yeeees, I should pretty much frighten everyone off the board with that subject line..... Just pretend it's Halloween. heh.
Is there anything out there anywhere on the web? I've tried doing different searches looking for some, and have found pretty much nothing. Please don't give me the tired old lines of who in their right mind would touch Forever with a 20-foot pencil---I've heard it all before. Yes, I know I've got weird taste, blah blah blah. At least I'm not asking about B&R. I'm a member of a val kilmer yahoo group (at least i *think* it's a yahoo group) and I'm asking there, but even that's pretty quiet on this movie, and forget fanfic. Am I really alone? seriously? I'm the only one doing fanfic on this movie? really? out of the zillions of people posting stuff on the world wide web? please, only semi-serious responses, here, because I've heard it all before in regard to people's general opinions on this movie.

I liked Batman Forever. You aren't alone. And yes, B&R was a completely horrible pile of garbage.

i not only thought b&r was garbage, i'm one of the few people who only saw it once, at all, ever, completely, and it was in the theater. i didn't go back to watch it again to see if it really was as bad as I thought, I have not purchased the video to see if it really was that bad---my interest in it is flat line. sorry---I mention this because I was on a batman section of another board for a bit, and it was positively suspicious the number of people who would show up and say, "yeah, i bought b&r today and put it in my player and watched to see if it really was as bad as I remember." what, do you think they're going to do a remake of it? *rant over* sigh. thanks, though. not saying I loved everything about the movie (forever), and in fact in my fanfic, i ditch Every Single Colorfully Costumed Villain into the ...well, ditch. except for michelle pfeiffer. she was good, she can stay. but my batman isn't going to waste two seconds on someone who would take the time to sew 226 question marks onto a leotard. bleah. I bought a book on forensics. that's my batman!

ok, um, well, then I'm going to...uh....*cough* play with myself! er.....
i've got, like.....boy, can I count that high?.....i've got one story on the Lois and Clark fanfic boards that can be summed up as "Hello, I'm Superman." "Hello, I'm Batman." i'm rewriting the ending, though. another one where he takes off the mask and wears another face and helps a cop who is undercover in a gang called Red Mace, but THAT one might end up as flashbacks in a monter long one that answers the question, "What if the mask was pulled off? no ifs, ands, or buts? no strings attached? no alternate universe? everyone found out who he is?" dunno..... another one, a shortie, about how the keatonmobile got stolen by two characters in an episode of lois and clark---or rather, what REALLY happened, and how it gets resolved. another one.....hm......oh yeah, what if BW was suddenly plopped down into a normal life, his parents are still alive, he's married with a couple of kids, and no batman? there might be another one, but i'm blanking at the moment..... i've gotta get myself a website, really. truly. i'm a lone weirdo.

hi again! like the duck. not a rewrite of forever (though it's crossed my mind, but I can't do those over the top villains). just playing with.......hm....actually, come to think of it, not a lot at all from forever! just the cast of VK in the role, Nicole K as chase.....i guess chris O'd in his role, but I don't think i've written----oh, no, yes I have. i have written a scene or two with robin/dick. i take michael gough as alfred but i turn back the clock about 20 yrs. by the time he filmed forever, his gait (walking) was affected, he was so old. but no neon lights for gotham. I more or less keep the car, but even that's starting to morph in my mind a bit. so....hm....come to think of it......actually very little from the movie! < pay no attention to me, i'm just talking to myself. but if this is supposed to be a fanfic gallery as well, where's the fanfic? do people post links to their stories like they post links to their drawings/manipulated images? just wondering....

hmmm.... well, here's me, playing with myself again! ;D I guess the monster big story I've been working on is the one where he's forced to reveal himself. I was just wondering.... outa curiosity, what do you think would happen if he was forced to pull off the mask? what would alfred think? what would happen at his business? what about the media? how do you think they'd respond? would he then stop "doing" batman? or would bruce wayne disappear and batman remain? would he leave gotham and hide out on the same island in the bermuda triangle with Elvis and Princess Di? (so to speak! ) or would he try to do business as usual? what would gordon think if he found out that batman is the billionaire coverboy? would he be relieved that he wasn't hiding an FBI most wanted? or angry that this "coverboy" fooled him? what would robin think? enquiring minds want to know! I just wonder what people think would happen. I've already got my storyline done, if not the whole thing written, so I can't say "I'll write it as you want it!", but... I'm just curious. yeah, morbid topic, but....

hm. i guess it would depend on how youre handling him in your story. is Batman the vigilante that is persued by the police? or is he accepted? what circumstances has brought Bruce to the point where his identity is about to be exposed? id think that if his identity as Batman was revealed it would completely wreck Bruce. almost on the verge of a breakdown knowing that he can no longer fully utlilize his "ability to strike fear into criminals" because by him being exposed it kind of "humanizes" the Batman persona.

