OK, everybody seems to have taken a serious hit of Joker gas. Well, here's your chance to vote.
Who do YOU want to see as the Joker and why?

Personally, I would have no problem with Sean Penn if that rumor were true (and I have my doubts).
But I liked someone's suggestion of Paul Bettany. He would actually be perfect for the role. Don't believe me? Check out a movie called "Gangster No. 1." But be careful, it's not for the faint of heart.

Crispin Glover Years ago I probably wouldn't want him at all being in the Back to the Future movies, but after seeing him really creep it up a bit in movies like Willard and his character in The Charlie Angel's movies, I could see him pulling off playing the Joker. And being a horror fan (especially of the Friday the 13th movies) I pulled out my collection and watched Friday the 13th The Final Chapter with Crispin in it and there were a few scenes with him in it that had me thinking this guy can pull off playing the Joker.... He has the look and the acting chops. photo courtesy of a google seach

Im going for glover but would have no problem with Bettany either.both have that creepy look and it would be easy to morph either into the Joker.bettany was good in Gangster No 1-its a pity the movie itself wasnt better-it hasnt got a patch on the Long Good Friday for a english Gangster flick. of the list above I wouldnt like to see Levine,Depp,Law or Cummings in the role-just something about them that doesnt feel right

I think if Johnny Depp got the role of The Joker (which I would be happy with if Crispin didn't get it) I think that it would focus more on The Joker and Johnny Depp, who is an amazing actor and overall person, and I don't think that is what they are going for with the "NEW" Batman films, I really think they want Batman to be the main focus first and then the villians second

heres my take for it...1) Crispin Glover 2) Johnny depp 3) Sam Rockwell 4) my sleeper pick would be Johnny Knoxville...which he has that evil look on his face and can pull it off.

Crispin Glover gets my vote. I loved his laugh in Back to the Future. Although that particular laugh wouldn't work for the Joker, I'm sure he can pull something great out.

My vote is for Paul Bettany. He just seems right for the role. There's a certain amount of drama to the joker and bettany was good in master and commander. He also seems like he could be a failed comedian so could glover. If glover was chose i wouldn't be dissapointed at all.

I voted for Crispin Glover as my first choice, but Ted Levine is my second. Ted Levine he is the Captain on USA's Monk right? Because I watch that show and the name seems very familiar

I have to say... Crispin Glover was my #1 choice, but I think Alan Cumming could possibly do it.

Can anyone use Photoshop to make his skin white, hair green, and lips red in that pic?

On the Gamefaqs.com board, this guy Divinedragoonkain posted a link for a photo (I think was photoshopped cause it is kinda early for this) of Crispin in make up. Looks good...anyway, he gets my vote! (vVv) img74.echo.cx/img74/4343/gloverjoker1jm.jpg

Yes, after seeing the comparison picture, Glover definately gets my vote! I loved the guy in Williard...he is certainly creepy enough to pull it off!

The photoshopped pic does Glover justice but I'm sticking with Bettany, who apparently is in the running.
On Dafoe, I highly doubt he'd play the Joker and the Goblin. (I mean, isn't one a ripoff of the other, anyway?)

Crispin Glover gets my first vote but if they go with the failed comedian rift then an excelent choice would be Christopher Titus.I loved his sit-com and there were several scenes in which he would loose it and laugh exactly like the Joker and he has a naturally large grin make-up time would be cut in half.I hope someone would photoshop an image of him as J-Man

Out of those listed above, I'm leaning towards Betteny for some reason. I think he has the right build Etc. and his eyes display a deceteful and unpredictable quality. He also has the acting abilities and could manage the appropriate level of energy required IMO.
Glover is an obvious choice and would / could work just fine I'm sure. He certainly has a natural resemblence and real life quirkyness, but I would like him more if he were maybe a touch younger (not a big deal though) and a stronger actor. Perhaps its the unanimous and rampant fan outcry/demand for him thats turning me off?
I dont personally care for Sean Penn, but the more I've thought of it, the more I actually think he might me a good choice? If for no other reason than the very fact he is by and large disliked? He has the peculiar and distinct look that might look wild in makeup and he too exudes an unpredictable and believable threatening essence. As another reviewer recently commented "the Joker should be repulsive, not likeable". I agree 100% we should hate him, not like with Nicholson's performance.
I'm sure there are many other potential candidates that may even be better suited? Of course if the studio has their way we'll get friggin Jimmy Fallon! ! !

What about Mickey Rourke?, he looked great in Sin City and i think he could add a big touch of evil to the Joker.

Of course if the studio has their way we'll get friggin Jimmy Fallon! ! ! NO! ! ! ! That would totally stink if that was to happen. LoL Paul Betteny would be a solid choice as well. He was great in A Knight's Tale. I could see him as The Clown Prince of Crime. I think /\/\att mentioned Denis Leary as a possiblity or a choice, and I gotta say that it wouldn't be that bad of a choice. Rescue Me is one of my favorite shows and he has that great sarcastic comedic presence to him that would work so evily on the big screen.

Thanks for posting it I hope they are aiming for a Killing Joke/Death in the Family Joker. Does anybody know where we could write to try and influence the studio guys on who the fans would love to see as The Joker?

well if the Joker is portrayed as he is in The Batman-Nolan better watch out Hopefully it will be the Killing Joke Joker and Im inclined to think it will be myself with the trend for all things early(appearance wise) that they are doing in these movies

I put this in a previous post. I think Christian Slater would be a great choice. He looks llike a young Jack Nicholson and can do a very good impression of him. If Nolan wants to keep the Nicholson/joker persona going, he should cast Slater

I tried to vote but it wouldn't let me : (
My pick is Crispin Glover. I've met Crispin and he's a very focused, sincere actor when it comes to his roles. I have no doubt he'd put everything he can bring (which is truckloads) into being The Joker. Plus he just looks right, and although I'm not sure he's as tall as CB, I know he's over 6 feet. Plus he can be downright creepy in RL so I can only imagine (and considering the past roles he's played) the level of odd. I'd pay good money to see the on-set interaction between Crispin and Christian in an all-out weird fest.
