not really a bad movie moment but did anyone else notice in 'Begins' that Sara Stwert who played Martha Wayne only said one line something like "Bruce whats wrong". I kind of thought that such a key character would of said more than 3 words. A little something that always bugged me too.

I'm hoping that there is more on her character in the sequel. I felt that Martha was very underrepresented. After all, he didn't just loose his father. This should have effected Bruce as well. The film really makes Martha out to be the reason the two get shot. I hope that her character is explored rather than just leaving her as is.

Yeah, her character needs more insight and why she was also so important to Bruce. Anyone whose read the "Madness" story in Haunted Knight would know what I'm talking about.

I kind of thought that such a key character would of said more than 3 words. Actually I thought that too. She was basically reduced to a bit player, and after getting Thomas Wayne so right the lack of her character having any impact whatsoever, or any real presence in the film made it stand out even more. I also think missing the iconic breaking apart of the necklace and falling of the pearls being shown in a more detailed way (such as slow motion and/or closeup) was very much a missed opportunity too. It's just one of those truly iconic Batman images that was pretty much glossed over and missed completely. Sev.

After watching Forever again, I found something else I really don't get. One of Riddler's lines: Riddler: If knowledge is power, than a god am I(drags this out for awhile). Was he burping while he was saying "I"?

Was he burping while he was saying "I"? That was one of my favorite parts of Batman Forever! Batman: Joker dancing on the ledge, while Vicki and Bats were hanging on. Returns: Shreck's son saying, "Dad, save yourself." Forever: The whole scene with the cop and the safe filled with acid. B&R: Too many to list. Begins: On Bruce's Bday, when Rachel comes over to give her gift and she talks to someone on her phone. Her acting was just horrible in that particular part.

From 'Batman' -The guy who plays Eckhart. He drives me NUTS. -Alfred bringing Vickie Vale into the bat-cave. -Vickie Vale screaming every 3 seconds. -Billy Dee Williams as Harvey Dent. Williams is a great actor, but why change the character's ethnicity?!
From 'Batman Returns' -Transforming the character of Penguin into a sewer-dwelling monster.
From 'Batman Forever' -Any of Jim Carrey's scenes BEFORE he becomes The Riddler. -The onset of bat nips and butt shots. -"I'll get drive through" - HATE this line.
From 'Batman And Robin' -George Clooney. 'Nuff said. -The lame introduction of Batgirl and the horrible performance by Alicia Silverstone. -MORE bat nips and butt shots than the previous flick. -Ah-nold as Freeze. -The beyond-silly one-liners throughout.

