i look at it - i've seen worse!} - However if she did portray her again i think people will think the films are connected somehow!
I have been posting people like Marcia Cross who i think looks like the early Poison Ivy comic adaptions but the modern Ivy comics she has become much more younger and feminine - I dont mind who they pick even if its a no-body! The fact is that if we {the fans/audience} believe the actress to be Poison Ivy and the origin and motives make sense than the film will not fail!
If Uma was to be Poison Ivy again than i would love it - Poison Ivy after all is my favourite Villain! But i dont think she will as she did not like playing her in the first place! But all i hope is down the line Ivy will have her comeback and be trully evil!!

Would I give Uma another shot at Poisen Ivy?... NO!
I'm not personally a big fan of her's (not Nec. a "hater" either). Regardless, the one thing about peoples opinions of B+R thats always surprized me is the acceptance / praise of Thurman's Ivy performance? refering to it as the only "saving grace" or worthwhile performance in the flick? With all due respect to Everyone, IMO she stunk everything up just as much as everyone else. I dont think she did any worse or better than Arnold Etc.
No character in that movie received any justice or respect whatsoever from any of the cast, and no one's performance was anything more than "barely there". Nobody involved (at any leval) cared or took anything remotely serious. I'm not bashing, it was just the mentality of the time due to the "evolution" of numerous asspects. They skrewed up and know it and accept it now. Just a big silly runaway neon train (wreck).
I dont think Uma would approach the role any dif at this point and dont think she's "right" for it ultimately. There are certainly plenty of acctresses though that could fit the bill nowadays?

[shadow=purple,left,300]A part of me says "Sure," but then I remember that the only movies she's really good in are ones directed by Quentin Tarantino. Thus, QT would have to direct a Batman movie. And honestly, I don't want him coming anywhere near Batman, so I guess the answer's "No."[/shadow]

No...the answer would be no.
Not all of me is saying no. Believe me, she was good at representing Poison Ivy but I think she's getting a little too old for that, we need someone fresh and young to take her place that is much better known for her seduction.

Piera Coppola ;D Just Kidding although her voice acting is great. I liked Uma Thurman's take on Ivy but I wouldn't say we should get her to do the role again, remember Arnold's take on Freeze I can't help but laugh. anyways i think someone else should be given a chance at Ivy. Riddler

How should I say this? I want anyone who worked on Batman and Robin to stay as far away from this new series as possible.

Uma had her shot. She did decent, but I couldn't get into her characterization of Ivy. I have never been a big fan of Poison Ivy fan anyway. I really don't care who would play Ivy for the most part. Same with Penguin.

Apart from that, she's been there.I believe it would be wrong and a MASSIVE mistake to get any Actor to reprise any sort of role from the previous films. With a new start came new blood and i want it to stay that way and i'm sure Nolan and co feel the exact same way.

Uma was GReAT in "The Producers".... okay I got that outta the way. A-hem... I could name lots of people who could be great for MANY roles. Hmm... Jennifer Ellison for Poison Ivy. I loved her performance in Phantom of the Opera.
Hmm... For Mr. Freeze (I hate California's governer because of that movie. I loved him in Terminator, but he ruined his career with Mr. Freeze.) I think that Richard Gere would be a fantastic performance for the remake of Mr. Freeze. Absolutly stunning... He'd be perfect. He wouldn't give that big HA HA HA that Arnold gave, becasue Mr. Freeze never really laughed or cackled. He was the most depressed Batman villain ever, and the movie destroyed Mr. Freeze. I'd really like to see Richard Gere.
Next, Two-Face. Hmm... Vince Vaughen... perhaps. He's the only one I can think of who'd make an impressive mobster... or even that guy from Ratrace, the guy who dragged his family along with him... can't remember his name though.
Finally, the moment you've all been waiting for, the new Riddler! Just kidding. I think Jim Carrey was irreplaceable, he just was too funny, and the Riddler does riddles, he doesn't tell jokes. Rewrite the script, but keep Jim Carrey. But if they HAD TO replace Jim, I'd like to see... Robin Williams? Maybe? No? I don't really know, Jim Carrey was just so great, he's the reason I fell in love with Batman.
Anyway, those are just my thoughts.