hm...... vigilante vs accepted..... my batman walks the line on that. there is one short scene, already written, where gordon tells his night people that they're going to start seeing some "black jazz" on the streets again, but he tells them "don't be reaching for your weapons" if they see something that looks like batman. some police shoot at him, but it's rare. In another story I wrote an argument between him and a cop where the cop was undercover in a gang, working on busting it. bruce was in another disguise, not batman, but more of a scary harley thing, and they argued---the cop wanted batman to "butt out" of his operation, because he said that batman seems to get all the credit when something big happens. so the relationship between him and the GCPD is not always friendly, but he'll take bullets for a cop, if he has to. what leads to his ID being exposed....complicated! boy... and I still haven't worked out details, but here's some of the generals. he got hurt badly in a fluke accident, large abdominal laceration, and the paramedics removed the mask in order to intubate him---they thought they had a fake (t was around halloween). he actually was in OR in a hospital, going through some major surgery. they saw the face, and recognized bruce wayne. patient confidentiality should take care of that, but that's a wild secret to not gossip about. there was also a laptop computer stolen out of the back of the ambulance he arrived in, and it had some info on it. later, though, about a month later, this and some other events I'm still working on combine to force him to pull it off formally, in front of the media. no cool, collected, prepared speeches---he pretty much just collapsed and started scream-crying. chase meridian was there, and she told godon he was finally mourning his parents---he never could before, and this pushed him to it. so you think it'd wreck him? I kinda do too. I think he needs both sides of his personality, but especially batman, to stay sane (if ya call that sane!). I don't play bruce as a complete twit----I play him as an astute businessman---but Batman is still more of who he really is, and having that taken away would pretty much put him in the looney bin. yeah! humanizing! that's what it does. it does take the edge off when they know it's a normal human male doing these things. the scene in Begins where they're at the pier and Falcone is about to be nailed has THE PERFECT batman moment, to me----when you see one thug on watch, and you hear a crunch and he vanishes---that's my batman!!!!! and when they find he's a normal human---it does take the edge off. but I think there's also "feedback" of sorts----ok, they know it's bruce wayne, so they expect .....well, bruce wayne in a mask. but if he's still able to "perform" as batman, that might in a way make him seem creepier to them. I dunno if that's too much thinking there... if people are interested, I could try posting a short scene from the story to see the writing style. It's quite different from what I've seen here on this board. I'll try to find a SHORT scene. it's very interesting to me that people on this board don't collectively hate Forever. most other places seem to, but...... cool. I'm not saying I loved everything about it, but.... the character of bruce wayne caught my imagination in this one, for some reason. i gotta shuddup......

alright....as threatened---I mean, as promised in my vent thread over in the rambling area..... a bit of the GOLDEN FILE that I lost. The only reason I was able to salvage this bit is because I was so proud of it, I emailed it to my sister to read. so this bit i had. and I guess if I had to name a bit I wanted to keep from the whole file, i would pick this part, but dammit, I want the rest of it! ok. *wipes eyes* I talked a bit about this story in a previous post---I wondered what would happen if his mask were removed. this story is the result. a couple of things to know before you read this scene: ----cast, more or less in order of appearance, is Val Kilmer as Bruce Wayne (minus any nipples or neon, of course). Michael Gough as Alfred, though somewhat younger than he was in even the first batman movie. and .....don't hurt me...... Dean Cain as Superman/Clark Kent. ---about a month ago, Batman sustained an ugly injury--sliced across the middle with a giant industrial blade (referred to in this scene). The paramedics thought they had a fake and removed the mask in order to get him oxygen, and took him to the hospital. ----There was also a laptop stolen out of the ambulance he arrived at the hospital in. ---he's more or less recovered physically now, but this and some other events (still being worked out) are what's forcing him (he thinks) to pull off the mask. among other things, a few winos and idiots trying to impersonate batman, and the mob, etc taking shots at these people. that's bruce's reference to people taking his bullets. ---he is subtly suicidal in this scene---the way he's thinking when he comes in the room.....that's got suicidal vibes. ---in an earlier story I wrote, batman/bruce and superman/clark met, so there is a little past history. alfred doesn't know that superman is the same guy who interviewed his boss a few yrs ago. ---yes, bruce is under a lot of pressure, hence his....less than wise response to clark's offer. o well. i *think* that's all ya need to know before reading..... i'll post it in smaller chunks to avoid straining eyes. lemme know what you think. er....edit..... "giant" industrial blade.... what I mean is a blade from an industrial paper cutter, a guillotine style blade. they're about 40-45 inches long, if I remember right, and weigh about 30 or so pounds. solid steel. i used to work in a printing plant.

