First off, I don't want to offend any fans of the Batman & Robin movie. I've been interested in seeing it from beginning to end to see why so many others didn't like it.
So Batman & Robin was on CityTV last night and after trying unsuccessfully 4 times to watch this movie, I actually watched the whole thing and wanted to share my experiences. 1) I rented it once when it first came out and lasted only a few minutes (when the skate blades come out of the bottom of Batman and Robin's boots) before taking the tape out of the VCR totally disappointed in what I had witnessed.
2) The second time I attempted to watch it I got as far as the scene when Mr. Freeze is trying to get his goons to sing the Snow Meiser song before changing the channel in disgust.
3) The third time I made it to the part when Bane is created in the "lab". After wiping away the tears, I again changed the channel, but this time in a rage.
4) The fourth time I finally noticed the butt and cod piece shots right at the very beginning. That time I immediately turned off the TV and went outside to get some fresh air because I was sure I was going to puke.
So, does anyone else have any similar experiences trying to watch what is commonly referred to as the worst Batman movie out there?

Well to my everlasting shame, I liked Batman & Robin in the theater, but I was 12 then so it was still acceptable, yet it was still my least favorite of the four. I was anticipating it's VHS release so I watched the first three. Then I put in Batman & Robin and suddenly everything went bad. Recently I tried to watch it again and I got to the point where Poison Ivy says "enough monkey business" At that point I punched myself in the face and when I woke up the movie was over. I had the reverse effect with the animated series, which I like more now than when it was originally on TV.

I was around about 10 when I first saw it. And I liked it because it was batman, and that kinda movie seems to be made for 10 yr olds when I look back at it today. I watched it on and off for about a year after it's VHS release, and didn't watch it for a long time after that. I acutally became bored of my batman craze when I was about 12. Maybe that movie was one of the reasons why. But, about a year later I picked up a comic and became obsessed again. About a year ago(If that long ago) TNT(I think) aired Batman Forever followed by Batman and Robin. I had no problem watching Batman Forever, I can take a lil bit of cheesyness for it, and although there are flaws I can get through it. Batman and Robin came on, and after the first scene with the skating blades in the dynamic duo's boots I became very disgusted with myself for ever liking this film, this trash. I think I got to the part where batman pulls out his "Batman Credit Card" When I felt sick and turned off the television. Since then I haven't watched the film and do not plan to for a VERY VERY long time.

Well, I've seen the movie only once, when it was released in VHS form, and I was completely disgusted and said, "Well, good-bye Batman" and was SO pissed-off.
Then the second time I attempted to watch it was like, 3 years ago with my little cousins and I got to the part when Robin says, "I want a car, chicks dig the car." At that point I just when out....
Let's not forget that the failure of B & R opened the door to many other comic-book movies like Spider-Man; and ultimately Batman Begins. Thank you B & R!!!

First of all...marndt8448 i'm sorry for you having to watch it.
It's been awhile since watching B & R and i don't intend to watch it again. I can tolerate batman 1 and batman 3 and some of batman 2 but i just can't stand B & R. It was all done wrong. BUT there is one part that stays in my mind, when the dog is frozen while hiking his leg. That just stays with me.

[shadow=red,left,300]I've only watched the film in it's entirety once...when I was unfortunate enough to pay good money to see it in the theater. I really can't stand to watch it again, although I somehow ended up with a VHS copy of the movie in my collection. [/shadow]

lol. Thanks for your concern JOKERFC and Arkham16. I will exalt you both. Yes, the credit card I can't believe I kept watching after seeing that part. My wife and I both looked at each other in disbelief (although, really, in this particular movie we shouldn't have been suprised by this) and rolled our eyes at how brutal it was.

Did anyone else have the sudden urge to yell "You poor bastard!" and give someone a hug when you read the title?
I'd say Uma Thurman doesn't get NEARLY enough heat for what was the worst performance in the movie (the best performance, was of course, by George Clooney's butt, which filled its role to perfection, just beating out Chris O'Donnell's nipples and Bane for best rubber-sculpted prop). "Slippery when wet." Uggggggggh.
And JokerFC, exactly what comic book was "Catwoman" based on? I mean, it says in the title, but I'm still not sure : )

