so i just started working w/sheet styrene and of course the first thing i decided to make was a custom batarang... i made a quick template in illustrator then used that as a guide for the rough shape... i still have quite a bit more sanding and shaping to do before i paint it up, but i figured i'd show my progress to the board... any suggestions/comments/critics/etc would be appreciated!

thanks for the comments guys!
i'm still trying to decide what color to paint it... of course the first choice that comes to mind is black, but i might try something like a dark metallic blue or grey... i'll definately be making more batarangs in the future (i've already got 2 more designs to try out), so i guess i have room to experiment... hopefully i can get this one finished up over the weekend then post pics here by next week...

i'm glad you all like what you see so far! thanks for letting me know what you think! i didn't get the batarang painted up as planned this weekend, but i did make up this second design... it's the more traditional bat-symbol-batarang... for future variations on this i'm thinking of 1) adding a small box of sorts to the middle with a blinking red LED or something... this would be a batarang-bomb 2) widening the 'tail' and threading a rope/cable through = batarang-rope... i just need to even up some points, but the basic shape is there: i used styrene for this batarang as well... i decided to try out a slightly thicker board (1/8" i think)... styrene is basically like a hard plastic material that's widely used for modeling... it's a great material b/c it's cheap and relatively easy to work with!

These are awesome, I 'd buy a set if you ever wanted to sell. You could always paint them in the silver type paint. Just a sugestion. Anyways, they are awesome work.

Man...looks like perfection to me...either with or without the paint... Silver or Mettalic Blue would give it a cool edge, I agree.
I like your sig too, KidL~

I like the first one an awful lot. It looks like it could really be used as a weapon, unlike some more "traditional" batarangs, which just look like bats and I can't imagine owuld be very effective.
Wow, that was the convoluted sentence from hell.
