This was a good idea, the title. Because it shows that they aren't redoing the titles like the first movie series.

Im not sure what to think of it. Not going for Batman again is good and I think that with this title they will truly bring out The Dark Knight we want.

I like the title.....its a step towards taking the stigma off of a "hero" film, by leaving out the characters name.

Its like if they will continue like this, the whole trilogy will be: BATMAN BEGINS, THE DARK KNIGHT, THE CAPED CRUSADER.
And if they did the same for Superman: SUPERMAN RETURNS, THE MAN OF STEEL, THE MAN OF TOMORROW.
But some people, and me to a point, believes the film is actually BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT. Its just that people will call it THE DARK KNIGHT for short. Like the Star Wars for example. The full title is STAR WARS - EPISODE IV: A NEW HOPE. We just call it A NEW HOPE.

The more I think about it, the better it gets.

I love the title as well. I think that The Dark Knight is perfect. It still sounds a bit odd for a sequal title, but I love it. Jett said that things should be picking up regarding sequal news etc. things are looking even better for the last quarter of this year & the beginning of the next, Bat wise that is. Just wondering if Black Mask is still involved though, cause he said The Joker & The Penguin are the main villians.

I bet the WB people will change it to Batman: The Dark Knight. The title is perfect. As for the Superman sequel. I can see it as Superman: The Man of Steel.

This is a great title... How many other superhero movies don't have their character's name in the title? Plus, the whole Batman "Insert Descriptive Word Here" formulat was getting a little tired. Good to hear that Heath Ledger has officially been cast. I am eagearly anticipating this movie.

I remember a few months back Jett on Batman-On-Film had a pole for what title you would want for the sequel and The Dark KNight was what I really liked. Lets hope this title sticks and isn't changed like End Game was to Begins.

Love the title, natch that's what he is!
Just wondering if Nolan chose that to give Batman an international appeal. Knight, and in appealing to the English. Hmm, come to think of it Heath was in a movie about Knights. Methinks perhaps that may be why he was chosen as The Joker?
Oh well, can't wait to see the clips that hopfully will leak out as they start making the movie. ;D

Hmm, first I wasn't so sure, but the more I think about it, the more I like the idea!
Very interesting!
But I am curious how they'll handle it oversea. Maybe it will be then called Batman: The Dark Knight, because in other languages he isn't called Dark Knight. Or they translate it into the language, but I hope it stays english...
In German it would be "Der dunkle Ritter"

[shadow=purple,left,300]This is a great title! And I don't think we really need "Batman" anywhere in it. James Bond is an iconic character, and his name has never been in the title. Why should Batman be any different?[/shadow]

The title may be 'Batman: The Dark Knight' - it might not drop the 'Batman' part.

You know, this is one of the first titles I suggested for this movie. I'm glad that it is. But I think they should add Batman to the title as in Batman: The Dark Knight.

I think it sounds great both ways, but I'm slightly leaning towards Batman: The Dark Knight.

Does anyone agree that if they continue from The Dark Knight, Part 3 may/must be The Caped Crusader?
BB, TDK, TCC.

i really like the title. im glad they dropped the batman part. the only thing im worried is tthat they may bring batman in. due to promotional aspects, more people will know that its a batman movie if they put batman in it.

well, i'm glad everyones happy bout the title. i, myself, fully support it. ...2008 seems so far away. ;D Does anyone agree that if they continue from The Dark Knight, Part 3 may/must be The Caped Crusader? BB, TDK, TCC. i think the third part part should be called The Dark Knight Returns.

I don't like Caped Crusader for the third one. I feel it comes from Batman's campy days, and this is the Batman we know as the Dark Knight. Originally I was going for Begins, Escalation, Previals, but this aint happening now. When I think of a third title, I let you guys know.