ok...ok...i have given this some thought and i'll post SOME of what i think on the topic (i read the whole thread, it took some time, lot of repetition which is ok, just supporting ideas previously spoken, i wont remember everything, but i'll post some of what i think)
anyway i wont include too much on just acting errors i personally think katie holmes did ok in batman begins i never really had a problem with her acting...some is a little weak, yes, but i didnt notice it the first couple times i saw the movie Returns: Shreck's son saying, "Dad, save yourself." that is just bad acting, i thought it was stupid and poorly done, unconvincing
anyway now, not gonna do too much into the 2 old batman 40's serial movies blah blah blah besides the fat batman who wore his utility belt below his nipples looks like an old fat guy with horrible acting, a horrible costume (dont ACT like you couldnt go back in time and design something better in the 40's...do not act like you could not) at least get a better menacing actor, batman was dark at first (although quickly lightened up with robin) at least they didnt portray batman & robin with any gay inuuendoes (DEFINATELY butchered spelling on that) because in the early early comics there were definately a few, when robin first came out. this movie was serious (as serious as a crappy acting fat batman who doesnt fight well or even pretend) i definately saw a part in one of these were robin jumped in the skylight, landed on the floor, the chair fell over, he got up, batman jumps in the window (my god the stunts and effects were so lame) and then robin jumped on a bad guy, slid off him, fell on the floor, got up and started punching him and some old guy (who they were robbing) pulled out a gun and started shooting aimlessly, the bad guys ran away, and batman and robin told him that he killed 1 of them 3 times or something (my god who wrote this crap) in addition to the lack of mainstream batman villians, racist villians (like japanese during WWII), and the fact that the villians were made up and stupid i wasnt fond of him using a regular car (although in the comics there probobly wasnt a batmobile yet) ONE POSITIVE THING - they invented the batcave for the serial and it took to the comics that is cool
now to batman 1966 ok the bat shark? i know the show was known for its campiness but this is just ridiculously stupid...the show itself didnt have stuff like that, at least not at first if you watch the first like 25 episodes, they are pretty freaking cool it makes me imagine how awsome a live action batman series could be nowadays...*drools* the first episode had the riddler, some really stupid scenes where batman dances disco and stuff, but the acting was cool, the gadgets (although sometimes poorly done) were cool, riddlers tricks and explosions and riddlers were all very cool next ep had penguin, very good acting on the villian again, and i liked the story, was very comicy portrayal of penguin once again accurate the first joker episode, where he used a huge spring to get out of the jail (this was pre arkham in comics i think) very comicy and cool, good acting on joker, penguin, riddler, catwoman the mr. freeze episode! NOT bad...same with mad hatter episode...not bad cannot WAIT till that series it on dvd...box set (and the batgirl pilot DEFINATELY has killer moth!!!) my god a live action killer moth!!! although the pilot wreaked of suckiness
anyway the movie...was not like the show started out the leaders of various nations turn into powder...and then back? as do penguin's henchmen? ...ok this movie SUCKED the acting, the jokes (no...i DIDNT like the bomb scene) ok maybe it is a tad funny, but i liked the show, when it was new, it was batman...he was acting serious almost too serious, it was comicy it really reminds me of the silver age and its awsome but the movie BLEW... wasnt that the 3rd catwoman actor?!!? ok the show had some DUMB stuff...the bat phone Alfred, "the phone sir...i think that the fish are biting in lake wabash today." Bruce runs to the batphone (red phone stands out in the room) Bruce comes back Bruce, "Aunt Harriet...me and Dick are going away...fishing." they used this excuse a LOT also they looked and sounded exactly like bruce and dick bruce and dick personally knew gordan, and were constantly in his office, and batman and robin were shortly there later looking exactly the same talking the same batman and bruce spoke so exageratedly serious like william shatner...hard to see past also the stupid batpoles had Bruce and Dick labelled....so dumb
Batman 1989 - ok...joker was good, i liked it it was similiar to 1966, but definately darker ...Batman does not kill he does not kill in that movie he killed over 20 people easily the animation at start...it does stand out as being obviously fake, why didnt they use batman yes, good question but honestly it never bothered me, i think it looks like just real obvious CGI the start was kind of cool, they did some REAL nice batman scenes in that movie, of him gliding in skyglass windows on his batrope, coming in very comic styley that was nice i was confused when jack napier went to destroy the files, batman, it almost looks like he hung one of the robbers looks like the batarang is around his neck, or in his should or something when batman hangs him from the story above and gordan comes in and says oh...my...god... also horrible portrayal of gordan and...i dont remember harvey being black (wtf lando) although i really wish they'd have done two face with him, i think he would've done good you know they paid him to include two face in the 3rd movie batman killed people when he drove into joker's hideout, used shields, dropped bombs (although batman isnt even in the batmobile at the time) he killed at least 20 or so people in that incident i bet also in the tower, and i'm sure he shot some with the batwing (definately killed some that were holding onto the balloons) besides all that i liked some of the stuff about the joker using chemicles oh ya, i saw NO ONE MENTION WHY DID THEY USE JOKER AS THE FREAKING JOE CHILL IN THIS MOVIE oh MY god...so wrong... i get why...and sine they got so much other stuff wrong, might as well this is Batman...an Elseworlds story (as is 2, 3, 4, most of The Batman (the clayface ep where joker uses clay to make his van bounce up and down...), and birds of prey BIG TIME) anyway joker died too, he is supposed to get locked up maybe new movie uses red hood since he wasnt in the old one, would be a little original gordan bad choice for actor doesnt look like him at all oh and i REALLY liked seeing batman throw viles that turned into gas (the jack napier stealing the files at the factory part, AND if you look closely, after he jumps in the skylight and saves vicki vale in the museum, he throws one in the doorway as he leaves) at least this movie was the first COMPLETELY serious batman film revolutionalized batman as we know it today (at least on screen and in animation) i find batman the animated series, somewhat based off of what Tim Burton created (including catwoman, penguin with the wierd hands, etc) anyway...
