finally i came up with enough good sense to make a green day appreciation club here at LOG. this is where all fans can discuss song meanings, album meanings, the new movie, future albums, past videos, the VMA awards and discuss fave songs and albums.
feel free to express yourself here. This is Sargaent Scarecrow's Awesome Green Day band (suspicously cheesy)
if any of you are wondering Green day means a whole day of marijuana (not tellin you to go out and buy. WINK-WINK)
Go green day
so you know green day's greatest hits video collection may air on wed and thurs next week at 7:00 and & 7:30 ( id know for sure but the mtv2 site HAS NOTHING)

[glow=green,2,300]I love Jesus of Suburbia and my favorite parts are I don't care all the way to tales from another broken home.[/glow]
[glow=blue,2,300]I still think this thread should be called Sargeant Scarecrow's Green Day Club Band.[/glow]

here are the song meanings and plot outline for the american idiot album
jesus of sububia- rebelious youth rotting and knowing who later tries to free other rebels with speeches of what is messed up in our society using basic teen rebelion tactics
St jimmy: hardcore split personality who experiments with drugs and puts the i dont care personality into jesus
whatsername- a girl in the city who really knows how to protest possibly a petition leader and a radical who dates jesus
lost and found- the group of drug users who live on the streets of the city
American Idiot: Possibly one of Jesus of Suburbia's rebel speeches, a major nod to Pink Floyd The Wall, the song describes media coverage of the War in Iraq and the hold media has on our perception of government and world events.
Jesus of Suburbia: The second track tells the story of Jesus of Suburbia, who lives with his negligent divorcee mother in a suburb called "Jingletown, USA". His younger years were spent "on a steady diet of soda pop and Ritalin", watching television, experimenting with drugs, and loitering in front of convenience stores. He feels trapped and bored in his town and longs for escape. (I)
Disillusioned with life in Jingletown and its effect on his psyche, Jesus decides to leave Jingletown for "The City".(II - V)
Holiday: At first Jesus feels free from the rat race and political injustice he considers to plague others...
Boulevard of Broken Dreams: ...but he later finds himself alone in spite of The City's crowd.
Are We the Waiting: He eventually decides to radically change his personality .
St. Jimmy: In doing so, he adopts a new moniker, "St. Jimmy", and lifestyle, that of an unpredictable, charismatic, and rebellious criminal to whom others (the Underbelly/ lost and found) gravitate.
Give Me Novacaine: During this transformation, he begins doing drugs to fit in and escape the pain of his dual lifestyles of Jesus and St. Jimmy.
She's a Rebel: Jesus meets Whatsername, a girl who fascinates him - she is a real rebel, not someone pretending to be one like he is...
Extraordinary Girl: ...and they begin dating. As he slowly metamorphosizes into St. Jimmy, he falls thoroughly in love with her, but he is unable to give her what she deserves due to his personal insecurities.
Letterbomb: In a letter to Jesus/Jimmy, Whatsername expresses her frustration towards him, and tells him she's leaving both him and The City.
Wake Me Up When September Ends: A song about Billie Joe Armstrong's father, who died of cancer when he was 10 years old (on the VH1 show Storytellers, Billie Joe mentions that this song is the only song that veers from the overall plot of the album). Seeing as it has a date in the liner notes along with the other songs, and has lines such as let's ring the bells again, like we did when spring began which was a happier time in the story, the track probably has dual meanings(this could be a lament), in that Jesus/Jimmy is now alone again.
Homecoming: Eventually Jesus decides to abandon his St. Jimmy identity, which he had been using as a crutch. In order to abandon his title, Jesus symbolically "kills" St. Jimmy in a personal kind of suicide. (I)
Following St. Jimmy's death, Jesus gets arrested on East 12th St. (II) (East 12th Street is a real location of a police station in Oakland, California, where Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong had to fill out paperwork for his DUI in 2002) Jesus' personal life begins to fall apart (III). He decides to return to Jingletown to escape this trap... (V)
Whatsername: ...and is left with his memories of what could have been had he stayed with Whatsername .
In the VH1 "Storytellers", it is stated that the ending is open to interpretation, as Mike Dirnt stated. He could end up in Jingletown, in a mental institution, or in jail.
this would basically be the plot of the movie

