Whenever a Batman movie is going to be released in theaters, has anybody here ever done anything during the day, the month or the year of it's release to get yourself excited or motivated or in gear to see it? I am so huge a Batman fan that I certainly have. I've certainly got into my own Bat Hype in movies past.
BATMAN: THE MOVIE: 1989. I was 17 at the time. Right before my senior year of high school, I enjoyed hearing Prince's Batdance played on radio stations. The week of the release, I bought the Official Souvenir Magazine and the Toy Biz Batman figure. On the day of, I went out to Hamilton Place mall that afternoon and bought my tickets early for the late show. I went to a gag gift shop and bought the PVC figures of Batman, Robin, the Joker, and the Penguin. And I stood in line (close to the front with popcorn and drink in hand and got in and grabbed a good seat and SHOWTIME!! I bought the movie book and paper back novel and the Danny Elfman score later as well as the Toy Biz Joker, Batmobile, and Batwing. Beyond that, I got the Dark Knight Bruce Wayne/Batman figure as well as the Joker figure that looked like ole Jack. We got our first VCR during my senior year and the first movie I ever bought and owned on VHS was Batman: The Movie!!
BATMAN RETURNS 1992: Half way during my college years. A year earlier, I began my quest to find the New Adventures of Batman on rare video and got only 4 episodes at the time. During that summer, I bought the souvenir magazine and on the day of the movie release, I watched Trouble Identity from the 1977 Batman series on VHS featuring Catwoman. Then I went out early and bought my ticket, waited for hours and was among the first admitted in, got my good seat and SHOWTIME: Later summer, I bought the Danny Elfman score. Figure wise, I got the Penguin and the Batskiboat, but it wasn't until during my junior year that I found and got the Catwoman figure. Later that fall, I bought the movie on VHS as well as the movie book and the paperback novel. I enjoyed watching Batman and Batman Returns on video in my dorm room on Halloween Night.
BATMAN FOREVER 1995: I was really excited. Especially since Robin was going to be in it. I enjoyed Kiss From a Rose on the radio knowing that it was tied in with Batman. With Batman: The Animated Series out, I went out and bought the souvenir magazine. I was bummed out that I couldn't find a movie book. (Though I did acquire a UK version of it on ebay a few years ago). The day of the movie's release, I watched Second Chance with Two Face, Riddler's Reform, and Robin's Reckoning I&II on Batman: The Animated Series from shows that I taped. Then I went out to the mall very early, bought my tickets for the late show early and all same as before. Later, I bought the score album, some posters, the paperback novel, and two pack figures of Batman and Robin as well as the Riddler and Two Face as well as the Batmobile. I bought the movie on video and enjoyed viewing it on Halloween night.
BATMAN AND ROBIN 1997: With this movie, I bought the movie book and souvenir magazine as well as the paperback novel early. On the day of the release, I watched episodes from Batman: The Animated Series that featured Batgirl, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and Bane. I eventually bought the main figures from the movie but I liked my 12 in. Batman, Robin, Batgirl, and Poison Ivy figure the best and the regular sized Mr. Freeze who looked like Arnold. I also bought the Batmobile, the Red Bird cycle and the Batcycle. I was disappointed that WB delayed releasing the animated video movie, Subzero with Mr. Freeze. Didn't get in until 1998. No score album to buy. That sucked! Then again, it was all recycled music anyway. I bought the movie on VHS I think before Christmas.
BATMAN BEGINS: Didn't do much hype this time. I guess maybe it's age. I was 33 that year. I bought the movie book, paperback novel, the main figures from Batman Begins as well as the 12 inch Action Cape Batman. I watched Nothing to Fear and part 2 of The Demons' Quest on Batman: The Animated Series before going to see the movie on opening night, which oddly enough was on a Wednesday and not much of a crowd for that late show. I bought the score album and this was the first Batman movie I've bought on DVD along with the other 4 movies in the complete anthology as well as both serials and all of Batman: The Animated Series. I got to watch Batman Begins on DVD on Halloween Night.
Anyway, I guess I am too much of a Batman fan that I do all this to get geared up for a movie release of Batman. I know that before the Dark Knight is released, I'll watch BTAS episodes with the Joker before going to see it. Maybe even Mask of the Phantasm. And buying the score album, figures, paperback novel, and movie magazines is a definite must. Anybody else ever get caught up in the Bat Hype? Cheers.