batman returns - well where do i begin just because batman was cool, u did something new why did you have to go so much more extreme here... ok penguin...**** that! he is a freaking monster, the 60's series penguin OWNS this one...even though he isnt a gangster exactly, just a thief of sorts man oh man penguin i did like catwoman, the origin is stupid, and her dying 9 times is definately stupid... i didnt mind the panda eyes (definately intentional) it is stupid that he tore the mask off so easy, when in batman the first one, and sometimes in part 2, it seems (at least to me) to imply that his whole costume is bulletproof i'd imagine, liked an army helmet, its smaller and bullet proof back to the penguin...wtf he eats raw fish...he IS a half penguin half man (not really, but that is what tim burton was going for) he bites people's noses off and they vote for him he eats the family pet when he is an infant what the ... ok burton NO also bruce wayne DEFINATELY has batsignals installed in his front lawn where EVERYONE can see them...wtf again so dumb i liked how they showed him just sitting there, waiting to be called but not like this...not like this... so stupid once again batman does not kill he DEFINATELY flamed some guy at the start with his batmobile he also killed someone with a bomb penguin is retarded and killed himself ok...penguins with rockets...i am 22 years old, when this came out, i was 8 (it was out in '92, no?) i liked it now...i DONT i had the toy, i wont lie, and i plan to buy it again MOC (when i get it cheap on eBay, as in $3.00 or less including shipping, trust me i will if i wait...) max shrek having a huge cat on top of his building was stupid, some of burton's gotham was too exagerated, and joel's kept the same style, but exagerated it WAY more
batman forever riddler...little much the riddles sucked campineess ensued seriously questoin...is joel schuemaker gay? in the extras he looks like a homo i am just saying, he acts like one more so (no idea he did 8mm and a couple other movies you mentioned although 8mm has homosexual suggestions, as did a couple other movies u named...some are REAL good though) riddler getting all wrinkled at the end was kind of dumb two face dying wasnt good, batman didnt TRY to save him two face flipping coin more than once was very uncharacteristic two face's face having a STRAIGHT FREAKING line through the middle HELL NO i KNOW the sequal to The Dark Knight will not do that straight line BS also, in the flashback where he got scarred, how did his hand get scarred? in TDK sequal i hope to see a shot with his Poop off so you can see that its only his face and hand that is scarred (if they choose to do the hand part) two face acted like the joker two face is a serious homocidal psychtzo who's coin decides ALL for him former friend to batman and possibly bruce wayne too this was somewhat included...some of the extras are mildly cool on batman forever (deleted scenes) robin...pretty lame he is all adult and stuff... he acts all tough and forces himself to being robin (batman accepts in his REAL time of need) alfred making his costume for him without bruce's permission? no way definately can do without the butt scenes (i think there was 1...MAYBE 2 in this movie) i liked the suiting up at the beginning (minus any possible butt scene) the electric taser batarang type things were SO stupid batmobile freaking driving up the wall dear lord jesus what did you do joel honestly what the hell... bad guys with glow in the dark sticks in a big gang was stupid (use a normal gang...) robin doing laundry all ninja styley? WTF JOEL WTF HONESTLY I REALLY WONDER and he accidently found the batcave and stole the freaking batmobile omfg val kilmer if you watch some of his other movies (the salton sea, the saint) he is a VERY good actor...very good the way batman is written and directed, the way they wanted him to portray batman he did an excellent job it was all wrong he could've been great they had him stupid, campy, "Drive Through." "Women." etc nice scene where chase is falling at the same time as robin and her skirt goes up
batman & robin ... ... ... ... well after a long pause Bane - everything (at least he was...strong VENOM LOOKED STUPID, EFFECTS STUPID, ACTING STUPID both little and big bane HIS IDIOCY WAS STUPID JESUS CHRIST BANE IS ALMOST THE SMARTEST VILLIAN 2nd TO RAS AL GHUL he discovered batman's identity...) ok... poisin ivy...she did good, she could've done better if they had written her better, better story and lines she is an awsome actress, pul fiction, kill bill, etc mr. freeze arnold can be a menacing tough actor, check terminator 1 and 2 they wrote freeze like a newb form the ice that wobbles to the ice skates ice that wobbles...worst props every they CAN make the ice not wobble, do not act like even for a second they could not have for like $5 extra dollars, even if they stuck a piece of garbage in there, a rod they found outside... slippers.................. his jokers........... wasnt found on the diamonds or the Freeze, "Take 2 of these...and call me in the morning." like he just happens to carry the freaking antidote to the virus of the butler of batman with him at all times my GOD JOEL I THINK I HATE YOU FOR THESE some of ur movies are cool...but not these and this is ur fault for allowing it to be done this way this is your vision of batman, yes a true depiction of...old 60's batman stories of them meeting aliens and stuff just not realistic, but funny that is a thing of the past batman was seroius at this time, tim burton had established that, as did frank miller, alan grant, denny o'neil etc robin...UGH he is robin not nightwing, they never had the costume or age right batgirl...barbara...GORDAN WTF JOEL omfg (i liked her with the batgirl helmet for her motorcycle, DEFINATELY should've been her costume) someone said that it was stupid they didnt recognize her well yes this is true, but in these movies you have to pretend the mask covers their identities
