Martin Short for Mad Hatter? That would be freaking awesome . He looks like him, talks like him, and kind of acts like him too. Now I really want to see a sequel with him as MH.

Obviously: Batman/Bruce Wayne: Christian Bale Alfred Pennyworth: Michael Caine (although if I were in charge of BB, I would've cast Ben Kingsley) James W. Gordon: Gary Oldman Rachel Dawes (if returning): Katie Holmes (if she absolutely positively needs to be recast, however, do to "quitting acting" I'd go with Rachel Weisz) Ra's Al Ghul: Liam Neeson Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow: Cillian Murphy
My personal choices:
The Joker: Paul Bettany
D.A. Harvey Dent/Two-Face: Rufus Sewell
Black Mask/Roman Sionis: Edward Norton

I think Edward Norton could pull off about any of the male parts on here. He is a very talented actor. I think if you gave him enough prosthetic, you could even make him into a good Penguin. Of course, that would be a waste of a great actor. He could do a good Black Mask or Riddler. I think that he would make an extraordinary Riddler.

[shadow=purple,left,300] Crispin Glover as the Joker Liev Schreiber as Two-Face Philip Seymour Hoffman as Penguin Ben Kinglsey or Ed Harris as Mr. Freeze Hugh Laurie or Jude Law as the Riddler Thora Birch as Poison Ivy (not sure?) Carrie-Ann Moss as Catwoman (again, not sure) Ron Pearlman as Killer Croc John Goodman or James Gandolfini as Bullock Rosario Dawson as Montoya
I'm not the best casting agent. [/shadow]

Kate Beckinsale? Could work...I really loved Rachel in The Constant Gardener which led me to that choice. I think Angelina's too old to play the part

Here's a quote from Christopher Nolan's interview in the introduction the the published screenplay for 'Batman Begins':
"The philosophy behind everything....was grounding it in reality. With great actors, that naturally manifests itself in a more realistic, naturalistic and low-key style."
Note that description of the desired actors: naturalistic and low-key. Quick show of hands, how many people think that either Johnny Depp or Chrispin Glover (or Angelina Jolie, for that matter) meets that standard? They might be fine actors, but I think they'd be distracting and, ultimately, ineffective.
As I've theorized before, WB probably thinks they need star power for a good opening, but this time around they won't. Word of mouth from home video will be so strong that even if it's chalked full of nobodies, the sequel to 'Batman Begins' will open with at least $75 mil. The strong legs of the first movie are proof that if you have a quality product, more often than not, things will turn out well in the end.
So I think they should follow the same philosophies for this one as they did for the last and stay away from the gaudy superstars.

The actors that don't behave like "movie stars" are far more desirable. They seem to somehow fly below that radar in many ways. People know who they are...but they're not gawdy superstars.

I would respectfully disagree with the comment Nolan made of saying Johnny Depp is a fine actor, I think that Johnny Depp is an extra extraordinary, brilliant, genius of an actor, who goes above and beyond when doing a role and I think that he would do the best Joker EVER. Now I see what Nolan is saying about any big name playing a role of this calibur, and how it would take away from the actual character, but I think somehow, someway, Johnny Depp is the only guy that could make you only see The Joker when on film and forget that you are looking at Johnny Depp.

I'd actually like to see more of Crispin Glover than Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp can be a man of many faces and taking on the role of Joker wouldn't be any different, but c'mon, these days its always the same stars, let's see someone new (or old for that matter) reappear on the screen. I don't want Angelina Jolie as Talia. She's a 'mediocre' actress in my book but I think that Rachel Weisz would make a better choice. There's something about her I just innocently admire...She's a talented actress (if you take out her roles in THe Mummy and The Mummy 2) and she has a more fresh look.

[shadow=purple,left,300]I'll put it this way: Batman Begins was great without "major" players. Crispin Glover, to me, doesn't seem all that big. Not many people think of him as A-list material. Quite frankly, I don't think I can name five Crispin Glover movies off the top of my head. Maybe that means I'm ignorant of his work or I missed out on when he was big news. So he's my top choice. Johnny Depp isn't a bad choice by any means, either, though he's at the bottom of my list. If WB wants a big name star, for whatever reason, I could see Depp faithfully portraying the role. The best actor should be selected, and I think WB will make the best decision. They're smarter this time around.[/shadow]

He's a master of disguise, Depp is. Every movie I see him in, he's got a new look. Glover's my top choice, but if he doesn't get the part, Adrian Brody and Johnny Depp are my runner-up Jokers.

I mean the make up from alexander made her look old..yes both are preggers....I have a strong feeling it will be someone else playing talia...another rumour is sophia verga, penelope cruz, monica belluci would be great but shes kinda old.

Don't know Sophia Verga (too lazy to check IMDB), Penelope Cruz couldn't really pass for Liam Neeson's daughter and I don't think has the sort of internal fanaticism needed for the role, and Monica Bellucci, who I think is the, ya know, sexiest woman of all time, always seems to be punching the clock in sci-fi roles. She lacks either the desire and (or) the will to really put herself in a totally fictitious world and play with it.
I'd go with Eva Green or Rachel Weisz. Some woman who seems to be a little bit torn up inside.

For Talia I wouldn't mind seeing Rachel Weiss, I think she is a solid choice, or perhaps even Kate Beckinsale.
As for The Joker I wonder if they want a big name star to match what Jack Nicholson did with his portrayal of The Joker, fearing that if they can't atleast match Jack's Joker alot of fans will be disappointed with it, and get po'd or something.
My first choice was Crispin Glover for The Joker, and Johnny Depp was always on the back of my mind, but I thought, no way Depp is too big for that role and wouldn't do it, but after hearing rumors I got pumped, but here are my 3 picks for Joker (in no order):
1. Crispin Glover 2. Johnny Depp 3. John Turturro