I went with Longview. I have had so many instances where I have been bored and thought of this song. It should be the "I'm bored" anthem. It is also the anthem for another thing. Anyone who knows the song, knows what I am talking about. Good job writing all of the story out MasterofFear1. I already knew the main points, but some things you mentioned kind of helped me on the story.

Not a bad avatar. My first impression was that it wasn't as good as the old one. Now that I am getting used to it, I like it better. The lettering is awesome. I am switching mine to TNBA Nightwing.

mine too except.. lets face it..................................warning isnt even in the running Yeah, I know. I put it as more of a novelty than anything else. What were they thinking when they did this one. I did like Misery though. Coolest one out of the whole album.

BACK AGAIN WITH ANOTHER UPDATE. FOR ALL GREEN DAY FANS.
this weekend hopefully id like to set the record straight on contraversy and false song interpretations.
-the song american idiot is not calling americans idiots like my dumb neighbor seems to think but they are calling those gullible to t.v. false advertising, couch potato-ing, wasting their lives and stupidly misinterpreting crap idiots.
- holiday's sequence in the end with the anouncements are just saying show everyone we are a world power and our government should be strong and hard but fair, not dumb republican daddy's boys that look like idiots whenever they make a speech, or eat a pretzel (and choke).
-jesus of suburbia is quietly trying to protest the medication process of adhd medicine in which phyco kids coveted by a false disease to use as a crutch and loose reality( i am known to have it but it is a load of well...)
- good riddance isnt supposed to celebrate good times remembrance like most idiots played for their wedding or graduation (my mom). it is a nice leave i hate you anyway remark.
-update please no matter how meaningless, i would want this to stay on our forums as long as it can.

- good riddance isnt supposed to celebrate good times remembrance like most idiots played for their wedding or graduation (my mom). it is a nice leave i hate you anyway remark. Last year's graduation, a guy sung this. If I ever had it played for something, I would do it to try to offend them. You know what they would say. "I love that song. It is so fitting." My reply, "Yes, it is fitting."

Have you ever noticed on Good Riddance, that the first word is the f word. It is very quiet, but if you turn up the volume you can hear it. I guess that is what makes this song a Green Day song.

I know what you mean MoF, I'm probably the only kid in my school who like Batman enough to wear a Batman shirt at least 3 days out of the week. My friend, Josh Leman, says only 5 year olds like Batman, and also said that Batman was gay. Uh Josh, your pretty much insulting everybody here.

yeah all my friends watched batman but they grew out of it but i guess my obsession with nostalgia brought me back to batman fandom.

I don't know if you guys looked at it, but in the Begins section I had thread called SOUNDTRACT IDEAS. I had a list of songs of songs that I thought would've been on a compolation album for the movie. And he are two of those songs:
BOULEVARD OF BROKEN DREAMS WHEN I COME AROUND
Yeah. Get a little Green Day for Batman. Yeah. Uh-huh. Oh right.

I'd like to hear more of their old stuff for these things anyway. The singles from American Idiot have been used to much.

i was thinking of that too but what is most likely with soundtracks is the artists and bands see the movie early and compose music due to their own interpretation.

UPDATE -(not really news.. but hey, i need a life) well with the success of september's american idiot album finally fading away i always asked myself what are they doin to top it? well, i assure you as soon as i know i will update butas for know their must be something to discuss, well like the movie. i have chosen to alert that if you are seeking new info on the movie look her DONT look in the green day movie forum. -there IS buzz going on that it may be an independent film that has a abnormally high budget due to the albums intake. P.S.- anyone else with news
