I saw FF opening weekend and I liked it very much! It was not as good as BB but it was good. The special effects worked and Michael Chiklis as Ben was a great choice!! The Thing's suit didn't look fake, either.

FF is something i may check out when it's released on DVD but that's about it.Jessica is great eye candy but that's not enough for me to go to the Theatre. Now BB,if i could possibly swing going to the Theatre once a week to see it i would, need i say more? Regarding Jessica; when an entire film's success basically hinges on the look/ celebrity of one person, that puts a lot of pressure on the actor's performance; if they don't do so well, the whole thing may come crashing down... Great popcorn flick, but, IMO, it's like most of Marvel's movie properties; all flash and no bang...Sure, there's a lot of cool CGI effects, but no amount of CGI can save a movie from a lack-luster plot/ performance from it's actors (I'm looking at you "Attack of the Clones"...) I didn't enjoy FF mainly because I never really liked the premise; group has powers, become "freaks", outed-by society, want to do good, still outed-by society, whine for awhile...But, that's just my opinion...

[glow=purple,2,300] Perhaps I'm evil, but FF was short and boring.[/glow] I don't think that you're evil...I thought it was boring and slightly-pointless, but, I didn't want to say so and possibly-offend any fans here...

I am a FF fan, or at least I was. I haven't been too impressed with the Ultimate spin on things, and I won't see the movie until it hits DVD.
So for me, "Batman Begins" gets my vote. [/shadow]

Also, there'll probably be an obnoxious amount of ad (printed and televised) coverage, featuring more clips from the movie, allowing me to technically see the movie without having to buy/ rent it just by watching the trailers/ tv spots; have you noticed that Hollywood basically shows the audience the entire movie in the trailer now?

i saw FF last week, and though it was ok, but nothing amazing. an hour or so after, i didn't remember any particular scenes, whereas with BB, i though about it for weeks after.
Alba was nice, but it takes more than casting a hottie to make a good film.
I didn't really like Chris Evans though, but that was just his character though.
and why did The Thing only have 4 finger/toes? is this how it is in the comics, or just something that was done out of necessity?

FF should of been about 45mins long because that's when the action starts. First bit was boring too many misrable people walking around moping. Bring on BB, so much better in every department!

First bit was boring too many misrable people walking around moping. :PWelcome to Marvel Comics Here's something that I wrote on the G4tv boards in the Batman section comparing Batman to Spiderman... NOTE: The following is my OPINION, so, if you don't like it, that's your business. You are entitled to not agree/ agree with me as you see fit. This is just what I believe, as I am expressing my beliefs. I won't belittle you for yours, and I would appreciate it if you would do so for me...[Don't forget his martial arts training....] I love discussing that, and the fact that he had to travel the world and EARN his skills, rather than have them handed to him by cosmic radiation, a radioactive spider bite, or having chemicals doused on him and then being struck by lightning. That, and he never whines about losing his parents; he internalizes it, and allows it to drive him, not destroy him. He may miss them, and it still haunts him, but, he never WHINES about it. That's why I hate Spiderman; by being an [censored], he allowed his uncle to be killed by the mugger, and now, he complains about it, creating the cliche phrase "With great power..." in the process. Combine this with the fact that Spiderman occasionally has the dream about the death of his uncle, and Batman has experienced his dream about the death of his parents EVERY NIGHT SINCE IT HAPPENED, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Wow, not only does Spidey slack off when it comes to earning his powers, he also appears to be a person who remembers tragic events when it's convienient.

This is a bit off-topic, but I belive the real contest for Begins in not FF but indeed Spider-man. Batman was the king in the early 90's, and now Spider-Man has taken over, though Batman Begins the the better film, Spidey 3 will make more than BB2 because kids go see it.
PS- Since they're going to do the Joker right(hopefully), it would be really AWESOME and AMAZING for the film to get an R rating! Think about it, this franchise is aimed for mature people, and it won't keep up with Spidey at the BO, so an R-rated Batman movie is what we've all been waiting for!

Spider-Man's a cool super-hero! Spidey's ok. True, he wasn't a natural mutant, (like almost everyone else in Marvel comics,) but neither was Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Ant Man, the FF, etc, etc and that's just off the top of my head as far as Marvel goes. Marvel initially built their universe around tragic 'accidental' heroes. That was prior to the mutant boom. DC has another whole group of similar heroes - Flash, GL, Steel, Captain Marvel, Cyborg, Animal Man, Immortal Man, Starman, etc who were not 'trained' or 'born with' their abilities. They were 'accidents' also. I'm not even going to try and touch on similar characters from other publishers. My point is, Spidey isn't a unique character based on how he got his abilities. Spidey was a unique character (originally - not so much now though) because he was a hero, saving people, doing good deeds, and he was hated by the public he was trying to protect.

Keep in mind, this is a Batman board, and there probably aren't a lot of people here who like "Spider-Man." In fact, I know there aren't.
Just try and keep this discussion moving without any riffs.[/shadow]

I was just stating my opinion on another message board/ forum on 'the web...Sorry about not placing my usual disclaimer of: The following is my OPINION, so, if you don't like it, that's your business. You are entitled to not agree/ agree with me as you see fit. This is just what I believe, as I am expressing my beliefs. I won't belittle you for yours, and I would appreciate it if you would do so for me...Sorry 'bout that... And, BTW...I used to enjoy Spiderman; it's just I've moved on to other things/ comics characters...I hope that our differences in opinions will not spoil any future friendships...

I'd like to apologize for my reply to BlackMask's reply. I'm still new to the forum (a month) and still trying to get used to everything. And your right, Marvel heroes do kind of get their powers by accident(sometimes DC). I respect your opinion and apologize for belittling it. I'm going to give back the hero I took from you too. You've been a great member on board, and I've seen you've already made 201 posts, now that's pretty damn impressive. I just reached my 200th post a few days ago and you've reached it in just 5 days. Your a great member to the board and I wish you the best of luck on becoming a BatSentry.

That's ok...I have no hard feelings about the differences in opinons...And you're right; DC does have heroes that get their powers by accident, and to show that I don't just "hate on Marvel", I will say, right here, that DC does have lame characters like Aquaman (when the best that he can do is talk to fish...There's a problem...) Also, thanks for noticing my actions on the board; it means a lot to me to know that what I say is hitting the right notes with fans...I'm just glad that what I said earlier won't permanently damage our on line friendship ... Just to show my appreciation for your mature decision of making ammends with myself, I'll hero you ...You've set a fine example of how to correct a potentially-dangerous situation, and I wish you the best, online and off...
