I have to agree with all of these reasons on why the film isnt making more money.A LOT of my friends and even myself, had doubts about this movie. The WB burned a lot of fans with the last few Batman movies and even all the positive pre-buzz wasnt enough to set our minds at ease.I think the positive word of mouth will spread though and the film will have long term legs...I hope.Although the new DEAD movie and WAR OF THE WORLDS will probably cut into a lot of the Bats box office...I see this movie doing HUGE business when it hits DVD

This past sunday at a Father's Day gathering I was talking about Batman Begins and alot of people where like oh another Batman film? Didn't they already cover the whole how he became Batman and stuff? So I had to set them straight and let them know what they are missing out on. I think I convinced some people to actually go and check out the film.
Batman Begins has made $79,524,398 to date. that I think is pretty good considering the huge SLUMP Hollywood is going throught right now. I bet Batman Begins will crack the 250-295 Million Dollar mark by the end of the summer.

I think the reason why this movie isn't making that much money is because of people are getting tired of Batman movies after Batman and Robin. Either that or the movie is boring for most common folks, because there's a lot of conversations and not a lot of actions.

Last i heard was the BB raked in 150 mil in box office. seeing how this was touted as being based on year one and long halloween and it being batman, i wouldn't be surprised if it comes out in october for a second release similar to what was done with titanic(which was aflop the first time run but was up against some hard hitting competition).150 mill is half what SW:III did in its first weekend, which nothing to sneeze at.Anyway it definately secures a sequel which is fine by me the more Bats the merrier.

As of yesterday (6/22) Batman Begins has taken in a total of: $90,446,984 and with a weak movie line up this weekend (Bewitched, Herbie Fully Loaded, Perfect Man, etc...) I think Batman Begins will rake in alot more money and take the number one spot again.

It should also be noted that WB was only anticipating around 89 million for the entire week (up to Thursday), meaning that Begins is already performing above their expectations. The biggest direct competition to Begins this weekend is "Land of the Dead," which I suspect will barely dent Batman's box office. I'm predicting right now that we see a very small drop-off from last weekend, with Batman earning at least an additional 30 million this weekend. "Batman Begins" is well on its way to a 200 million total, if not a little more, making this the most successful Batman film since the 1989 motion picture. Word's traveling fast on this movie; and though it didn't open huge, the small drop-offs, international total and DVD sales will make this movie a big hit.

Showing strong legs in its second week, "Batman Begins" crossed the 100 million mark on Friday, earning 8 million dollars (off only 45% from last Friday -- a very respectable decline, better than most superhero films!), and retaining the number one spot. These are estimates, and going with last week's trend, the final numbers may actually prove HIGHER than this total. For the full weekend, Batman may find itself with around 26 million dollars...off from my thirty million projection, but a nice sum overall. This film is proving that it has legs, but the question is going to be how well it holds against "War of the Worlds" next weekend. Still, I look forward to some very positive final estimates for the full weekend.

"Batman Begins" also earned an additional 26 million internationally, dropping only 35% from last week. The international total now stands as a little over 80 million., meaning that "Batman Begins" has earned a worldwide total of over 200 million in just two weeks! "Batman Begins" is expected to earn somewhere between 170 and 190 million total in the United States, and should it continue to drop at its current rate, an international total of about 150 million should result, giving "Batman Begins" a worldwide total between 300 and 330 million dollars...and that's not counting the eventual DVD sales, either! This film is far from a flop, it is doing GREAT business for a Batman film.

To point out something obvious, BB is not going to be #1 during the third week when War of the World comes out. ;D

It probably won't stay number 1 but it will have a big weekend. remember its a holiday weekend for both Canada and the US. There are also no new movies coming out besides war of worlds. So think about it people who don't get in to see war of the worlds should proably go see batman. I think it will have another showing of high twenties (26 million). I think this movie will have legs and surley reach 200 million domesticlly.

I think this movie will have legs and surley reach 200 million domesticlly. I agree. At this point it's about 9 million over what the original Batman was at this point and that movie went on to make around 250 million. I would like to see it break 200.

[shadow=purple,left,300]By next weekend, the film will have made beyond its production costs in the United States, regardless of what place it's in. I predict it'll make about $15-20 million over the Fourth of July weekend.
Also, I would be thrilled to pieces if this makes more than "Fantastic Four" at the box office! ;D[/shadow]

The weekend actuals have come in, and once again "Batman Begins" has made slightly MORE than the estimates. Now, this is rare in Hollywood, where the estimates are usually one or two million higher than the actuals, NOT one or two million less! "Begins" earned 27 million at the box office, bringing its total cume to 122 million so far, and only a 43% drop from last weekend, suggesting that this film will have some legs to it and not suffer the same steep drop-offs that most blockbusters have.
For the 4th of July weekend I'm predicting a box office take between 15 and 20 million, myself -- which should roughly be around the production budget of the movie. In all, another very strong weekend for the Dark Knight.

Again demonstrating its remarkable legs at the Box Office, "Batman Begins" has made an additional 4 million dollars on Monday, bringing its total to 126 million thus far. By today it should bring its total to 130 million, and should be going into the weekend with at least 136 million dollars -- ensuring that by the end of next Sunday, "Batman Begins" will have made 150 million dollars.

Batman Begins took in $2,574,479 on Wednesday which is really no surprise with War of the Worlds opening up the same time, but the total on Batman Begins stands at $132,823,668 And hopefully after the weekend it will be near the 165-170 Million Dollar mark

Well, I went to see the movie for a 3rd time yesterday. It was a 2:30 PM showing, and the theatre was half full. Quite impressive IMO for a midweek matinee.

On Thursday, "Batman Begins" took in an additional 2 and a half million, bringing its total to 135 million thus far. Going into the 4th of July weekend with 135 million, by Monday it should surpass its production budget. Holding its own rather well against "War of the Worlds" if you ask me, the film should be on its way to at least a 175 million total, but could finish its run at closer to 190 - 200 million -- which would make it the second most successful Batman film, behind Tim Burton's 1989 motion picture.
It should also be noted that at this point "Begins" has surpassed the box office of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, will soon surpass the box office of "The Longest Yard," and should surpass the box office of "Madagascar" and Feb.'s hit film, "Hitch."

After WOTW and F4 have their first weeks I would look to see Batman gain back some ground as word of mouth is helping this movie and will probally hurt the others, I'm only planning on seeing F4 for Chiklas, he gets a pity ticket, otherwise I would have waited until DVD, actually if the Sheild had a longer season I'd probally wait for DVD.
