[shadow=green,left,300]Thanks to Todd for taking time out of his busy life to interact with his many fans! here at LoG![/shadow]

---------------------------------------------
LoG:
Do you consider yourself a DC/Batman/Titans fan? Have you in the past or do you currently read any of the comics?
Todd Nauck:
YES!!! I started reading DC comics in the mid 80's when I got a hold of
a bunch of New Teen Titans and Crisis comics. I really got in to the DCU with the Giffen/DeMatties run on JLA. I read about half of the DCU. My favorites are JSA, Teen Titans, Outsiders, Birds of Prey, Flash, Superman / Batman, and Robin. To name a few.
-------------------------------------------
LoG:
You've got an impressive amount of Lego customs on your site. How did you get into doing that? Admit it...are you a fanboy?
Todd Nauck:
I saw someone's site of custom Legos and it looked like fun so I gave it a try. I was hooked. I need to get the rest of my collection up on to www.toddnauck.com. I've pretty much finished YJ, JSA, and the JLA. My
Mystery Science Theater 3000 figures and sets are my favorite pieces.
And, yes. I'm still a fanboy.
-------------------------------------------
LoG:
How did you come to work on Teen Titans Go! ?
Todd Nauck:
The Young Justice associate editor was given TTG. Since he and I had worked together for probably over three years, he knew what I was capable of and gave me first crack at it. I agreed to do the first two issues, then I had
to finish WildGuard: Casting Call. When I came back for TTG#6, they just kept sending me issues to draw.
-------------------------------------------
LoG: Did you attend any art school? Any advice for aspiring comic artists?
Todd Nauck:
I attended the Art Institute of Dallas graduating in 1992. I studied
commercial art and graphic design. They didn't have an animation
program
back then.
My advice to aspiring artists: Draw every day. Practice is key. Get critiques and work on weak areas. Learn perspective and don't skimp on the backgrounds. And did I mention drawing every day?
-------------------------------------------
We like to promote interaction with the industry on
our forum. In that spirit, we have a few questions from your dedicated fans.
-------------------------------------------
from Roback:
Todd, do you miss working on Young Justice? During its
run it was one of my favorite titles as both your artwork and the story meshed perfectly together. While your here I would like to ask you your thoughts on where the industry is headed as a whole and what the effect on Crossgens demise had on the future of this great medium. WE here at the LOG are thrilled to have this oppurtunity and believe me when I say that I am a huge fan of your work. Thanks so much for taking
the time to answer all of our questions.
Todd Nauck:
Roback, that's an interseting question. I was saddened by the
cancellation of YJ, definitely. I still miss YJ in a small way. WildGuard is so much fun for me, though, I don't think too much about the past. I would love to do an
issue of Teen Titans just to get a chance to draw the kids in action again. Thanks for the kind words.
-------------------------------------------
from Faithfulbutler:
How do you find separating TT Go! from your previous
Young Justice work? I mean it's a whole new series with new art stylings, do you find it difficult not referring back to your YJ days or have you found a new fresh approach to how you picture and translate such similar characters?
Todd Nauck:
Faithbuilder, I don't find it difficult at all to draw in the animated
style over my traditional style. Having the cartoon as reference makes it pretty easy. It's almost like I just have to drop out all the little details and make the shapes much more simple... And then I have TTG!
Thanks for the question!
-------------------------------------------
from reideen1313:
I have every issue of Young Justice! I'd like to know if there was anything that you had in store for the characters - any costume changes, evolutions, etc - that you didn't get to see happen due to the cancellation of the book?
Also, please pass along my thanks for his work on such a fine book!!
Todd Nauck:
reideen1313, thanks for picking up YJ's entire run. Glad you enjoyed
them. Peter David and I found out about YJ's end about six months before it happened. So we had time to wrap up most of what we started and knew not to
get anything new going we really couldn't finish.
There were no costume changes planned or additions to the team in the wings when we found out YJ was gonna become the Teen Titans. We wanted to take care of the Secret's story and leave Geoff and Mike
with Robin, Superboy, Impulse, and Wonder Girl.
-------------------------------------------
.....and what did Mr. Nauck have to say about LoG?
Wow! This is an incredible site. Chock full o' all the Bat-info one could hope for. I'm adding it to my list of favorites!
