I was wondering how everybody ranked the Bat-films on a top 5 list. Here's mine:
1. Batman Begins(duh) 2. Batman Forever 3. Batman 4. Batman Returns 5. Batman and Robin(DUH!)
(Now I know what your thinking. Why is Batman Forever over Batman? To me Forever had more action and more Batman. The original just really told the story of the Joker and Michael Keaton does not have the looks for Bruce Wayne, but does have the attitude of Batman. Please don't villain-ize me. ;D)
So how do you rank them?

1. Batman Begins is clearly the winner. A bunch of the scenes just gave you that warm fuzzy feeling, like the big far back shots of Gotham in it's prime, and Gordon talking to young Bruce. Scarecrow had a sceme I hadn't seen before, and yet they stayed true to how the character is always handled. And although there wasn't anything about the Lazurus pits, Ra's still was basically characterized by his opponent not quite knowing his next step. If that's not Ra's Al Ghul, I don't know what is.
2-3. I constantly am shifting between Batman and Batman Forever. Batman Forever seems much more heroic than any of the Batman quadrology. Batman however has the greatest "point A to point B" of all of them. It seems like much has changed in Gotham by the end of the film
4. I don't know why, but it just seems way to silly at times. I don't have the same problem with Batman Forever even though if you think about it, it's a damn goofy movie. I still really enjoy just sitting down and watching it.
5. Batman & Robin just ain't cuttin it.

Before I list them, I want to say that this is just based on my personal feelings towards the films and that my "list" as it were changes all the time. They go up and down in pecking order all the time. 1. Batman Begins - I love this film. I have watch it over and over and it is just great! My only small complaint is the Scarecrow's voice is so hard to understand. maybe I am just going deaf. The one thing that would have really made this film even better would be if the late Hume Cronyn (I think I spelt that wrong) was Alfred. Michael Caine is fantastic as Alfred but every time I see Alfred on the printed page I see Hume Cronyn. Still these are petty nit picks. I love Batman Begins - Fantastic!!!!! 2. Batman Returns - I really thought this film was cool when I saw it at the cinema. It was better that Batman for me for reasons explained later in this post. Really dark and DeVito made a great Penguin (albeit a very re-imagined one) Also I think Max Shreck was such a great, hammy character. Most enjoyable. Oh and Catwoman - Say no more! Meow!!! 3. Batman Forever. I thought Val Kilmer was a good Batman. I thought it was a fun movie and did not take it seriously so I have never been let down by it. It is also very well paced with no awful lulls. Yes Carrey stole the show and Tommy Lee Jones did not get Two Face but as I said before it was a fun movie. Adding Robin was a mistake. 4. Batman. Parts of this film are great but there is just something about it that seems very laboured. I often finding myself willing the film to speed up when I watch it. Not enough Batman, too much origin meddling and Kim Basinger despite never looking better in a film is painful to watch in parts. The whole "Are we going to try and love each other" dialogue is cringe-inducing. I liked Keaton as Bruce/Batman and was sad he did not return for a third but in retrospect I find this a weak introduction to him. 5. Batman and Robin. The Big Gotham Pantomime. I find it hard to be too hard on BAR as my little girl adores this film and we have spent many a happy hour watching it so as a kids film (which is the only way I see it) it is great! Overall, I really do love all of these films and any short-comings they may have are more than tolerated. I also like to think of Batman 66 as the daddy of them all, beyond comparison as it is purely of its age. I love that one too!!

hmmm... lets see.
I think MY list would go:
Batman Begins... Not perfect, but an "A" for effort above and beyond the rest. Batman... Far from a "perfect" Batman movie but a solid effort with unrealized potential. Batman Forever... Like a train getting on the right track but going the wrong way. Batman Returns... Too self serving and "off". Its Burton Returns. Batman and Robin... Too many greedy and ignorant cheffs in the kitchen.