bruce wayne adopted dick grayson, and gordan went to wayne manner and handed him off then batman gets a sidekick with barely any mask at all...the batman who sounds like val kilmer or george calooney and we are to believe gordan doesnt notice? you have to just pretend the mask actually works lol clooney...also a GREAT actor, could've done a good batman (watch the FIRST half of from dusk till dawn) i wanted to see that kind of acting from george the way joel envisioned him, and the way he was written, line he was given etc ugh ugh ugh bat credit card ice skates freezing the whole city and no one dies freezing a dog peeing wtf i can go on for so long honestly
batman phantasm was great, no significant complaints sub zero was definately a let down compared to it, but at this time i'd say its like the 3rd best batman movie batman 89 and phantasm beating it mask of the batwoman was pretty much crap i thought some of it was cool, they shouted out to kathy kane before they resurrected her bane was on point more or less in this (everyone loves BTAS) anyway...batman beyond movie was pretty decent too batman vs dracula...screw having dracula come out... at least they didnt do that in a real movie, cartoon ok at least they explained vampires out to be curable, and scientifically explainable or what not to a point...
batman begins lose the kid in the narrows at least the part where he talks to batman no both parts dont give him your gadgets and every line he had was corny and stupid and seemed worthy of an old captain america movie type of comment) the guy with the coat can stay, but i didnt like when batman pulled falcone up and it looked like he was flying, no building above him to use the grapple on... i did NOT like the memory cloth BS or the cape flying stuff maybe he can use his cape as a parachute or something to help slow his fall but not like this...i dont remember memory cloth existing int he comics or real life it looked like lady deathstrike from x men 2 all over again glad they only showed those finger looking claw things that 1 time the tumbler i hated it at first thought it made the movie look stupid to ppl who dont konw batman now i'm used to it but there is NO way that nobody at wayne tech besides fox knew about it fox couldnt have been building it single handedly fox knows he's batman and doesnt say (obviously, for he gave it to wayne the day before, "Does it come in black?" so basically anybody can find out who he is i'm sure police have access to wayne tech's records, of the FBI or whoever can access that stuff i'm sure the FBI would be interested to know who batman is didnt like the whole water to hydrogen thing, thought it was wierd for such a realistic movie when they said it evaporates your enemy's water supply (i thought it meant referring to a perosn, the enemy) and since we are 70% water, i thought it killed ppl but no its just the water supply i guess cause not everyone in gotham is dead and exploded... didnt like it didnt get why they used the name henri ducard, cause in the comics, he is a detective who trained batman on detective aspects and stuff, nothing to do with ras as ghul (i dont think so) i liked how both lliam neeson and kent wantabe both look like ras al ghul big time, just diff portrayals off him. i kind of liked how they included the pearl necklace scene, but made it quick showing it from another perspective, but including it loved most of the fight scenes the first in particular, VERY nice intro to the movie showed bruce wayne, before batman, able to take on like 6 ppl he only gets better form there on, so its believable that he alter drops in and takes out the 20 falcone men scarecrow could've done more, but since he will be in sequal (even if its briefly) that pretty much makes up for it i really think they should've included harvey dent in the first film they could've kept finch in the movie, but had harvey (even in a real small appearence) appear, bump in to rachel or something, be another person who works for the DA's office they killed finch, yes, but it will be all of the sudden harvey taking over, i'm sure a lot of non batman obsessed people wont get the transition or nolan will have to boringly explain it also...when i first saw this movie in the theaters i knew who joe chill was was a big problem i had with the first movie when bruce went to the courthouse to kill joe chill i was very confused at why the lady killed him i get it the 2nd time (falcone says hi) but i found it hard to pick up for a batman newb i kind of hope the next movie has additions to the tumbler, perhaps a fin, and more smoothness also they are definately gonna upgrade the batcave some (they stated at the end of the first one) if this next movie takes place a year later like i've heard... that'll be awsome the joker should already be there, since we saw his card in the other film a year later could start off in the middle of some crazy **** batman will already have been established and i think that they are done with the batman vs the police issue gordan got promoted because of batman, seems people are willing to accept him wayne is in charge of wayne enterprises again, good, got everytyhing set up nice for the sequal, dont have to BS around, more batman! also i didnt like when batman saved rachel gordan says let me get my car batman says i'll take mine and drives right over the police car which was just sitting still he could've easily gone around it i see why they want to hunt him down that was just stupid
The end sorry for rambling (there is a LOT more i could've said) the part about jduge faiden (or wahtever) it was a little quick when he was wayne, he saw the judge at carmine's club and gordan said leverage on jduge faiden (faiten? spelling wrong eitehr way i'm sure) and later down pictures of him to rachel (someone at the DA's office brave enough to presecute) putting all of the pieces together was a little too fast for a batman newb

