I think that I'm going to agree with the majority here; Pearce just, IMO, doesn't look like "Dent material"...It's possible that he could play the part, but, then again almost-anything's possible...Though I am still attempting to figure out if you can make a bowl of cereal explode if you just stare at it long enough; not impossible, just really-difficult...

^ Don't you mean the minority? Guy Pearce is a pretty big fan choice across Batman fan boards. Like Crispin Glover for Joker.
Man, these guys here must hate me for being opposed to their popular choices, lol.
What do you guys think of Pearce as a possible Gordon IF (and only if) Oldman is unable to do, say, Batman Begins #4?

Hmmm, Pearce as Dent? No problem. All for it personally. But Pearce as Gordon?.. I say no. Although I could probably deal with him taking up the mantle of the Bat!?

^ Could we be a little more specific here instead of just saying yes and no? I'm all for defending a casting choice (I'd do it too), but let's have some counter arguments.
I personally can't see Pearce as Dent. I'll state my reasons a little more thoroughly...
Be aware that the following is, as usual with casting, my own opinion and should not be regarded as fact.
As a good guy with mental problems in Memento- a film commonly used to back up Pearce for Two-Face-, I found his character placid and in control. I had no sense of intensity, moral problems (even when he kills Teddy he thinks what he's doing is right and makes the audience believe that), or any inner conflicts that would be required for a good Dent, IMO. When he was telling Natalie that he was going to kill "John G." or that his wife deserved justice, there didn't seem to be any inner darkness or evil that I'd associate with Dent. Obviously, that's the way Leonard Shelby is supposed to be, but I wouldn't use Memento as a good example of a Dent-like performance.
As a villain in The Count of Monte Cristo, he was pretty much more of a jerk than a villain. He had countless affairs with women and was so selfish as to not want to give the toast for his son. One could easily transfer his chracter into a high school setting and set him up as a the good looking jerk and star jock.
I know that Pearce is a good actor and just because he hasn't played a character doesn't mean that he can't, but there are other actors (I've already stated my own choices here) that have played roles that, IMO, possess Dent or Two-Face-like qualities. Therefore, I can more easily see those actors play the role over Pearce.
Who Pearce can play is someone likable that you can care for. Even though I hated The Time Machine, I was still able to sympathize with the character. He was a rather ordinary person (okay, maybe not so ordinary in the intelligence department, but certainly ordinary in his feelings, hopes, and desieres) who was experiencing a pretty much larger-than-life world around him and had to deal with the stress of that. That's Gordon- the most human, sympathetic character in the Batman mythos who is placed in a world where a hero dresses up like a monster and the number one criminal looks like a clown.

I'm sure when Oldman signed on, he knew that this role would probably be for 3 (at least) or more movies, so I really hope they don't change Oldman for anyone.

I meant "I agree with the majority [of people who don't want Pearce]..." I think that it's best to talk things over with other people so that new ideas can come about; who knows? Maybe with time and a little discussing, we could discover a new excellent choice for Harvey Dent/ Two-Face...
I don't hate you...I've started to realize that it's best not to put all of your hopes in one actor/ actor's name, because it's possible that you could be let down...

I'm sure when Oldman signed on, he knew that this role would probably be for 3 (at least) or more movies, so I really hope they don't change Oldman for anyone. I hope so too, man. I hope so too. Btw, here is the quote from Guy Pearce that convinced me that he wouldn't want to go through the prosthetic make-up for Two-Face. www.batman-on-film.com/b5newsarchives34.htmlGuy Pearce has been rumored to play Batman. Guy Pearce has been--and is--rumored to play Harvey "Two Face" Dent. Here is what he had to say on the former (via THE TELEGRAPH MAGAZINE)--
"I could probably cope with some rubber-suit $#!t if someone like Chris was doing it, but someone I didn't really dig? F--- it. Those studio movies are not my arena. I don't need a ton of money. We just bought the house next door to ours in Melbourne and we're going to expand, but it was pretty expensive, so it's like, 'OK! Back to work!' But not to do the biggest, dumbest thing in the world."
remember, just a couple of weeks ago, a trusted BOF source told us not to expect Pearce to appear in BEGINS or a sequel.... If he really thinks that wearing the rubber suit is that much of a hassle, I doubt he's going to want to get make-up all over half of his face to play a comic book villain. Even if he decided to work with Chris Nolan on it, his attitude seems to be that it would be below him anyways and he'd have to "cope with some rubber-suit $#!t." If anything, I think he'd be much more open to playing an uncostumed character without heavy make-up.

[shadow=purple,left,300]My top three choices for Harvey Dent have been Liev Schrieber, Guy Pearce and Clive Owen. The only problem I have with Clive is he doesn't really have the voice for the role. He sounds rather dumb actually.
As for Guy Pearce, as much as it would be a dream come true for him to play Harv, I don't think it will happen, for the reasons mentioned above. [/shadow]

Clive's American accent in Sin City was a bit spotty. But I think his Scottish voice rocks. Other than the voice, I think he'd be great.
Liev Schreiber would also make a great Harvey Dent and is the only one, so far, to be rumored for the role (Pearce was only rumored for a Batman Begins cameo). He made The Manchurian Candidate remake somewhat watchable and showed a lot of qualities I'd associate with Dent.
Both of these guys have the intensity, the range, and the abilities to play the part well.

I understand what you're saying, but, I believe that we, as fans, should wait on something like this and toss around a few more names instead of just talking about a few; for example, my Ventriloquist pick of [John] Malkovich would be one of my top picks, but, I realize that he might not want to/ would be unavailable for the role...

I don't know if anyone's considered him as a contender, but he has the acting chops and the looks to suit the role. While I can't truly see it happening, I could live with it.
Ralph Fiennes also strikes me as a decent actor to take on the role. I could also see him as the Joker. Though I'd rather the role go to Liev Schreiber and Crispin Glover, respectively, both actors have what it takes.[/shadow]

Ralph Fiennes also strikes me as a decent actor to take on the role The more I hear Ralph Fiennes for Harvey, the more I like it. Awesome and strikingly intense actor. Although a bit older and doesn't quite have the look I'd like to see, I would be happy if he were cast. Check out the trailer for The Constant Gardener here www.apple.com/trailers/focus_features/the_constant_gardener.htmlHe seems to be an intense and possibly conflicted character out to do what he believes is right. I think Jude Law could also be a good choice, although he could be a better physical match for Joker and Riddler.

I agree with ^...Ever since I saw "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence", I thought that Jude Law was a great actor; I would rather enjoy seeing a great actor like him as the Riddler, because he more-or-less reminds me of David Glover's Riddler from B:TAS...

It's JOHN Glover. ;D
Batman-On-Film has a Harvey Dent/Two-Face poll. I voted for Rufus Sewell and anybody who supports that choice should too ;D

"Batman" and "Batman Returns" are the only times I recall Harvey being black.[/shadow]
