Tom Cruise is without a doubt one of my least favorite actors. He plays Tom Cruise in EVERY film. Its quite sad, really. I could do without him completely. very true actually-his range is quite limited and a lot of his movies very similar

[shadow=purple,left,300]I also think the same way about Nic Cage, though I'll admit he's gotten better since his late 90s-early 00s ego trip. But I'd say the worst one is Warren Beatty, who's even more of a, um, "explitive," than Cruise could ever amount to, imo. As long as Tom Cruise stays out of politics, I'm fine. [/shadow]

See? That's what I'm talking about. They stole Batman's thunder! Didn't this guy want to talk about Begins with her anyway? [shadow=purple,left,300]I don't think TomKat stole the thunder from Batman Begins. Batman was a risky franchise to start up again anyway, and War of the Worlds combined Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise and massive special effects, whereas Batman Begins had little-known cast and crew and was coming off of a franchise which folded in on itself eight years before. The Tom frenzy might have added to WOTW making more money, but I'm not sure it made BB lose money.
To add a little sigh of relief to the thread's initial purpose, M:i-III made $48 million at the Box Office this weekend, about $10 million below industry expectations, most likely a result of over-exposure to Tom and Katie.[/shadow]

I don't know that, it is just an opinion. I think everyone has gotten really tired of Tom Cruise by now though. I have went through a dilemma with Cruise. First, I normally don't judge an actor by their politics or personal life. However, the only way that I personally can do anything about this, I have no other way but to not see the movie. It really isn't fair to the rest of the actors, production, director, or studio, but it is the only way they will get the message.

meh, I think we're all giving Cruise far to much credit (and "power"). Who cares!? He's become an oddball and most everyone is realizing it and are responding accordingly. People are fickle and the only thing more enjoyable than "building someone up", is "tearing them down". He has became a fair/safe target and his star is falling fast for now and like most, he aint helping to slow the descent. (no matter how many blocks of tickets to MI3 he and his Scientology pals personally buy up arent gonna help any)

i will probably see MI:3 as the other 2 were pretty poor. part 1 was ok, part 2 got too "arty" with the silly music and slow-motion shots, and a bad story.
but no way can it overshadow Superman.
as for Katie's bad promotion of Begins last year, in one interview, the interviewer asked "Batman is strong, brave, handsome, would he be your ideal man?" and instead of just going along with it and saying "yes", she said "no, Tom is my ideal man".
and another question was something like "you've been in the Batmobile, how was Christian's driving?" and she replied "yeah it was ok, quite scary, Tom is a much better driver!".
and yes, i also hate his cheesy grin he makes at every opportunity.
and i watched WOTW on dvd and thought it was absolutely terrible.

So much hate for Tom. What happened to simply watching a movie for enjoyment? Why does everyone bring such baggage to the theater with them?
And for the record, I enjoyed the movie a lot. Not the best thing ever, but an excellent popcorn flick you watch for some action and thrills. Who cares about the main actor jumping couches in his spare time?

I respect all your opinions but I dont like the fact that Tom Cruise is becoming a stereotypical negativity. I mean, really, his movies are great and lots of people who have voted online and I have spoke to that gave it a bad rating havent even watched it, just saying they dont like hime anymore. I don't like how it's turning out. Really, I suggest you watch the movie because it IS a great kick-butt movie.

I disagree with the way that this man has acted. I feel I should discourage what he is doing. But because I am just a lowly consumer, the only way that I personally can do anything is to boycott him. It is a shame because there are so many other people that go into making a movie. However, when the big people at the movie companies are considering who to star in there next movie, they will reconsider casting Cruise. That is the reason why I am boycotting the man. I hope that brings some clarity to the subject.

This is one of Cruise's lowest grossing box-office hits in quite a few years (perhaps even a decade or more)

As for the Tom Cruise debate, here's why I don't like him: He is an overly cocky person who thinks that everyone in the world cares what he thinks. He goes around the world conducting interviews on obnoxious subjects, whether its about depression or religion, thinking that his opinion is the most relevant. First of all, for him to say that anti-depressants don't work is completely irrelevant. He is not a doctor nor is he an expert, and the fact that so many people take his uneducated opinions seriously is frightening. The worst part about it is that people actually care what he has to say, and they listen to him!
[/shadow] [shadow=green,left,300]You took the words right out of my mouth J-Man, I agree with you 100%. I had no problem with him until I saw all this nonsense going around, I have to say this "Batman Begins" was WAY better than "War of The Worlds"! I'll tell you this too, there is no way that "Mission Impossible 3" will beat "Superman Returns" or even "Ghost Rider" for a fact! I'm not pointing fingers or anything this is just my opinion of it. [/shadow]

I have to chime in here and add a few comments about Mr Cruise.Although i'm really not keen in getting over a whole abuse and destroy discussion so i'll just say my piece for what it's worth.
I was in a Crew that worked with Tom back in '99 and i have to say that back then he was an absolute pleasure. When he was out of the media spotlight and just at"work"he was pleasant, funny, accomodating, generous and a sincere person.None of his more recent behaviour was displayed and for that i am grateful, there was no arrogance, outlandish antics, tantrums or opinionated behaviour to be seen. I know he has changed since my experiences with him but i have good memories of a decent person that i found a pleasure to work for.Just remember i'm talking about the man himself, not his Acting or Movies.

I am sorry for my behavior and think it's best we drop the topic.

There's no need to apologise or end the discussion Kat.I just wanted to share my experiences with the man in the past to give an idea of where he was as opposed to where he is now.He has drastically changed and it's pretty well documented from what i see and hear.

Suddenly..... suddenly, I've got the overwhelming urge to watch top gun and root for ice man...... ............mmmm, changed my mind. I don't think I could handle seeing cruise. speaking as someone who works in the medical community, if he has some kind of mental health issues, and stopped taking his meds, that'd definitely explain his behavior.