alrightey.. here goes..... batman made the announcement, through gordon, about 36 hours ago that he would pull off the mask. so in this scene, the unmasking is about 24 or so hours away. a security alert has been tripped at the manor, and bruce and alfred are hunting it down. bruce hears a tapping or popping sound from down the hallway.....
part 1/4
He approached the room cautiously, briefly wishing that he had at least the body armor in place, if not the mask. Alfred started to follow him into the room, but Bruce stopped him.
"No. Wait. This could be trouble."
"Yes, sir," Alfred said urgently, his tone of voice saying that is why I should be coming with you!
"Alfred...."
With a sigh, Alfred stopped, frustrated. He waited at the threshold while Bruce entered the room. It was the west sitting room, facing the sea, and the sound was definitely coming from that room, one of the windows. There was a Tiffany lamp sitting on a desk in the room, and he stepped over to it and turned it on. He waited a few moments, listening, and the periodic tink sounds didn't change with the addition of the light. Now that he was in the room, it sounded very much like someone was throwing small pieces of gravel, or twigs, against one of the three windows in the room. He slowly paced closer. The windows had infrared sensors mounted on the outside, so any body larger than a squirrel would trip the alarm. He also knew there were two large elm trees on that side of the manor, close enough for someone to sit in and throw something to get attention, and then when curiosity brought the target into the room....
He approached the middle window. If they wanted to pull the trigger on a weapon, it would happen now. He waited a moment, tense, listening carefully to the quiet snapping against the window. With the late hour, he didn't have much hope of positively identifying an assailant, but when a full minute went by and nothing happened beyond the same tiny rapping sounds, he reached a hand toward the dark, heavy fabric draped in front of the window.
Without knowing it, Alfred had taken a few steps into the room. He didn't consciously intend to disobey, but recent events combined with a peculiar rapping sound on a window totaled a dangerous sum. He didn't seriously imagine that he was trying to ease himself into position to take a bullet for his master, but at the very least, he wanted to see clearly what would happen when the source of the sound was revealed. He watched Bruce's reactions carefully, seeing the balanced posture, ready to move quickly, seeing the serious, alert expression. He reached out for the curtain and pulled it aside.
Alfred did take several more steps in, then, seeing Bruce's reaction. He saw the jaw drop slightly--- something surprised him. But he hadn't moved physically, hadn't reacted. Alfred's heart started to pound. "Master Bruce, what---"
"Cut the security."
"Sir?" Startled, Alfred froze a moment.
"Cut it, Alfred. I need to open the window."
Alfred took a deep breath. "Tell me this is no threat," he said. The question probably overstepped proper authority, but under the circumstances, decorum was....out the window.
Bruce looked over at him. "No threat," he said firmly. "Cut the infrared."
"Yes, sir." Alfred's eyes remained wide in disbelief, but he left the room, going back down the hallway to the main stairway. A moment or two went by and there were no more quiet popping sounds. Bruce traced the path in his mind, through to the utility room off of the butler's pantry, and when he imagined the security was off, he turned to the window, gathering up an armload of velvet curtain and draping it over a nearby chair. He turned back to the window, deliberately making no effort to see out through the glass, and flipped the levers on the frame. It probably hadn't been opened in years, but the hinges worked smoothly.