I wasn't around for the first Batman. I didn't see Batman Returns since I was like 1. I saw Batman Forever and Batman & Robin in theatres and I remember I was very excited about them (keep in mind I'm still a little kid) and I actually liked both of them (I mean like 4 and 6 here people). But since there was no Batman movie for the next 7 years, I started to lose interest and focused more on Spider-Man.
Then I start hearing about them making the fifth Batman which was I heard was a prequel to the other four (this is like '03). When I first saw the promotional images of Christian Bale in the batsuit and the battank, I really wasn't sold. I still was thinking Batman & Robin was good until I finally started hearing the bad reviews and then I realized how truly awful it was. It also wasn't until I finally learned more about the Batman comic world, where he was actually a dark brooding vigilante instead of the campy type hero I knew him as. So then I heard it wasn't a prequel at all, but a complete restart. It was now then that I was set. It was then early in 05 that I found LoG and found the Begins page and started checking out news and rumors. Then when the Superbowl came around I only watched it up to when the Begins promo aired and it got me even more pumped up. I was waiting for the toys as well hoping to get a Batman, which was the only figure I was waiting for. I kept getting pumped up more and more. Then the day finally came. Off the bat (no pun intended) I knew this would be the greatest Batman movie of all, and it was. It had everything a Batman fan could ask for: an origin of the gear, the real alliance with Gordon, and no Joker killing Bruce's parents. And with the Joker card at the end of it, I was emmideatly wanting to see the sequel.
And now with The Dark Knight fastly approaching, this will be the official first time I'm really hyped for a Batman movie, since I am keeping up with news of casting and everything. I really can't wait for The Dark Knight!

Like wise all star, I was not around for the theater premire of batman, I remember my brother took me to see Batman Returns when I was 1. I had nightmares of the hideous penguin and when Max Shrek got electrocuted... oooh. I loved Batman Forever, I hated Batman & Robin, and when I first saw Batman I was five... The Death of the Joker scared me so much with his broken, bleeding face that I never wanted anything to do with Joker again. Then my mother went out and got me a BTAS pillow case and blanket since I was always watching Batman Forever. The blanket had Robin's "R" and the Bat-symbol all over it. The pillow case had Batman with Riddler, Joker, Harley and Penguin on it, the other side had Robin, Two-Face, Clayface, Catwoman and I think Killer Croc. Two-Face freaked me out so I always had Batman's side face up. I finally saw Batman again when I was twelve and was like COOOOOL. My friend Jacob surprised me with the first two volumes of BTAS for Christmas. I watched those and fell in love with the show. Then when looking for fan art of Riddler (he was my fav. mainly because I loved Jim Carrey) I stumbled on LoG and since then I've been a member... Then Batman Begins came out and I was totally pumped, that was the first time I was excited for a Batman movie. Now I'm really really excited for "The Dark Knight". When BB came out I knew Scarecrow was in it and he was one of my favs. Because I had watched BTAS so much I knew all the villains. And I knew which ones I liked and which ones I didn't like (liked most except for Talia [loved Rah's], Croc, Penguin and Roxy Rocket.)

When I first heard of them doing a new Batman film I was stoked. I started buying every magazine and watching every entertainment show trying to get new info on the project. Once Batmania hit I went berserk. As for the day of release, I went to the mall and spent all my birthday money on a poster, a standee, a shirt and hat, a couple magazines, and an applause doll. I ate before i headed over to the theatre so i didnt have to get anything at the concession stand. I was first in line at the ticket booth completely decked out in Batgarb.lol. First in the theatre for prime seating and was captivated for 2 hours. I went and seen the film 16 more times after that over the course of the next 5 months until it was released on VHS.
For Returns, the weekend before the release I had a big Batman party. Typical party except there were Batman decorations everywhere and I had Batman playing all night. I did the usual buying of products and on the day of release a couple friends and I skipped college to go see it. It was the first movie to be played in the new THX room at one of the local theatres.
For Forever, I actually remember being more hyped for the home release than the actual theatre release. I didnt even go see it until it was opened for 2 weeks. I guess I was in Keaton withdrawal.lol
I was even excited about Batman and Robin, until I went and seen it.
For Begins tho, I really wanted to relive that magic that happened in 1989, but I just didnt get it.

Despite the fact that I have been alive for all of the Batman movies, I can only remember that I have seen Begins in the theaters. I don't remember if I have or not on any of the rest. I had saw '89 so long ago that I hadn't remembered a bit of it until I watched it again last year.
I really don't do much to get hyped up. That just isn't my style.
