i just scored this sonar batarang kit from a fellow prop builder and i'm pretty happy w/it... it's a relatively clean casting (although it does need to be sanded down and filled-in in a couple of places)... there's a pivot-joint in the middle that allows the batarang to swing open or closed... after i get it all cleaned and patched up i'm planning on having it chrome-plated instead of just painted... hopefully this works out and i end up w/a mean-looking, chrome-plated, pivot-swinging, SONAR BATARANG! WOO HOO! here're a couple pics: it should be a lot of fun to build up and a killer addition to my collection! needless to say, i'm pretty excited!

That's really a nice piece there Kid. You could easily make some $$ for a copy from a number of people here I'd imagine...

If you ever make a copy drop me a line, that is so much cooler than the replicas that I've seen go for so much money. Congratulations, on owning that awesome piece, I'm jealous, as many readers here are now. Post pics when it gets chrome plated.
By the way, is it from a movie or what? I mean do you know it's origins? It sounds like it's the one from Batman Forever close to the end of the movie when he gives The Riddler the "bat" riddle. Anyways, boy that is so cool. Too bad there isn't a posting video to see it open!

i'm glad you all like what you see... i wouldn't mind having a mold made from it, i just don't know how to do that... if anyone can help me out, shoot me a line! i'd be happy to cast more for fellow LOG members... so far it's given my two custom batarangs serious inferiority complexes... ;D

That's very cool. I always wanted an arsenal wall like Batman has in the Batcave to display. That will look great, say where did you get it?
Was it custom made or was it commercially available somewhere?

Was it custom made or was it commercially available somewhere? i'm not sure where the original mold came from, but i'm fairly certain it wasn' t commercially available... i got this piece through a member of RPF... i was lucky enough to see his 'for sale' post shortly after he posted... i'll ask him if he can get more... if not, hopefully someone here can help me w/the mold...

I didn't really have any info spec wise. But I found some photos of a very similar batarang you might recognize. I really don't know the website name or anything, but here's a link to the website I found the photos at. There's some more props and stuff, mostly Batman Forever. assall.de/movie-prop/batman/index_bat.htm

man, that dude has a lot of REALLY cool pieces... my batarang looks just like the 3rd pic you posted default... i wonder if they were cast from the same mold... here's an auction i found on ebay: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=60360&item=3818614301&rd=1the auction itself seems really for a number of reasons (seller stats, poor description, etc), but the piece in the picture looks really nice... that'd be amazing if it really were solid aluminum and an original (either made for the movie or pulled from the same molds)... but the guy didn't even show a COA of any kind or describe it's origin so i doubt he owned the batarang in the first place... i'm suprised ppl were willing to bid so high despite all the ...
