As most of you know the story, last year, Tom Cruise stole away Batman's spotlight at the Batman Begins premier as he was dating Katie Holmes, who starred in the film. Tom Cruise also beat out Batman with War of the Worlds making more money than Begins, which by the way it sucked anyway. Katie and Tom ruined the year of the Bat.
This now brings me to this summer. As you know, Katie gave birth to Tom's daughter last Tuesday. But isn't it a coincidence that she was born around the same time that Mission Impossible 3 is coming out? I think not. Also coming out this summer is Superman Returns. 2006 is Superman's year, and Cruise is trying to steal the spotlight again! I will not let this happen!
Which brings me to my point. Last year, Tom Cruise ruined the year of Batman's return to the big screen. I will not let Cruise destroy Superman's return! Which is why I encourage all of you to help Superman Returns beat M:I III! Tom Cruise must not win again!

Well, I'm not seeing M:i III because I just don't like Tom Cruise. I find his acting to be good, but the only way to discourage him is to not see his movies. That being said, I can not see how he could possibly steal Superman's thunder. Everyone now knows that he is a total psycho and will soon tire of it. Plus, he has absolutely no connections to the film as of this moment. Unless if the entire cast and crew are Scientologists, I think we're safe.

all respect to superman but who said the year belonged to THE S-man?
all im aying is that Tom should get a break, i mean i hate him but he used to be on meds. Then after he started the scientology (in which you dont believe in medication) he stopped taking it...hence the wierdness.

I don't think Tom's actions were necessarily 'intentional' but the facts are given. I know that Superman Returns will get a better box office result than MI:III just for the fact its been anticipated for a while now. No one even knew Cruise was working on MI:III Until the teasers started to appear out of nowhere.

no way MI3 has any impact on SR-too much time between releases.-the rest of the big summer movies X3,POTC etc should be ok too from the evil of ToomuchTom and Cardborad Kate

Don't worry, I'm seeing Superman Returns no matter what, and I haven't even seen Mission Impossible 1 or 2, so I definitely won't see 3. I'm sure I wouldn't see it even if I had seen the others, tho.

[shadow=purple,left,300]I'm not seeing M:I-3 because it doesn't look like a good movie at all.
As for the Tom Cruise debate, here's why I don't like him: He is an overly cocky person who thinks that everyone in the world cares what he thinks. He goes around the world conducting interviews on obnoxious subjects, whether its about depression or religion, thinking that his opinion is the most relevant. First of all, for him to say that anti-depressants don't work is completely irrelevant. He is not a doctor nor is he an expert, and the fact that so many people take his uneducated opinions seriously is frightening. The worst part about it is that people actually care what he has to say, and they listen to him!
Adding to his arrogance, this is a fact I heard a few weeks ago about Cruise's opinion on the M:I-iii marketing campaign in Germany. While he was promoting the film, he was appauled that his name did not have a font as large as the M:I-iii logo. Not advertising that it was a Tom Cruise movie might hurt the film's box office, something I'm sure he wouldn't be so concerned about if he wasn't making 10% of the film's worldwide total. He's not even a good actor. In fact, the only movies that I liked him in were complete box office disasters (Born on the Fourth of July and Magnolia). The only thing that separates him from someone like Rob Schneider or Josh Hartnet (just two random bad actors) is the unfortunate fact that his movies make money.
But that's just what I think. [/shadow]

SRA [shadow=purple,left,300]Discussing something like Scientology always is a tricky subject, especially since it qualifies as a religion. In a nut shell, I don't care for it.
I do agree with the "silent birth" theory, but I agreed with that before I knew it belonged to Scientology or at least was used in the religion's teachings.[/shadow]

Tom Cruise is considered to me at being my arch nemesis. Why? For two reasons:
1. Stole Batman's thunder last summer.
2. He got Comedy Central to pull one of my favorite episodes of South Park. It was one where he wouldn't come out of the closet. (Just pray he doesn't cross me again.")
As for Scientology, big hoax. Who ever heard of the evil dark lord Zenu? If he was real, wouldn't he have destroyed the world by now?
I actually feel sorry for the new kid, Suri. Her dad's a whack job and her mom's brainwashed. And now she has to learn about Scientology. Poor kid.