Interesting. As fun as it was seeing Jim Carrey as the Joke..err...Riddler, I would like to see an actor that gives more of a "The Batman" animated series performance. The writers for that show seem to have found a great medium between Riddler's "intelligent puzzle creator" self and his fun side.
I think The Riddler's voice in that show has it's own little twist to it. ....Robert Englund? Wow. Freddy Krueger did the voice of The Riddler. No wonder things seem a little eerie in his episodes.
Back to Uma - Well, I had my doubts just because of the whole "reprise shock." I wouldn't mind seeing it though. I do believe that the point that the writing and directing was so bad that you can't blame the performances entirely on the actors. If Arnold could play a cold character like the Terminator and a goofy character like his on-screen Freeze, it seems like under good writing a direction...he could have found a medium between the two.
I am not saying yeah bring HIM back, but stressing that I think there were multiple things that went wrong with B&R.

It would never happen, so its hard to take seriously...but I wouldn't be against it. Uma is a great actress, and I don't blame the actors for the terrible script, you know?

Uma did the best with the script and this is the reason most people praise her role as Ivy. I mean every movie has something good. She is a great actress and I like all her performencs(can't wait to see the Producers, I think this is one of her sexiest roles, or HUSH Riddler? ) Even if her movie choices aren't that good, she always do her best and stands out (and critics always say the same). btw: Can't wait to see her as superhero in "My Super-Ex Girlfriend" ;D I would like to see Scarlett Johansson as Ivy! She can act and has the perfect look (lips ) for Ivy! Marcia Cross looks good, but she is way to old for this new francise...

I guess the blame could go the JS *cough* But the acting wasnt all that great either. I agree with most of you as in keeping the actors away from the new Batman Series. Watching Batman Begins and Batman and Robin you wonder 'Geez, wth was JS thinking?? Its just a bunch of motorcycle gangs and tall buildings and rubber nipples' It really ruined Batman's character. And a hockey scene? o_0 JS, stay away from any more rubber suits shall we? :/

I agree that it would never happen. I would want someone younger, but also a more bitter, desperate Ivy, with less of the vamp / striptease routine. I can't think of too many young actresses with that vibe, except...maybe Mia Kirshner, in a ratty auburn wig.

Maybe someone less known by other people...Im not sure who I would really root for. Not that many young actors these days that could fit Ivy's character. Perhaps we'll have to wait for Dakota Fanning to grow 10 years >.>

If BB came out just 3-5 years ago, I would say yes. uma is a good actress and I don't realy think any of the crap from B&R can be blamed on her. But, as stated before, she's getting older and that wouldn't work in this new franchise.

No Because Poison Ivy wouldnt work in Nolans vision.I like Uma and think she is a good actress but she has been in too many clunkers for WB so far(Avengers,B&R)for her to return.I dont see any actors from the old movies returning Avengers was WB wasnt it?

Maybe not. She is an excellent actress. Give her a good script, and she runs with it. She did well in Batman and Robin, but the movie was not good. She fared much worse in The Avengers, where she played Emma Peel. At least with Poison Ivy, she managed to smile more.
However, I think the next movie SHOULD steer clear of Batman and Robin. And Ms. Thurman is almost a decade older, and may not be such a great choice for the role today.

Um no shes too old but she wasnt terrible in B&R!
however: Ivy would work in well in Nolan's movies if shes working with Ras Al Ghul (you know the whole destruction of Gotham thing!)
If he were to come back, she could easily be used as a pawn of Ras Al Ghul!!

I think that the whole thing about certain villains "not working in Nolans vision" is a load of crap. Villians have been done and redone many times, interpreted many different ways. Nolan can surely come up with some new way to fit some of the most classic villains into his franchise. I have faith in his creativity.

Prince? Never. He's like a psychotic version of Michael Jackson! Look at him! But you know, lets stay on topic. Kristanna Loken anyone? Prince got a bit too serious on the cd the only song I could listen to without hearing about well you know, what Prince talks about in most of his songs was 'Partyman', I loved that song. Michael Jackson is a nice guy seeing my friend who was an impersonator met him and worked with him now and then till my friend meet his death *sob*. Michael can sing, but most of his songs aren't much like his hits 'Beat It' and such, alot of his songs are peaceful and having to do with cheering people up. Although I recommend the song 'Jam' that song is an awesome track along with 'Black or White' for all of the action and dancing kind of people. Someone told me a rumor about Michael doing Riddler in 'Batman Forever' I'm not sure if it's true though. Hmm Kristanna Loken, I don't know seeing I haven't seen most of her roles.
