Allright we usually know that cover songs usually pale in comparison to the originals, but there are some cases in which they are generally better or up to par with the original songs. In that case, which cover songs do you think sound better than the originals?

Great topic! On of my favorite covers is "Take on me" by Reel Big Fish. I hated A-ha's version of the song, as most 80's music is not my thing, but this one always brings a smile to my face.

Hmmm cant whole heartedly say "better" than the original but Queensryche's version of Simon & Garfunkle's Scarburough Fare is simply marvelous! If you have the means get ahold of it.

[shadow=red,left,300]There are a few cover songs that I think are much better than the originals. Him's cover of "Wicked Game", which was originally done by Chris Isaak. Another one is "Come on Eileen" by Save Ferris. The original was well done, but Save Ferris' version, what with it's surprising ska sound works amazingly well.[/shadow]

Would also like to direct people to the band "Ra" and their version of Sting's "every little thing she does is magic". Delightful and fun. More energetic yet faithful to the original (which I never Nec. liked)

Goo Goo Dolls cover of "Give a Little Bit". Few songs IMO can be improved the second time around but they made it sound better.

The Tea Party's version of "Paint It Black" is definitely the best I've heard and I like it a lot better than the original.
THere's also a techno version by SCORPIO that is pretty sweet.

I like The Dropkick Murphy's remake of It's a long way to the top (if you wanna rock n' roll) originally done by AC/DC
And Green Day does a sweet version of Shout!

I have no idea. If I remeber correcty it's on their Tangent album. THe only reason I know who they are is that kristin 1228 used "Paint it Black" for one of her Batman Begins music videos.