[shadow=purple,left,300] Batman Begins- A solid story, though not as visually appealling (at times) for me. Still, it's the best film of the year for me, and the best in the series. Solid acting and great cast, too. (10/10)
Batman Returns- Perhaps one of the most visually appealling films I've ever seen. This is how I imagine Gotham when I think of it; It had a great plot though the Penguin was too garish at times. (9/10)
Batman- Definitely a great film, though I'm a bit upset at how they made the Joker kill Bruce's parents. It's never good to mess up continuity; Despite that flaw, it was relatively enjoyable. Jack Nicholson made a great Joker. (9/10)
Batman Forever- Neon, nipples and narcicism. I used to like this film, but I just recently watched it and almost couldn't stand it. Too many puns, a lot of over-the-top performances (Carrey, Jones), and an old Robin destroyed this for me. And again, they messed up continuity by having Two-Face kill Dick's parents. But, Val Kilmer and Nicole Kidman made up for a lot of it's flaws. (6/10)
Batman and Robin- Not getting into it. (3/10)[/shadow]

I have gave this a great deal of thought and to makea truly accurate depiction of my feelings Ill have to wait until Begins comes out on DVD and watch it and *( back to back but heres how it is now Batman:Excellent the way Joker and the Underworld were intertwined and Nicholson just excelled as the Joker he had him down and any future Jokers better pay heed here.Keaton I thought had the bumbling billionaire down pat abd was EXCELLENT as Batman Begins:truly marvelous from start to finish.was relatively hurt for me by the lack of Crow villiany and ultiamately the villian choices. It all makes sense now but I am waiting with baited breath for Mr J in the sequel Mask of The Phantasm: Excellent.loved the Joker in this and its filled with classic bats/joker interaction-simple filmaking at its best Returns:I always thought Devito and peiffer were good but I love the whuppins Bats lays on the clowns in this movie.plus the Batmissile was awesome and I liked the Penguins origin too Forever:and I dont care what anyone says Carrey was a GREAT Riddler and the movie was let down by 2 Face and too much Kilmer Pouting.

Here we go: Batman Begins - Utterly masterful Batman movie, film, and Batman story. From the excellent plot, to the superb character development, to the awe-inspiring depiction of Batman, I always knew this film would be a winner, and with me, it absolutely did not dissappoint. Batman - Always great fun for me to watch, this film may not be the definitive Bat-film to me that Begins is, but I find it highly enjoyable, and I think Burton's Gotham City is quite cool. Nicholson's Joker is very interesting, and Keaton's bats isn't too bad. Batman Returns - Also enjoyable for me, I liked Burton's Penguin better than the usual depiction of the character; I've always thought of Penguin as kind of a lame villain, but I thought this Penguin was rather menacing. Batman Forever - Okay, too Shumacher-ish, tho. Far from what I look for in a Bat-film, altho the director's cut will probably be a lot better. Batman and Robin

1. Batman Begins: for all the obvious reason, the only thing I was disappointed by was Scarecrow's minor role. He is my 3rd fave villian and he was kinda knocked into the background.
2.Batman Returns: Two words. Cat. Woman. keaton was good but Pfeiffer made the movie.
3. Batman
4. Batman Forever: I don't think Val Kilmer was a good Batman he was too... wishy-washy and he had a pointy chin (yes Bale's is not square but it's strong, it's a Batman chin, lol). This is also when the "neon Gotham" was started and I hated it. That really isn't the feel that everyone (I) would asscociate with Gotham. The vintage 40's look is what was started in Batman and they brought it back in a different way in Begins.
5. Batman and Robin: I won't even start

Batman & Robin Batman Returns Batman Forever Batman '89 Batman Begins
only joking, my list is actually upside down.
there are a few things I'm unsure/not totally happy about in Begins, so its sort of in joint 1st place with Batman '89.
Keaton was good as both Bruce and Bats, but I certainly don't think he was the definitive portrayal of him, and don't automatically dismiss any other actor and say "He isn't/won't be as good as Keaton".
I don't find it believable that a man as old as Joker/Nicholson could go toe-to-toe with Keaton/Bats. there must be at least 10 year difference.
I didn't really like Returns that much, there wasn't much of a plot for the villains, they didn't really want to do anything apart from destroy Batman.
I think Forever is better than Returns, or certainly more watchable IMO. Returns seems to drag on a little.
B & R was rubbish, I can't believe, to this very day, that no-one butted in and told Joel that what they were filming was utter crap.
