Hi folks, I'm just finishing up a few projects before my show this weekend. That means more for you folks to see! (With more to come soon.) Tonight I present my version of the Batcave Robin Memorial. Makes a great prop for the shelf. Enjoy! Casimir Inanimate Objects! www.pilliod.net

Aw, shucks. Thanks Peev34. Of course, I left out the part about the drill popping out part of the remaining legs and having to "rebuild" part of the, er, um, crotch.

That is cool! I wish I had the skill and/or guts to do that to a DCD Robin. Great job. PJ

Hey thanks, PJ. Really, it's not tooo hard. It's just making that first incision that's tough. After that, the figure is essential "ruined" anyway, so you might as well finish it.
By the way, I meant to tell you I tried altering a Hush Bats as you did, regarding the leg. Mine reverted to form within a couple of hours. The reason I think of this now is the tongs I used to hold him in boiling water left a mark on his chest. Now he's battle damaged! Point is, once he was marked up, I had no problem repainting him in the black shades. Sort of like the first scratch on a new car.

Mines still holding at the point that I heated and twisted his leg at...although his lower leg did move slightly out...but I didn't really heat the lover leg. I don't boil figures anymore I use a hair dryer, because once I went to boil a TJ Green Lantern and everything seemed to work find until I went to cool him off and his leg bubbled up and snapped off! I don't know what I did wrong to cause the plastic to do that, but I said I'll never boil a figure again. Somewhere in this house is a GL missing his leg at the mid calf. PJ

PJ,
Sorry to hear of your boiling blues. I get nervous when boiling sometimes, but rarely had anything tragic happen. Most times everything will be resculpted and painted anyway. I did notice that when boiling Hasbro animated Talias the purple of the torso actually changes color when boiled. If it's not to be repainted, that would be a bad thing. So I sometimes worry I'll get unexpected color changes.

excellent work casimir... i just saw iron-cow's custom robin memorial and didn't think anyone could come close to matching it until i saw yours! it's just as amazing and i also dig the square display case you went with...
i mentioned this to iron-cow as well, but have you thought about adding an LED or two? it'd be interesting to see the memorial as a functioning, self-lit display case... just a thought...
great work!

Hey Kid L,
Thanks for the compliments! I'm glad you like the memorial.
I chose the square case specifically becuase I prefer it over the round. It changes by artist, of course, but the square sticks out in my mind as the most common. I also made sure to keep the gloves, and mounted everything in such a way that I didn't ruin the cape. (Might have a need for it later.)
An added light might be a neat effect, but it's a lot of effort for little use. I've had something similar in the past. I turned the light on about once a year and said "See friends, it lights up!" And the rest of the time it sits there. But never say never. I might add something later. For the moment, I have other projects calling my name... Thanks for the input, though!
Best,
Casimir

That thing is so cool, I've always wanted one, and that one looks like it jumped right off the pages of Batman! I wish I was good enough to do one of those and I'd make myself! Great job!

Thanks, Default. This project really isn't to difficult. The hardest thing is making that first cut into an expensive DCD figure!

And the rest of the time it sits there. hahahaha... i guess that's true... i have a few hero/functioning props and most of the time they're just on display... but man, those times i do take them down to start them up... whew... it's awesome!