Poor kid. Careful where we tread All Star, as people do believe in Scientology and there may be LoG members who do too. If someone called one of our religions a hoax, we wouldnt like that. And I'm almost sure that if Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were not going out at the time of Batman Begins, BB would still have made close to the same amount of money, even the BB was an excellent movie and War of the Worlds sucked. It made a lot of money because it was Cruise and Spielberg. Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I am going to see M:I 3. I hope it will be good. As for Superman, I'm certain it will be great, a classic like the original and i doubt Cruise will do anything to affect it.

Sorry vishman. I respect other people's religions, but I just don't get scientology. What do they worship anyway? You've seen that South Park episode, and from things I've read (before Scientology was brought into the limlight), that is pretty much what they believe. I don't think Scientology has a deity, so they do not worship something. Not sure though. If there are any Scientologists here on LoG, I would like to know.

Please feel free to discuss Tom vs Supes as much as you all want. However,Religion no matter which is not to be discussed on the Boards. This is a subject that can cause offense and can reflect badly on Matt and LOG and therefore has no place on a Fan Board. Thank you.

I am simply sorry Tom Cruise acts as he does. He reminds me of some of the unbalanced people I used to meet in Syracuse, NY (where he was born, and where I went to university), and comes across as arrogant. I pity Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Kate Holmes as well. His lashing out at Brooke Shields is uncalled for, as well as his hostility toward the Roman Catholic Church. Just my opinion, but ...

I actually liked War of the Worlds. It was a really good movie IMO, however I don't think it's anywhere near better than Batman Begins and I don't like Tom Cruise that much either.

I actually like WOTW myself as well. Seems I liked it for a lot of the reasons other disliked it? But I dont think it was THAT good, nor do I think it was anywhere near as good as Begins. Similarly I cant imagine MI3 will be even in the same league as Superman!? Ive seen the 2 previous MI's and remember the 1st as being at least mildly "entertaining"... but I honestly cant even remember pt2? I know I remember thinking (and still do) do we need or did the movie warrant ANY follow ups? least of all a 3rd? No matter how much anyone might like or love the MI movies, they still know what it is and know pretty much exactly what theyll be getting. I would much rather see something new and different and exciting with much more to offer all the way around beyond just Tommyboy's big ole' goofy grin tryin to act all serious and tough? "RED LIGHT!... GREEN LIGHT".

MI:1 is ok but MI:2 is totally forgettable.3 looks good but as far as must sees for me its not even near Superman Returns,X3 and POTC2. Cruise and Holmes moreso really fry me.last year on the Morning Show in Ireland she wouldnt talk about Begins at all-all WOTW-the presenter Ryan Tubridy seemed to be getting frustrated with her because she kept changing the subject-man I nearly threw my cup of tea through the TV

yes indeed he did.Ryan Tubridy would be a Bat fan and he started the interview by saying of all the great movies en route this Summer Begins was the one he was most looking forward to.Holmes barely responded. he then asked about the summer and she NEVER mentioned Begins.he went back to Begins twice but she found a way to turn it into a WOTW discussion.once it was about the batmobile and she said "Tom would love to drive it(yes IT not the Batmobile) and done a lot of stunt driving in WOTW he loves all that kind of stuff"-UNBELIEVABLE.she done this plenty elswhere too though

I hope she doesn't show up in the sequel, because if she gets interviewed, it'll just turn into something about Cruise. You know all they talked about when she was on Letterman last year was her and Tom? And all they said about Batman Begins was show a clip from when she was attacked at the Subway. Did Cruise brainwash her or something? Speaking of my archnemisis, did anyone not see his movie?

Tom Cruise is without a doubt one of my least favorite actors.
He plays Tom Cruise in EVERY film. Its quite sad, really. I could do without him completely.
