Hey thats great news, although I dont know if Id consider KMR's Joker as "unique" I mean KMR is a great voice actor (Ive heard him in everything from The Batman to Clerks: The Animated Series) but his Joker by the end of season one sounds close to Mark Hammil's Joker, or basicly a deeper version of Hammil's Joker, not that there's anything wrong with that.

CONGRATS to the creative team! That's quite the accomplishment - it impresses me anyway! Hopefully more people will take a look at the show as a result.

[shadow=green,left,300]Thanks for the very polite and well express opinions TAS. Please note this rant is not directed towards yourself. Fans went into this show complaining. Why? Because it wasn't a timm/dini creation. timm/dini, believe it or not, don't have the only right to make a batman cartoon. they made a damn fine one, but its time is long past. Its been over half a decade. Let 'er go. I realize that there are those fans here that don't know much about batman pre-90s, but most of us that do have an appreciation for the Batman, because it harks back to a different era you don't get to see much anyone in Batman......fun. Oh and just for the record, Batman DOES smile in BTAS on occasion. At first complaints were that the show wasn't enuf like BTAS..then, when they try to pay homage and incorporate things for the fans, they're ripping off btas. KMR took the amazing work of Mark Hammil and blended it with his own voice talent. He's paying a great homage and yet putting his own twist on an iconic villian. I think he's played it right...obviously by the Emmy nod I'm not the only one. (fyi Hammil wasn't interested in playing the joker anymore, so no one has room to complain that he wasn't cast on The Batman) sorry for ranting gang. lol. and major congrats to ALL involved on The Batman...and hella congrats to Kevin Michael Richardson. KMR has a rich history of batman voice artistry..and its great to have him on the show.[/shadow]

Yeah I know all that and Im one of those few that understand adaptions, ie I know when a new superhero form of media comes out its that persons/groups version of that character/group, its supposed to be diffrient, its supposed to be reinvented, etc, etc, like how the Ultimate comics are with Marvel.
Im also one of those few that likes the revamped stuff, notably the cartoons like The Batman, X-Men: Evolution, and Spider-Man: The New Animated Series (MTV)
Now about KMR, I like the fact that he's impersonating MH's Joker, cause thats defenitly the best the Joker has ever sounded (same with Kevin Conroy as Batman) but I dont mind the change as long as it fits the character.
I do have problems with The Batman though, just like everything I like, cause nothing is perfect, for instance... ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1) That freaking tumor that is sticking out the side of Bruce Wayne's face/head. I dont understand what Jeff was doing when he came up with that, it looks terrible/ugly, I mean Jeff's style uses mostly straight lines and whatever and that part of Bruce Wayne seems outta style for Jeff's style (like I never saw anything like that on Jackie Chan Adventures) and the other thing is that Batman's head dosnt do that, so why should Bruce Wayne's? Plus Bruce is really the only character in the show animation wise that has that problem.
2) Im liking the voice cast, except I dont think Tom Kenny (The Penguin) is being used to the best of his ability. I guess he's trying to sound like The Penguin from the Adam West series, but I think he could do more with it (maybe add an accent to it or something)
3) Speaking of Penguin, that reminds me about something concerning the pace of Season 1, or an episode in paticular, the 2nd Penguin episode, in many ways it was exactly like the first ep he was in, and him coming back to just seemed too soon/forced when they couldve used another villian for that ep. The Joker coming back at the end of the season was fine since he was in the first ep and came back quite a bit diffriently (and to a lead up to what was probaly the best story of season 1, the finale)
4) Design. For the most part its fine, theres just somethings that seem at of place in terms of technology. Gotham has always had this 1930s NY design in basicly every form of Batman, and the only thing ever advanced in it is basicly Batman's stuff (gadgets, etc) but yet it still fits with the overall design (in the comics, the dini/paul series, etc) but in this show there are a few things that dont match up. Number one would have to be the Bat-Wave its looks extremely outttaplace, and dosnt match up (maybe it should look more like the Bat-Signal and have the yellow backround behind the emblem flashing) and the Batmobile dosnt match up at certain times, for the most part its fine, although the thrusters just dont look right on it, and it looks really odd at times moving around thanks to it being cel-shaded, ie its a 3D model, and looks good some of the times, but bad at other times. Really its just the Bat-Wave and the thrusters on the batmobile that stand out the most.
5) The finale eps are written better then any of the other eps, which isnt a problem, its just more eps need to be written that are that good and it was really the only character developed story they did (Dini's stuff was always known as being mostly character developed while the action took a backseat, and the finale kinda reminded me of that, and thats not to say the show needs more of BTAS series feel, it just needs more of that better writting)
Rino Ramono (Bruce/Batman) said in an interview that even he'd like to see more character developed/focused stories, since the first season really didnt have any, but he said he guessed that the first and second season would be used to establish all the characters, then the seasons after that would be used to develop the chars more (except you can introduce and develop the characters alot at the sametime, they did it with the season 1 finale)
6) The Joker is too hulking, and hunched backed. His design is cool but he should be a bit slimmer and upright. Also his design has quite a bit of detail from the waist up, but from the waist down its just nothing and very plain, which seems odd given all the detail in his upperhalf. I do like how by the end of Season 1 Joker's outfit now looks a little more traditional, except for the fact that its so bland in design compared to the straight jacket.
Look, Jeff's Joker + DC's Joker =
ttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v191/TAS_4287/The%20Batman/JokerColor.jpg
(I basicly just fixed whatever problems I had with Jeff's Joker) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Its just little things really. I love the show (and the figures even though I dont have any yet) but those are the problems Ive had with it so far.
Id actually love to work on stuff for the show designing or writting stuff (same goes with the toys too Id love working on/with those) cause doing that stuff comes easy to me (which youll see the next time I update my fan art thread)

[shadow=purple,left,300]Congrats to Matsuda and the team on their Daytime Emmy nods!
As for "The Batman" in general... I know it's made a good impact when one of my 17 year old friends, who has no Batman bias whatsoever, says he likes this show more than "B:TAS." I think this show is more fun than "B:TAS." We've seen that universe. I'm ready for something different! The writing is choppy, but a lot of shows are in their first season or two. And the designs are unconventional, but I'm tired of seeing the same old designs and characterization in every Batman incarnation. That's why I'm a fan of Tim Sale's work in the comics, because it isn't the same old art style.
But people who dislike the show, or certain qualities, are certainly allowed to have their opinion. I don't agree with everything in the show, either.[/shadow]

It's really cool to see that they got nominated, in a bizarre stroke of luck, I may end up being there. Seeing that Im 99% sure that these awards are given in a seperate ceremony before the televised EMMYS, and I have a reason to be at this one.