part 2/4
The handful of small pebbles that had been used as a makeshift doorbell were spilled to the ground three floors below, and a rush of cold, damp air accompanied the unusual visitor through the open window. "The front door wouldn't do?" Bruce asked without preamble, pulling the window closed again.
"It's watched. I don't think anyone saw me this way." He waited while the latches on the window were pulled shut.
"Impressive, considering the neon colors." Bruce finished with the window, then turned to the ends of the heavy velvet curtain. He still hadn't turned to face his visitor. I can't, he realized to himself. He has something I no longer have, something that can't be shared....
Clark's mind raced to set up a pile of excuses for the comment, covering for him. "Please.....is there anything, anything at all I can do?" he asked after a moment, watching Bruce listlessly rearrange the folds of the dark maroon fabric. At first he showed no outward sign of having heard the words, but after a moment he shook his head briefly. Clark wasn't sure if it was an answer to his question or regret at the whole situation.
Several long moments went by before there was a verbal response. "Can you time travel?" Clark had to use some higher ability to hear the sardonic words, and he chose not to respond to them directly.
"There has to be something," he countered, carefully neutral in his tone of voice. The fact that Bruce still hadn't even faced him was a clear tip that he was in a very uncertain mood. "I think it's just one stolen laptop that started the rumors. We could circulate another laptop---"
"What about the paramedics?"
Clark stopped. He reran the words in his mind, confirming the sarcasm. He's ready to give up, he thought to himself in disbelief. He's already surrendered. Clark had to grab his mind with both hands to stay focused and ignore the side issues. "I think under the circumstances they'd be happy to be given a way out of this, and probably not only them," he said. "Mercy Hospital is taking the heat, the police commissioner is taking---"
"I hope you don't think I feel sorry for them."
Clark took a deep breath. "And you're taking the heat, too," he finished, forcing himself to speak calmly. "Not to mention your employees. You're not going to tell me that planting some false evidence for people to find is too big of a price to pay. I'm good and ready to go hunt down the correct make of laptop right now." He took a breath to speak again but then held it as Bruce finally let the curtain go, walking slowly to another chair. He sat down, holding his head in his hands. Something about the movement made Clark think he was finally being given a window through the bitterness.
"Think for me. I can't." The words were so quiet that Clark had to use more of his abilities to pick them out. "I don't know....how to get out...."
Clark took a few steps towards him. "Then, here are my thoughts," he said softly. "I think that we can save this situation. I think that we can plant another laptop. I can offer myself for a few quick interviews, not in-depth, just a fast news conference here in Gotham, and tell people they're on to the wrong man. If you do pull off the mask, use a disguise under it. You told me that you've done this in the past---do it again."
"But who will that set them onto?" Bruce asked in the same small, worried voice, getting to his feet and wandering off a few steps. His arms were wrapped around his middle, and for a moment Clark worried that it might be because of the surgery. "They're after me. They want blood, and if they can't get me, they'll take someone else."
"Then there needs to be a deterrent," Clark said, still keeping his voice low, hoping to keep the sarcasm away. "I think threats are necessary and even appropriate. If they go after the wrong man, it has to be made clear that there are going to be consequences. You and I are uniquely vulnerable because of our dual lives, and we both have a lot to lose. May I also suggest that our respective cities would lose out if a dual life such as ours is threatened or compromised," he said, pitching it as a statement. "Down the road, the consequences of a threat like this are similar to things like hijacked planes, bomb threats, and mob bosses, because you and I deal with those situations."
He stopped. A slight scraping sound reached his hearing. By the time he had turned his head, he had identified the sound, and even identified the subconscious memory of a few seconds of footsteps. He also knew who it was and what they were doing.

part 3/4
Bruce flinched. The first thing he became aware of was a blast of air into his face, almost like a compressor. The second thing that registered was sound, the low whuff of air and the sound of silverware clinking together. He blinked rapidly, reflexively covering his eyes with a hand. As his eyes recovered, he turned towards the sound.
Red, blue, and black. Alfred had entered the room with a tray, expecting to serve the evening meal. Something very unexpected had met his gaze, he had started to lose his grip on the handles of the tray, and by the time the tray reached a tilt of 20 degrees past level and all major elements on the tray had started to slide and even spill, the slide was arrested by a third hand under the tray. The butler had had an even stronger physical reaction than his employer, and the tray was first neatly deposited onto a nearby side table. Then a hand was under his elbow and another arm around his waist. Not quite three seconds had elapsed from when Clark first heard the slight scrape of one of the double doors.
"It's alright, it's alright, I'm here as a friend," the alien said quietly, trying to calm the resultant burst of adrenalin, the increased oxygen demand, the pulse rate of the man he had met three years ago under a different identity. Alfred wore glasses, so his eyes were somewhat protected, but he still blinked as he stared at the vivid, improbable figure next to him. Clark slowly eased his supportive grip as he felt Alfred's weight shift, regaining his footing. The older man found his wits, swallowing audibly and straightening his coat. He gave a brief, acknowledging nod to his employer and turned, leaving the room. Clark suppressed a smile. Three years ago he had been quietly impressed by the role the butler played; more than merely preparing meals and arranging his master's schedule, he also assisted significantly with the hazardous lifestyle his master had taken on. Now he was being asked to swallow evening meetings with Superman. Initially shaken, he had gotten a grip on himself, recovered, and exited with some calm.
"So, what kind of information would you be proposing to put on this laptop?"
Clark glanced back, surprised by the question. With a sinking feeling, he identified the condescension in the voice. "Besides the necessary dummy software? I'd first like to get as close as I could to the recovered laptop and confirm what's on there. Then we would construct an appearance that matches what you'd like people to see if the mask would be removed."
"And how would this erase the testimonials from the hospital staff?"
"I would talk to them about this. I'm sure they'd be willing to help save the life of an innocent man," Clark stressed meaningfully.
"So you're proposing a conspiracy."
"This is a problem?"
"You're not taking into account the fact that conspiracies get damn complex in a hurry. No amount of fancy talk is going to convince a battle-hardened cop like Gordon that he didn't see what he thought he saw---"
"I'm not talking about hypnotizing people. I'm talking about enlisting their aid in protecting you."
"You don't think I can do that myself?"
"Frankly, no. Right now you seem good and ready to pull off the mask and give them a definitive target." As soon as the words were out of his mouth he felt like slapping a hand over his mouth. Dammit, dammit, dammit...... He saw the change in posture of the other man and knew exactly the lazy, self-satisfied condescension he had just ordered up for himself.