i was around 16 when i went to see this with my dad at the cinema, and after the average-ness of Forever, this seemed to suck big time!
I did actally like the silver and blue suits they wear at the end though (slap me if i'm becoming delusional) and have recently bought the 12" resin kit of Clooney which I intend to paint one day. i also have 2 lifesize posters of batman & robin in the blue and silver suits which i collected tokens from a newspaper for.
some of it really does look so stupid (i watched half of it last night while baby-sitting my 7 year old niece, i've let her watch the first 3 from the 4-film-dvd-boxset, and we all went to see Begins on wednesday evening, so this is the last one she need to watch to get up to date).
the acting by Arnie is particularly bad, especially in the scene where he first gets tranported to Arkham in the fridge-freezer, and pretends to fall on the floor.
anyway, i stopped the dvd when my niece fell asleep, and may have to resume it another day to let her see the whole thing.
the film is very poor though, and i really can't believe that no-one advised Schumacher while he was making it, that it looks terrible.
i mean while robin slides down the slope after crashing the art gallery at the begining, and knocks the table holding the vase, how does the vase fly perfectly vertically? this kind of stupidity just makes me sick.

I have a condition where if I watch a bad movie, say Batman and Robin, more than once, it becomes less bad each time I see it since my expectations are really low. I've probably seen it around 5-6 times and now I dont really mind the campy-ness of it. Worst Batman movie, but not as bad as I thought at first. In fact quite enjoyable.

Yeah jms17, that was bad too. Also about that scene, how many times did Clooney use the line and ask another person "Will you help me?"

This is actually my favorite BatMovie(after begins now..),but please, before you all cut me,let me explain... The reason I love this movie is because it IS so bad, whenever I watch the other Batmovies I always get frustrated that (most of the time)they could be so much better, and stayed closer to the source,if they had done alittle bit more,or tried alittle harder, where as whenever I watch B&R,it doesn't even feel like I'm watching a real Batman movie, its so bad and so far away from the source that I can just watch it and laugh every time. Now please understand I have loved Batman since before I can remember, and I always get annoyed when he isn't portrayed as the "Dark Knight" (it took me a while to warm up to "The Batman",but now I love it),but this movie allows me to see a Batman I don't see anywhere else, and it is truly a terrible sight...

I actually drove an hour and a half to watch this at a midnight show the day before it's opening. I got to the point in the opening fight where Mr. Freez's gun gets knocked up into the air (in the theatre there was a slide whistle sound when this happened, but when I watched it a few years ago on VHS I don't remember the sound being there)... anyway, at that point I got up to leave, but decided to stick it out because it was late and I had driven so far.
I should have left.
I've seen the movie once since the theatre, a couple of years back I rented it becuase my wife had never seen it and couldn't believe it was as bad as I said. She doesn't question me now when I tell her something sucks. Thanks Joel! ;D

You know what I hate most about B&R it was the EXACT same script as Batman Forever. Only the villains have been replaced and Bratgirl was added. BTW it has the exact music as well.
From the opening sequence to the showdown it's all the same...
-opening scene in batcave - ride to crime scene -briefing by Gordon - encounter with villain - sky battle/hero takes a dive - video footage of accident that created villain - 2nd main villain becomes evil/conflict with supervisor/kills supervisor/2nd villain decides to take over world -intorduction of new heroic character - heroic character shows off his/her kewlness (motorcycles, vigilante action) - campy party (hosted both times by gossip gerty) gets crashed by villains - after campy party Batman & Robin argue - villains team up, develop main evil scheme -gotham in peril/heroes get to scene in new suits with new vehicles -running in front of Batsignal
...Akiva Goldmann's creativity AMAZES me... - campy party

You know how good Batman Begins is? Batman and Robin is just the exact opposite! George "The Chin" Clooney was the worst Batman/Bruce Wayne. He had no personality, and he didn't change his voice when he was Batman. And what the hell is up with a credit card with Batman's name on it!!! And is Batman really going to go to a social function? The batmobile was even worse than the one from Batman Forever. They turned Bane into a grunting menace instead of the mega-strong maniacal genius he was supposed to be. And Mr. Freeze? A.S. was horrible and I liked him in just about everything he's done, even Kindergarten Cop! Since when does Mr. Freeze laugh and show other emotions? Now if they could have gotten him to but on the Bane mask, that would have been something to see.
OK, I feel better getting that off my chest.

Actually I can't fully take credit for that one. Back then my local paper wrote something like: "It has the exact same plot as Batman Forever, but they camped it up even more and introduced more heroes, more villains and even more gadjets to please the licensing partners."
