Alright. I was kind of upset when Azrael couldn't quite turn his head up so he could atleast become eye level with whatever other figures. So I cut out some of the plastic that was behind his neck under the hood, it was part of the upper cape. I also widened the hole in the neck, where the peg sat, so that it could move farther up. Now he still can't look up, but he can atleast look someone in the eyes. I had to paint his golden neck red so it would blend better with his cape. Pretty damned simple and basic, but mostly effective.
Ready to gut ya!
Cheer up ya sad S.O.B!!
Thats better
I think in the not so distant future I might sculpt some cape/hood folds over the back of his neck so it looks....better, but I'll have to keep it low enough so it doesn't get in the way of his head when its raised. Maybe replacing the neck altogether would be a better bet, and then you could have an even better range of motion....something for someone to try I'd say.
Up next is Batman....First off I had to touch up his Batarangs. Just a touch of silver paint was all I needed. Also the one batarang on the top right had this small hoop, so I did the natural thing and tied a nice long strand of elastic thread to it. instant grappling hook.
Batman himself underwent a few mods. Firstly, I removed his cowl, his hands and his belt. The hands were replaced by some random ML hands I had, but they do not have the wrist articulation. The belt actually sat between his torso and his pelvis so that had to be dug out, then I filled it in with some clay. Once that cured, Batman got all his blues painted black. Then I cut all the belt's pouches free with an x-acto knife, dremelled the excess plastic away and glued them to an appropriately thick rubber band. They were then painted with browns and silver for the buttons. Glued the very ends of the belt to the center of his front waist where the buckle would go. Once that dried I sculpted a simple lil buckle and threw on some paint. Now he's even more stylin in my preferred black n gray costume, his hands can open and close, AND his leg articulation has just been maximised.
Much more planned for this guy though....
I still need to tweak his left wrist, because it looks a little awkward to me.
I want to swap his head out with one of the Hush Batman heads.
I need to put together a poseable cloth cape.
Give him double knees....
But for now I'll be busying myself finishing up the sculpting on a Clayface, and a Scarecrow I'm working on. Then I can finally hand those off to the wife, so's she can paint the bastards.