As far as Begins is concerned:
Katie Holmes acting was all over the place but all in all not the worst ever IMO. Her fake cell phone call was about as bad as she got IMO (and she still didnt really "ruin it"). But the one scene I cant stand is her at the Narrows Bridge towards the end where she pushes her way past the Patrolman... that just cracks me up and and makes me cringe everytime. I think ultimately everything with her jumps out and is so hard to swallow because she was just SO not right for the part to begin with. I cant stand such absurd casting and its doubly frustrating when the choice had nothing to do with "whats best for the movie" and more to satisfy something or someone "behind the scenes".
IMO, the single worst element of Begins IMO has got to be "The Kid"! simply nauseating in every sense on multiple levels. No offense to the poor boy himself... its just something that never shouldve made it to the final cut.... not one frame.

I don't see what the problem is with Katie. I thought she was good. As I said before, the only problem I had with her was that she publicized her relationship with Cruise(my archnemesis) more than Begins.
And I liked the kid too. (I still think he may be Jason Todd.)

(I still think he may be Jason Todd.) well the problem with Kattie at least for me wasnt nearly as much her performance as the fact she was just so horrendously mis-cast. As for the "kid", every frame, every scene and every line is just painful to watch. Bad writing, bad acting, very cliche, and very very deliberately forced upon us and so unnecessarily.

I can excuse the scenes with the Kid because they're pretty insignificant in the overall picture. But holme's wooden acting in most scenes but especially with the Phone for me was the letdown on the Movie i must agree.

Thats what and why I find the scenes so objectionable... because they are SO insignificant and yet SO bad!... why are they there!? Holmes performance is just so distracting. Mainly because its just hillarious and distracting watching her anytime she tries to be stern or "tough" lol.

Dawes: "I am a Gotham City Attorney, LET ME PASS" Cop: "Go home little girl, we got problems here" (that's what it should have been) yikes it's even funny to read that! lol It reminds me of an old Baywatch episode where Pam Anderson (or one of the show's other inept bimbos) was racing to a medical emergency on the beach. Some guy confronts her and offers assistance saying "I'm a Doctor". To which she comands... "well I'm a LIFEGUARD, get outa the way"!