part 4/4
"And you think you're the only man in the world who can pull off an effective operation on two fronts," Bruce snarled back, finally turning to face him directly. "Well, stop the presses, but this situation is just a little more complex than you can appreciate. There are more credible information leaks than can be decisively countered, and there are people out there right now taking my bullets," he said, an arm pointing to the southwest to the city proper. "You're damn right they need a definitive target."
"But it doesn't have to be you," Clark returned, intense. "Redirect their shots to a shadow. Redirect them to Batman."
"Brilliant idea," was the sarcastic response. "Now how do you shake their attention from all of the fakes and the files copied off of the ambulance laptop?"
He probably intended the question as rhetorical, but Clark took it as an opening. He would take anything, at this point. "We do a switch on the laptop," he said, still intense, taking a couple of steps towards the other man. "It's got to happen now, it's got to start tonight. If we could cast just a little bit of doubt on things, it would help. Pull off the mask if you think you should, but use a disguise, and I'll back you up, I'll vouch for you. In fact, maybe it would be bad not to, at this point. If you---"
"That's bloodlust out there on the streets, Kent," came the hot condescension. "They've wanted Batman dead for years---the energy I've had to waste saving my own butt would take down an entire cartel. Whatever face I show, they're going to take shots and go after innocent people, hurting or killing them while I sit safe and sound in my heavily guarded home. Let me ask you this, Superman," Bruce said bitterly. "If you were in my situation, whose name would you fill in in your place? Who would you set up to take your fall?"
The question wasn't rhetorical, and he kept Clark on the same demanding, angry stare, not letting him go until he answered the dilemma. "No one," Clark said quietly. "If I make a mistake, I bear the consequences."
"And so I bear the consequences," Bruce said, spreading his arms. "No more masks, no more disguises, no more hiding, I've hit the end of the road."
"Taken down by one stolen laptop and a stray industrial blade."
"Don't manipulate me, Kent."
"Oh, I don't need to. The situation seems to be manipulating you just fine."
"Get out of here."
"Since you were nine years old, you've put every resource of your mind, body, and fortune into Batman. Just tell me once again this isn't worth attempting to save," Clark said, switching tactics again, trying to find the right one.
"I'm the one to make that decision," Bruce shot back. "I know what's at stake better than anyone else, and I say the price is too high."
"What if someone else with a similar dual-life situation thinks that he can effect a rescue of the situation?"
"I don't need your rescue," Bruce ground out contemptuously.
"If not mine, then who?" Clark tried. "Who else could save you from self destruction?"
"Who else but Superman?" Bruce returned mockingly.
"That's not what I meant," Clark said, defensive. "I meant you need the help of someone who can handle the breadth of this problem, and I'm not seeing anyone else willing and able to step forward. I already know who you are. I'm the only one who can help you."
"And that's why you came, isn't it? The crazy human is getting kicks as an East Coast Superman knock-off, gets in trouble, and now everyone can see the glory boy come to save the flying rodent--"
"No!" Clark shouted. The volume cut the other man off cold, but it also could have been the red glow from the eyes of the Kryptonian. No burning blaze lanced across the space between them, but for a brief moment, a crimson glow lit that side of the room before it faded back to the quiet, plain bulb of the single lamp in the room. The sudden silence was cutting.
Anyone else would have backed away from him in fear. The sudden flare of anger did stop the accusing words, but the different heat of the human's stare never cooled. Clark took a deep breath, visibly calming himself, aware that at least for tonight, he could do no more. Bruce crossed abruptly over to the window, pulling up the latches and opening the window. "Get off of my property."
Clark sighed, bowing his head for a moment, then slowly walked over to the opening. A cool breeze rushed through the opening, stirring the dark red fall down his back as he neared the open space. "I will leave," he said quietly. "But I will be back. I came because you're worth it." He pushed off of the floor, airborne now, and paused in the opening. "....or at least you used to be."
